  1. Cabin #: 6071

    Ship: Onward

Month / year sailed: January 2023

Would you choose this room again: No

Is noise an issue: Yes— this cabin is directly across from a crew access and there is lots of door slamming/ chatter early in the morning (@ 7 a.m.)

    Balcony size: Standard

  2. I realize the answer to these questions depends on which terminal is assigned on embarkation day, but I was just wondering whether anyone who has recently embarked on Onward in Miami can share a bit about their boarding experience.  How long prior to your pre-selected time did you arrive?  Was there anywhere to wait in the terminal?  We will be among those who must check out of our hotel a few hours before our designated boarding time, so we are hoping to make plans accordingly. Thanks in advance!

  3. Thanks for this clarification, @Grandma Cruising.  I thought what I was told about excursion cancellations sounded extremely restrictive, but the Azamara rep I spoke with was very clear when asked to repeat the policy.  That’s why DH and I have come to depend on these boards! I appreciate your taking the time to respond.

  4. Just got off the phone with someone from Azamara.  I had questions about whether it’s possible to apply our OBC (it was part of an Azamara promotion, not from our TA) to the purchase of the Indulgence Package prior to our cruise. I realized this was probably a long shot based on what I’ve read on this board, but hope springs eternal!  😉

This is what I was told:

    * Our OBC can only be used pre-cruise for the purchase of excursions.
    * The Azamara reps you speak to can only take credit card payments for package purchases or upgrades; thus, no OBC for those pre-cruise.
    * If guests choose to cancel an excursion they booked, it would need to be done 48 hours before embarkation. (This was news to me, as Celebrity gives you until 24 hours prior to the excursion to cancel.)

As we are new to Azamara, this was surprising information.  I guess DH and I will need to be patient on Day 1 as we line up somewhere to direct our OBC to our desired choice(s)! 😬

  5. I was searching online for an answer to this myself.  DH and I will be on our 1st Azamara cruise in January and would like to know if self-disembarkation is possible in Miami;  we’ve done this several times on Celebrity.  Thanks in advance to anyone who might know!

  6. First of all, condolences to our UK Cruise Critic community on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.  She was a truly remarkable woman, and I’m sure this is a difficult time for many.  DH and I will be on the September 17th sailing of the Equinox and are hoping to be able to view the funeral onboard on the 19th.  Might anyone know whether the ship has the capacity to broadcast the service live? As it is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. London time, this would obviously be in the early morning ship time.

Also, as an additional bit of information, I understand this date will be declared a public holiday in Grand Cayman, which happens to be our 1st port stop. Not sure how this might impact excursions and other activities for those who have plans.

  7. Is anyone else concerned about being tested randomly at the Vancouver airport? I know they have suspended this practice until July 1, but my DH & I are considering booking a Pacific Coastal cruise on Celebrity Solstice in September, so it could potentially impact our travels.  We have no problem with testing before we leave home (which in our case would be two days before our cruise and one day before flying to Vancouver), but as these tests are simply one moment in time, it’s a bit disconcerting.  We’ve all known too many people who have been asymptomatic positive, and in our case, our daughter had to quarantine in France in May after testing positive on the last day of her river cruise after experiencing almost no symptoms.

I know we each need to do our own risk assessment, but I am just wondering if anyone who has embarked on a cruise from Vancouver has experienced this testing, and heaven forbid, found they were unable to continue their travel as a result.

    Thanks for any thoughts…

  8. However, in my case I had to rebook my flight (so you most likely would have to also) but because you would have tested positive how would you know when to rebook. I was cleared to fly by a doctor (with the Letter) and had no symptoms and not infectious by day 7 but I continued to testpositive until day 12.

@STLCRUISINCan you share how many days you had to wait after your positive test before a doctor would provide this letter? Thanks so much.

These adjustments will require a change for the Celebrity Millennium sailings departing September16,

    2022 and December 19, 2022

Thanks.  My concern is that these two sailings, of which ours is the former, are cancelled completely.  Thus the offer to rebook on another cruise or get a refund.  So frustrating.  This was to be our 1st Aqua class experience to celebrate my retirement from teaching.  Finding it a bit ironic that we’re having so much trouble getting information about this (so we can begin to think about alternatives) while we’re on board a Celebrity ship!

  10. DH and I are currently on Apex and just saw this post. Thanks to the OP for sharing the news. We have reservations on the Sept. 16 Millenium Pacific Coastal cruise.  Just went to speak to someone in Future Cruises who could only tell us that our reservation has been “flagged.”  She said she’d try to find out what that means, as she has no other info. at this time.  We’ve not rec’d. any emails from Celebrity or our TA yet.

  11. Bon voyage! My DH and I will look forward to following your latest adventure.  We are avid Celebrity cruisers (as a matter of fact, we are in FLL this evening awaiting our 1st Apex cruise tomorrow), but I am relatively new to posting.  By the way, we will celebrate my retirement from teaching by taking a Pacific Coastal cruise on Millenium in September— in our 1st Aqua class cabin. (Which, thanks to your review will be the same cabin you and Iain enjoyed!)  Looking forward to your posts.

  12. I’m curious what happens from here with the affected passengers given that it appears there are no more port stops on this cruise.  When they arrive back in Miami, will Celebrity assist them in getting home, or will they need to quarantine for days in Miami?  My DH and I are on the Dec. 16 Summit cruise. One slight concern I have is in the unlikely event that one of us tested positive (we are triple vaxxed, but as we know, there are no guarantees with this virus), would we be spending Christmas in a hotel in Miami? 😳 A risk we may be taking, I’m just curious about the scenario of a positive test close to disembarkation.

  13. Update to our refund.  We applied for a refund of our cruise fare on March 15th after our April 4th cruise was cancelled.  After two months (and many contacts with Celebrity and our big box TA) we became frustrated waiting for the funds to be returned, so we disputed the charge with our cc company on May 18th.  Finally received our refund this past weekend — 4 months (or 16 weeks/ 112 days) later.  Relieved to have this behind us.  Best wishes to all who are still waiting; be patient!

  14. While we are happy for anyone who has received their refund, my DH and I are getting more frustrated by the day.  It has now been 64 days since we requested a refund for our cancelled cruise.  We booked through a big box TA and are beginning to think that may be part of the holdup. Could it be that Celebrity is giving preference to non-TA booked cruises?  We are close to making a claim on our credit card.  Thoughts?

  15. Looking forward to following along— hope you and Iain have a wonderful cruise! DH and I are scheduled to sail on Equinox April 4th in our first Sky Suite to celebrate our 40th anniversary; we’re waiting to see what the next couple of weeks bring before making a decision about whether to cancel.  In the meantime, we’ll live vicariously through you—we always enjoy your posts! 😎
