  1. Hello folks, question.

I am picking up a friend at Pt Everglades later in the month. From past times there I remember a security gate when entering the port area. Do I need anything to show the officers when going through?

Also will be picking him up closer to 130PM than the typical 1000AM time-frame. Thanks in advance for any information.

  2. San Juan is the easiest port to leave from. Since the departure is later in the evening the check in window is very broad. So it flows with most folks checking in at different times.

I left the airport on the Carnival shuttle at about 155PM and was on the ship at 240PM. And I hung around the dock for a few minutes taking pictures. No lines, plenty of staff. Super efficient. I would check in to your cabin and drop of your things and then do the Old San Juan tour. You may not want to leave the ship though. A lot to see on your 1st cruise.

Enjoy your 1st cruise. You will be back for more of them many many times.

    Happy Sailing.

I am sailing on Breeze on 05 Dec, 8 nights, eastern Caribbean. Can't wait.

  3. Sorry for all the problems experienced on Star. Most likely more the exception than the rule. We took Star on a cruise to nowhere and it was nice. We did have a couple glitches in that our key cards didn't work twice. And that was on a 2 day cruise. We weren't the only ones. Maybe a 100 people were down at guest services on the 2nd night getting new key cards.

Star is ok, but I will say I am glad we are getting Jade here in Tampa next year. I have heard a much nicer ship.

  4. All of those look good to me. All nice and large ships. I would let price be the deciding factor. I have had great cruises on both lines.

Also have enjoyed Carnival cruises as well.

    Look into these:

    13 Feb - Carnival Breeze - 8 nights - S CRB - Miami

    13 Feb - Carnival Sunshine - 8 nights - E CRB - Pt. Canaveral

    14 Feb - Carnival Splendor - 7 nights - E CRB - Miami

I took a repositioning cruise on Splendor and enjoyed it so much.

Am booked on Breeze on the 5th of Dec and am looking forward

to it. Have heard many great things about Breeze.

  5. I have cruised for many years, and get a lot of good advice from CC.

I have never been to Florida in November. If you live in Florida, or know someone that does (yes, I know each year can be different) , can you give me an idea of the temperatures there, the first week of November. I am from Missouri, and would like to know what kind of clothes to wear, and if the water is too cool to walk through on the beach, or put my feet in, not to go swimming?

Hello KC. I lived in Shawnee for 2 years 79-81. Love the KC area. First place I lived away where I was born. Great memories.

I am a Florida native, living in St Petersburg. Nov is one of my favorite months and in early Nov should be just about perfect. It has been in the mid 80s for the most part recently, so I don't think it will be too much different. Probably in the mid to high 70s and sunny. Maybe even low 80s.

Plan on summer clothing with a light jacket (maybe) for the evenings. Most likely you should be able to walk in the water on the beach. Atlantic is colder than the gulf. I am speaking for the gulf side as that's where I live.

    Happy travels. Jeff

    Go Royals!

  6. This shouldn't be a problem. On Miracle back in 2011 I had planned a 1P departure and got to the airport early enough to take the 1130A flight.

We had self dis-embark and took our time after we cleared customs, having a couple smokes and a soft drink before hailing a taxi.

If we had gotten a taxi right away would have been even earlier to the airport.

  7. Thanks for all the information. Yes I feel more comfortable too using the cruise line excursions but especially as you pointed out leaving the island via water way. May just do an island excursion via rail on St. Kitts anyway. Not much of a beach person. I like the beach but I live in Florida and don't visit the beaches unless I have out of town company. I know, I am wasting the beaches aren't I. Happy sailing. Looking forward most of all to sailing on Breeze. Thanks again for the info'.

  8. Am almost to the booking point of Breeze on 05 Dec this year. Please share any information you have about taking a side trip over to Nevis while I am in St. Kitts. I like going through the cruise line for shore excursions, but the only one I see through Carnival is a bit on the pricey side.

Any suggestions of how to get over there along with any ideas what would be good to do while there.

Thanks in advance. Been trying to sail Breeze over 2 years now.

  9. Great question. It's a gamble either way. Myself, I like to book closer in as I have found better pricing as time goes on. Jan is not a huge demand cruise time so I would expect some drops, but if they want to be on your cruise then best not to wait too long.

I live near a few ports and am usually quite flexible which ship/line I will take as I can drive, but I understand the dynamics of air fare rates when you are out of convenient driving distance.

I hope they go with you. That ship is on my short list. Sounds great.

  10. Sorry can't answer that question. I booked my 2016 cruise on the Miracle for the Miracle while I was on board since I figured she was leaving summertime in 2017.

While looking at itineraries it listed Tampa 2017 for Eastern Caribbean cruises. There was no dates listed other then a year. The guy at the future cruise desk told me the Miracle was going to Tampa early 2017 at a date yet to be determined but it was happening. He also said the Splendor was coming to Long Beach.

He then said the Miracle was probably only going to be in Tampa for about a year. He said Carnival was in active talks with China to homeport the Miracle there in 2018. Those are his words not mine not sure but it took me by surprise. It would however explain why the Miracle did not get the full 2.0 upgrades the other Spirit ships got.

Thanks so much for the details. I appreciate. Time well tell. I hope more information will come out sooner than later. My best guess is that Miracle will be here for a couple months and leave late spring. Hope I am wrong and she will be here until she moves on possibly to China. Thanks again. Jeff

  11. On the Miracle right now. Future desk had itineraries for the Miracle in 2017 out of Tampa with no dates. Was told no firm date as of yet but Miracle is going ti Tampa early 2017 and Splendor to LB which we already speculated.

Surprise was his comment that the Miracle would only be in Tampa about a year since Carnival was in talks to move her to China in early 2018.

So a chance that Miracle will be in Tampa for about a year, or will it leave Tampa for the summer season before going on? With no dates on the future cruise information may not be definite but thought I would ask. Thanks.
