  1. We did our part and donated.

    https://mycause.worldvision.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donate.event&eventID=1177

To see updates you have to go to Royal's site

Don't click the yellow bar as the other link updates first.

Go to Already Booked, Before you go, Itinerary Updates.

Eventually you will also get an email and text from RCCL as well.

After AA cancelled our flight and automatically tried to rebook, we called and cancelled. They will give you a ticket number and a website address to go to and request a refund.

Just did the Sign and Sail for our replacement cruise. Ugh...... Is it 5 O'Clock yet? Need a glass or two.

  2. Please. Put your iPhone down. You can list all the ifs you want.

The truth is that RCCL is not going to put any customers in harm's way. They have done everything they can to help those of us who are on their ships now: free WiFi, a room with laptops and free phone service, paying any airline change fees, etc. They will do the same for the next group of passengers. They know a lot more about conditions than you. If you don't have a dog in the fight and are just fanning the flames that helps no one. If you have a cruise in the next week, wait for news from RCCL. Now I'm going for a 1/2 price drink.

You and Dan helped us a bunch to make early decisions which benefited us. Send me your snail mail address (Dan did and his are enveloped and waiting on the post office tomorrow) and I'll send you some buttons commemorating the chaos. pinman at sign cimorelli dot com

RCCL did the same for us on the IRMA cruise. The news on the ship was much better than anything we were getting ashore and we thank you for the updates.

    Fair winds and following seas!

  3. Recently received from Imperial Jewelers in St. Thomas:

To our Dear Imperial Jewelers Family,

We would like to reach out to let you know we have managed to survive Hurricane Irma. We are thankful that all our family and employees are safe. Our business is safe and secure with very minimal damage. Thank you from the depths of our heart for the prayers, love and support. We expect cruise ships and tourism to resume slowly by the end of October. We will keep you posted on our progress. We will come back stronger and better as we rebuild our beautiful island.

I just got a gorgeous RCCL tux stud set from them a week before the hurricane. Nice people. Glad they are OK.

  4. FredMDCruisers and Dan-P - Many thanks for the updates. Because of you we knew before RCCL agents did and had to school them (ha). We were also able to rebook flights while there are seats. What ports did you actually visit during this "experience". I'm making up some buttons for the Hurricane Maria Cruise - if you're staying on I'll bring them to the Concierge/Diamond Lounge.

I sent the Concierge a note asking if he can work with Guest Services to allow us to board in Port Everglades - a longshot but doable. We saw it done during our evacuation cruise.

For an end date - 24,25 or 27th?????

I'm thinking this for a design - just need the ports and dates.

  6. Good to know! The guy I spoke to said "There are no updates on the website and there will be one at 6pm EST." I didn't know what to say to him but I was fed up.

Edited: I also just noticed they updated their Facebook page as well so we can also direct the employee there.

I also commented on their Facebook page to fix the link and also why not let passengers board in FLL.

It would ease flight congestion as well as not having to get transportation from the airport to the ship.

We re-booked flights because 60% off and 50% on future cruises is decent. Would still rather travel 30 minutes to roll on vice fly.

  7. So, we called C&A at RCCL. They are clicking on the yellow link on the top, which sends you to the Sep 19th update page. You have to tell them to click on Already Booked, Before you go, and Itinerary updates. We had to talk with a supervisor because the workerbee didn't accept our link - said it was a clone. Duh!

We asked about getting on in FLL, but they said because of the crazy circumstances we would have to go to San Juan.

At least they finally made a decision.

  8. I think that is great! Now RCI, listen to us!!![/quote

I think no matter what they have to go back to mainland USA. They will need to load up on their supplies for passengers and SJ is in no condition to provide supplies for AOS guests. I'm assuming AOS usually loads up all their stuff in SJ, they can't do that this time around.

All I can say is, wherever she goes

  9. RCCL just posted their update - NO CHANGES - really?

    https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-ships/itinerary-updates

You would think someone in leadership would make a decision so we can cancel flights and re-book cruises on another ship. Oh yeah - they are on the President's Cruise. Perhaps VOOM isn't working as well as it should?

I'm sure all those on Adventure are getting antsy as well, not knowing where they are going or when. We have B2B on Adventure starting the 23rd with a fly date of Friday. If the airport is down, we can't land, hence we can't board. If the piers or channels have damage the ship can't dock. Does one really think the infrastructure will be restored enough for those two operations to be in service on Saturday?

Just a decision, one way or another, so we can execute alternate plans would be appreciated.

Otherwise I get cruise withdrawals and we have to go food shopping - Ugh! Dangerous in those supermarket aisles. Those old ladies and their carts should be feared.

I realize this pales in comparison to what PR and USVI are experiencing (my best wishes go to them) but again that is my $.02 and an effort to put some levity into this horrible disaster.

  10. I would vote (ha) to redeploy Adventure to Florida, even temporarily. Dump all the passengers in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale as there are two close airports in FLL and MIA. Load the 23rd cruise from there and also supplies. Go back to PR as a technical stop and dump supplies and return all Puerto Ricans that embarked in PR (if they want to go back or remain in the states until their infrastructure is back up). Then, continue to the USVI and other islands that need help and drop more supplies. As a passenger on the 23rd and B2B cruise, just floating around is fine by me. RCCL would get the revenue from the next cruisers and still be able to deliver the much needed materials. Just my $.02.

  11. Should read the comments listed on link you posted about the product. "Burned out" and "Caught fire in my house" and "Product meltdown (literally) after 6 months"

2 out of 2000+ comments. May have been faulty receptacles or A/C power problems.

I have used mine for years - at home, on ship, in Europe using a 220v plug adapter. Again, I use cables with resistors. That is how the Note 7's caught fire - bad cables. I read up prior to plugging in the Note 7, got the right cables, and never had a problem with 4 Note 7's. Too bad they recalled them.

You can go by comments on Amazon or my real-life experience. We have several of these.

  12. This works great.

    https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Family-Sized-Charger-Technology-AX-TPCS/dp/B00OJ79UK6

12 amps across 10 ports and is smart (more amps to phones and tablets). Since the cord is the same as my electric razor, I put the power cord with my razor and it looks like a USB hub. Never been questioned. No surge protectors. I take 3 to 1 US plug adapters and a European to US adapter that fits their vacuum outlets throughout the ship. Where others don't, I do get charging. Had it for a few years and used it with a Note 7 before it got taken back. I do get cables with 56k ohm resisters built https://www.amazon.com/Braided-Charging-Samsung-OnePlus-LIMITED/dp/B01HC3TJ54/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1471098242&sr=1-2&keywords=usb+3.0+to+type+c+charging+cable in so I don't fry anything. Pays to do your homework.

I have an ionizer that has batteries and USB cable. I have been stopped at security but state it is for asthma and have it labeled so. No heating element. Our watches (Garmin) use USB. Harmony has USB ports and 3 US on the makeup counter and another US next to the bed. Plus the European 220v connectors. Electric toothbrushes are 110v only but do recharge in the shaver port in the bathroom.

  13. SO, minimal damage. Have to toss the refrigerator contents - 2 days no power. Lost 6 banana trees but they multiply like rabbits. Some Clusia bent around. Had 2 banana trees in the pool. House was fine. Thank goodness I put up the hurricane metal shutters before leaving. Train was about empty. Glad for the info posted that it was running.

So, the saga ends. We loved the Enchantment, especially Laura (Concierge) and Melissa (Guest Services). They really maintained their cool in the face of irate customers. They got us on and off quickly on the turn-around day. Many thanks to the Captain and Michael Bayley for letting us stay on. We had a great time on the cruise that never was or Evacuation Cruise. While on board I designed a pin and I will send Laura these to distribute among those that assisted us. They will get T-Shirts as well.

I did get to personally talk with Michael Bayley and gave him some pins including a button for the 8-11 Enchantment Cruise.

I do have to thank him and RCCL for giving us a super rate for booking on the EOTS post Evacuation Cruise and transferring that to Harmony with a complimentary bus xfer. It was our first time on Harmony and it is very clean - almost sterile compared to the others. Loved it!

Finally home, regroup, and get ready for our next one on Friday.
