  1. The issue is not if a TA charges a cancellation fee but the lateness of the decision by Azamara. There are 2 options and ring if you’re not satisfied. The 3rd option should be a full refund. Fortunately our TA while taking a $200 cancellation fee of our full refund turns it into a future  travel credit which they are applying to another cruise we had already booked with them.

Given all other cruise lines cancelled weeks ago Azamara decision making needs improvement.

Royal Caribbean’s World cruise has rerouted via Africa after putting it to a vote with their passengers and are now trying to organise the necessary vaccinations and any visas required for their passengers.
It looks like it’s now only Azamara and HAL with their 2024 World cruise who are prevaricating about transiting the Red Sea.
Our cruise that transit the Red Sea is not until October so we have plenty of time to replan but I feel for those with cruises starting in April & May. Could it be that now independent Azamara lack the resources to quickly replan the effected itineraries?

Hal has also re routed around Africa , has Virgin, Island Princess and Coral Princess. Seabourne cancelled the last leg of their cruise and sailed around Africa without passengers. We cancelled Azamara Spice cruise on Friday as we need some decision and fortunately managed to get on a Viking river cruise.

I wonder if the World Cruisers are an extra challenge re Onward. They are already on board and the South Africa route might give vaccination challenges

Other lines have either cancelled this leg of the cruise and sailed around Africa without passengers or drastically changed their itinerary around Africa. However vaccinations are a problem . Given Seabourne cancelled the last leg through the Red Sea leaving May 2 , it’s should be a no brained for Azamara.

  4. We sadly cancelled yesterday and are receiving a full refund no penalties from Azamara. A three way call between my TA , Azamara Aus rep and myself  solved the issue. I then rang Viking and brought forward a river cruise to fill the void. Unfortunately it will cost extra for flights from Singapore. Just could not wait any longer for Azamara to make a decision. Good luck all

No they didn’t, I was referring to the Journey 26 day cruise departing Singapore 03/05/24

    hope this helps

Thanks for the info, in the process of trying to get Azamara to write to our agent indicating that information. There appears to be different information from different customer relations agents with Azamara. I wish they would stop monitoring and make a decision like all other cruise lines.

Interesting....Seabourn Sojourn has announced termination of that identical (which was the final) leg i.e. Singapore to Athens a day earlier (2nd May), on their ATW cruise. The only reason we know this is because the ship will then transit with crew only, around Africa to Athens to recommence the scheduled cruises from Athens and we have just booked the Athens to Barcelona cruise 5 June.

This is a replacement for the cancelled Oceania Insignia cruise, Barcelona to Southampton, which was part of the ATW cruise which can no longer transit the Red Sea area. All being well, this will be a new cruiseline experience for us.

Thanks for that, yet another cruise cancelled. I am think about the cost of a flack jacket 🤣🤣

At least Azamara  is looking at a change for October. Viking Sky and Neptune are due in the Red Sea for Suez 4th and 7th April and still no information  on itinerary  changes.

We are booked on Azamara Journey Singapore to Athens May 3 and the only comment has been we are monitoring the situation. Most cruise lines have cancelled cruise through the Red Sea for March, April and May. Hopefully your October cruise can go ahead and peace resumes in the Middle East.

So we're booked on the Journey cruise through the Suez (May 3-29).

Azamara announced a sale today, which includes a tripling (to 30%) of the quarterly discount on the Journey's cruise right after ours.  (Athens-Istanbul)

Similarly, the Onward, (which sails our itinerary about a month ahead of us) also had its' post-Suez transit cruise put on the 30% sale.  Even more significantly, the actual Onward cruise through the canal is also on the sale.  (Note, however, that there is a significant difference - the Onward is on an ATW cruise - Azamara has much less leeway regarding cancellation...)

I can't imagine Azamara putting the post-transit cruises on sale if they were considering cancelling them.  (Just more unhappy customers...)  Neither can I imagine them committing to the canal transit.  If they don't go through the canal AND they stick to the May 29th date for the Athens-Istanbul cruise - the only way they can get the ship there on time is drop all but the necessary fueling ports, put the pedal to the metal, and speed around Africa.  I sure hope they offer us either cancellation or a full-money-back opt-out.

I wrote to Azamara and received a reply promptly. It confirms they are monitoring the situation and current information indicates they will be able to continue with the same itinerary. They also said they would inform us of any changes to itinerary or cancellation. While I trying to be positive , I am checking out alternatives in Europe. We had to cancel this cruise in the covid period, so I guess our visit to these ports may never take place. Mind you it’s a first world problem and I hope that a resolution can be found for the people suffering in the Middle East on all sides.
