  1. Strange... I just spoke with NCL Customer Service rep and she without hesitation confirmed that “hair straighteners” are permitted without issue. So be sure to pack a “hair straightener” and not your “flat iron”. We are sailing Sunday and I don’t dare travel without it, especially in humid climates! I’m hoping they didn’t get the word down to the inspectors of my luggage... I will have to wait and see what happens in a few days.

  2. you're welcome! 2 more weeks and i'll be cruising up good vibrations out of NYC!! lol.. just playin' :D so far i'm forward in a bc balcony but i had to bid on a mini suite.. i just love the game!

Hopefully you get the spa mini, which would be awesome!!! I noticed today that the category is selling out. Good Luck and hope you win your bid!

  3. Sounds like playing the lottery! I am not really looking forward to arriving 3 or 4 hours early and hanging around. I’ll just take my chances since it won’t be the end of world if I am unable to get them. We have lived through every other cruise without it and don’t see why we can’t live through this one! Good luck getting your Vibe On!!!

  4. Good Morningggg Cruise Critics! Welcome to Day 3 as we continue to Breakaway from the Everyday...

I mentioned yesterday that I thought the wake looked a bit off for the port propeller, what do you think...

Along the way they have Arrival Plaques from the Breakaways first calls at various ports.. nothing new since last May that I noticed...

Definitely can notice a difference and see what you are talking about. DH wonders if they hit something while docking and bent a shaft of the port prop... LOL! Just has a mechanical mind I guess.. I never really thought about it before. However, I am continuing to enjoy your updates!

  5. First I am glad you are enjoying and hope you have a blast.

You say you are in a midship balcony, we are dead aft so they may not be comparable, however there is some vibration in our cabin at least last night but nothing that was excessive or rattled anything to make noise. It also helped us have a great night sleep. If you are midship I think you should be fine.

Funny you should mention a mechanical issue as I noticed the port propellor seemed to have a reduced wake compared to the starboard wake so I am wondering if that is it. But I heard nothing about any issues. The ship is swaying a bit more in the aft cabin but thankfully it does not bother us.

Again, I cannot see anything pronounced to say you should be concerned.

Thank you for the speedy reply and an even bigger thank you for taking time from your vacation to help ease my worried mind! Looking forward to more great inside info!!!

  6. Seadog, Its been awesome to tag along with you on your cruise!!! I'm hoping you can help put my mind at ease on this one! We sail 11/5 and have booked a mid-ship balcony cabin on deck 13. I have read several reviews / reports that there is a severe vibration at the aft of the ship due to a problem with something mechanical. Can you confirm if you have noticed anything out of the ordinary? We once booked an aft balcony on RC Brilliance of the Seas and it was the worst experience ever. Kept me awake every night for the entire cruise. I am trying to prepare myself for a free vibrating bed! Any information will be appreciated!

  7. i believe the thrusters that cause the vibration are in the back of the ship...thus the aft vibration in garden cafe. mid ship is a great location to feel the least amount of movement.

BA IS ALSO DUE FOR DRYDOCK ..i think in march or april..

dont worry..have a little faith! u will be fine:)

Thank you for talking me off of the ledge!!! We once stayed in an aft balcony on RC's Brilliance of the Seas and it was horrible, between the shoot and the constant vibration I thought I would lose my mind! We don't spend a lot of time in our room and my DH ( previously a sailor in the US Navy) seems to think that with the size of the ship we will be fine. I am super excited about this cruise and don't believe one silly post about some vibration will make a difference!!!

  8. We are sailing BA, two weeks from today and I have to admit we are very concerned with the newly reported vibration issue! We have sailed on other Carnival and RC ships with this same issue and have found it quite disturbing, especially in our cabin and dining rooms. We are booked in a Mid-Ship Balcony on deck 11... How bad is it really? Please ease my mind... somebody/anybody???

  9. Awesome attitude and outlook! I hate to admit it... but I've made a few of the same mistakes as you. It only took me one time and I'm happy to say I've learned from it!!! I only cruise with my husband going forward (because he doesn't care what we do or where we go). Glad you made the best of sticky/stinky situation!!!

  10. Love the cabin and the activities seem entertaining activities. I'm going on a 3 day in February and I have been battling if I should upgrade to an oceanview. I have an inside cabin but I figured the 3 days will go by so fast. I usually get a balcony for my 7 days.

We sailed last November in an inside cabin. It was tiny! If we ever sail the sky again I will definitely upgrade to a balcony! Wall to wall bed and lived out of my suitcase for 3 days!
