Ok...FLA Natives....Booked the Victoria Park Hotel....Is the area safe? things to do? things to see? approx.$$ for cab to and from airport and to cruise terminal? Read the reviews seems nice....Thanks in advance for all your input:)

Are you asking about Hyatt or Hyatt Place? Either are good.
The park where the ships go by is called John Lloyd State Park; it's on the south side of the port, and there are no hotels within walking distance.
It is walking distance from 17th St to the beach where the rocks are on the north side of the port, but I'm not sure how you get there without trespassing through private property. The only way I know there is total public access is through the South Beach Park, and that is about a mile from the port. I guess you could cut through Lago Mar Hotel without too much trouble, but not sure that's really allowed.
You can easily watch the ships go out from the 17th St. bridge.
Looking at the Hyatt on 17th whats the comparison to the Hyatt Pier 66 to that like besides no free breakie;)
-
Is the Hyatt 17th a good place for a 3 day stay...is it a safe walking distance to the park to watch the ships sailaway? or would you recommend somewhere else /

Did you check hotwire? You are looking at one of the most expensive weeks of the year. A decent hotel in a good location will run you at least $200 a night.
I just checked. There is a four star Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel for $173 a night.
Honestly, that is a steal.
Ive never used Hotwire or Priceline before...i kinda like to know where ive booked, always afraid i might end up with something that i didnt want or a crappy location in that area
-
Was hoping to stay around the $150 mark per...with the CDN rate that adds up pretty quickly as well
-
Sorry Double checked...there were rooms but not up to what were after ....looked nice but the price was higher than La Quinta...Feb 13-16 are the dates we're after
-
my dates were booked :(...have la quinta tentatively booked but want to find something better...and i will:D ...with your help of course
-
Probably been beating to death but to many pages to go through...but where would you recommend staying 3 days pre cruise in Mid feb 2016...We stayed at LaQuinta Hollywood couple of years back for one day ...but would like something more beachworthy and closer to shopping and restaurants...any corporate rates out there? I know Valutrips doesnt have there 2016 rates up yet unfortunately

It was great meeting you guys...Hope all is well....Back into the frozen tundra of winter....wish we were back on a beach!!!
-
We ate at cafe Puerto Rico in OSJ ..the Mofongo's were outstanding and so were the drinks ;)
-
Lots of great info...what pricing did you do on priceline in the 4 star category for either the Embassy Suites, etc.? Never used Priceline before...like all trying to save a few $$ for our 2 day pre-cruise
-
We stayed at LaQuinta on North 26 good location for restaurants...not for water taxi...however you could rent a vehicle and tour around like we did
-
Agreed...thanks for doing this ....very helpful
-
Im finding that Princess Prices have really gone up and the deals arent there as they use to be....even for loyal customers :(
-
We stayed at the LaQuinta on North 26th ...loved the location..enter******

As i have been flamed ....i do prefer Anytime and YES we do make reservations once or twice (depending on itinerary scheduling and evening shipboard events) If they have room Princess will accommodate and give us times available or we will lounge around and wait or go to the Buffet. And yes waiting to get flamed again....:D
-
Agreed 1140 is okay.....but book your own transportation to the airport and be one of the first off ship
-
This has been my experiance also as Pam has stated.
Why have anytime dining if you can make reservations
Sorry to hear that....didnt say i make reservations every night ...we may do that once or maybe twice a cruise then just go with the flow later in the evening...
-
Depending on the ports and scheduling we will usually call and reserve a table prior to leaving the ship in the morning if we have a set time in mind and in keeping with evening entertainment that we may wish to see
-
We have always done Anytime ..Firstly is because of Port times, i dont want to feel rushed to get back for "dinner", Second , we usually always check the menu early in the Morning to see whats on the palet table, if its to our appeal we will call dining reservations and pick the earliest and best time for us ...if you we dont care for the menu of the day....buffet or specialty its worked for us and we like the dinner time at "our preference"
-
Because we have the flexibility we no longer book that far out.
We are on the Princess stanby email list and just watch for great deals from about 6 weeks or closer out. We just have issues sometimes with Ft Lauderdale and flights because its always so busy and not many flights abvailable. :)
You still able to get deals on any 10 day cruises 6 weeks out in prime winter months?
-
Is it best to plan that far ahead when the prices are high? When do you see prices normally drop especially on 10 day cruises next Feb.? Our price offered was $1400 CDN its pretty steep but they seem to fill up quickly for those and we dont know if we should hold off for the price fact alone..
-
I don't understand why people make a set dining reservation in Anytime dining. Why not just go traditional? Especially if they only let you make early or late reservations. What am I missing?
We do exactly that...reserve in anytime dining...3 or 4 different port times...sea days ....different events going on around the ship...Once we look at the Patter we plan accordingly to what we like to do...that includes our dining at different times
