  1. There are no cruises to Hawaii during this time of year...

Cruises to Hawaii this year April 2015 and October 2015 from Los Angeles:

Apr 4 Los Angeles (San Pedro), CA Los Angeles (San Pedro), CA Princess / Ruby

    Princess

Oct 3 Los Angeles (San Pedro), CA Los Angeles (San Pedro), CA Princess / Ruby Princess

Oct 17 Los Angeles (Long Beach), CA Los Angeles (Long Beach), CA Carnival / Carnival

Oct 17 Los Angeles (San Pedro), CA Los Angeles (San Pedro), CA Princess / Crown Princess

    And from San Francisco:

Apr 29 San Francisco, CA San Francisco, CA Princess / Star Princess

Sep 25 San Francisco, CA San Francisco, CA Princess / Grand Princess

  2. I don't think I would want to do a full cruise on any of these mega-ships. Maybe a 2 or 3 day, just to check out the ship, but that's about it.

I'm sorry RCCI is going this route. Once my favorite cruise line, I'm beginning to rethink who's best in my book.

Thanks for such and interesting read!

  3. It's just a rumor. I live in Cabo six months a year, I am here right now.

The arch is in great shape. Lover's Beach as well as Medano Beach have shrunk, but they will regenerate themselves. Tours are going out daily to the arch. The whales are one of the biggest populations seen in awhile. They are still plentiful right now.

Thank you! Good to know the iconic arch is still standing. See you next month!

  4. On one of the Princess roll calls for the Mexican Riviera someone said that the famous rock arch in Cabo had been turned to a pile of rocks by the hurricane in September.

Does anyone know if this is true or not? How about Lover's Beach, is it still there?

  5. I am 'religious' about taking water shoes on almost every beach vacation I go on. Having done the Mexican Riviera cruise many times, I have found all of the beaches I've gone to are rock-free. If you're the type to wander off the beaten path, you may want to bring them along, but in general I'd say no.

  6. I took my first cruise 41 years ago this month. I was single, had just come out and decided I wanted to see the Caribbean. I was terrified about the cruise itself. Would I fit in? Would I meet any gay guys? Would I have fun?

That cruise turned out to be the first of many more. I met so many people and each and every one of them were sweet, kind and loads of fun to be with. I even met an officer on the ship who I invited to visit me in California. He did, 6 months later and we had a grand time together during the 6 weeks shore leave. We're still friends.

Are you going to have a good time? More than likely, yes. Be open to meeting new people, gay and straight and just know you will come away from the experience of a cruise a better person.

  7. We are seriously thinking about booking this cruise. :)

Yes, it does look really good. They're also doing the same itinerary in 2016. My only problem with it is the time of year. The Mexican coast is still in its rainy period in October. November would give me sunnier skies.

Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo is really beautiful. I spend a week there in November 2014 and want to go back.

    Happy Sailing!

  8. If you are willing to leave out of San Diego, Norwegian is going to Ixtapa later this year with 2 or 3 cruises:

Fri Oct 2 San Diego, CA 4:00pm

    Sat Oct 3 At Sea

    Sun Oct 4 At Sea

    Mon Oct 5 At Sea

    Tue Oct 6 Acapulco, Mexico 8:00am 5:00pm

    Wed Oct 7 Ixtapa, Mexico 7:00am 3:00pm

Thu Oct 8 Puerto Vallarta, Mexico 10:00am 7:00pm

    Fri Oct 9 Mazatlan, Mexico 8:00am 5:00pm

Sat Oct 10 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 8:00am

Sun Oct 11 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 2:00pm

    Mon Oct 12 At Sea

Tue Oct 13 San Diego, CA 8:00am

  9. So you're only accepting of others who have your "vast" experience of cruising (I see you were overly-solicitous to someone who you deemed "worthy" by their cruise experience, yet they were saying the same thing as me), but the rest of us are dismissed.

You're a real gem. Just because I haven't cruised for 40+ years doesn't mean I'm not right. Please don't sail Princess. Stick with whatever line you've come from.

I know you're not typical of Princess passengers; Most are kind, agreeable and courteous. By telling me not to sail Princess, you defeat the very reason for this board. The harsh winter you're experienced has obviously made you a very grumpy individual. May your weather warm up and may your attitude be adjusted. Happy sailing, just not on the same cruise as mine!

  10. Then you and your "many close friends" are wrong. As another said, your steward says yes because the don't want you to complain. By staying late you inconvenience the steward and the new passengers coming on who may be delayed in getting into their cabin when they board.

Until you get 40+ years of cruising under your belt and spend a career in the travel business, I suggest you keep your limited knowledge of the workings of a ship crew to yourself.

  11. Well, I think everyone here agrees with me... I've sailed enough to know how to appreciate the very hard working crew. I'd personally would never require staying in the cabin past the requested time to be out (which, on Princess, is 8:30 a.m.). Turnaround day is very difficult on the crew and wouldn't imagine adding to it.

I think I know enough about courtesy and thoughtfulness, which you seem to be in dire need of.

Happy sailing, Working 2 Cruise, I wish you nothing but the best!

  12. Yes, absolutely thoughtless and inconsiderate... Your cabin steward didn't say no because he or she is afraid of your complaining.... Your conduct causes a heavy burden on him and her... they have to get the cabins ready for the new passengers, which is impossible with you in the cabin. So, you cause him or her to fall behind in his or her duties, which, in turn, gets them in trouble with their manager... You don't see anything wrong with that????

Oh, give me a break. I have been cruising since 1974 and have many close friends who still work on ships - including room stewards. They have ALL told me that it is perfectly acceptable to vacate the room by 10 a.m. as long as the room steward has agreed. It also helps to give them a little extra $$$ for their trouble.

Keep sailing and asking questions, you may learn a thing or two.

  13. I assume you love giving your cabin steward huge problems? That's so inconsiderate and thoughtless and selfish! You're also keeping new passengers from embarking... shame on you!

Inconsiderate? Thoughtless? Selfish? Oh, please! I always check with my stateroom attendant and have told them of my plans not to be fully out until 10:00 a.m. Every time, and I mean every time, they have told me no problem. Just asking in advance for a little more time has always been given the 'OK.'

  14. After an involuntary 7 year break from cruising, I will be on the Ruby next month. I’m feeling a little rusty about cruising again, so I would appreciate any tips you could pass along regarding the Ruby and Princess Cruises in general. I have a mini on the Emerald deck; Mexican Riviera itinerary.

Many thanks for any advice offered!
