  1. Thank you, everyone. :) Yes, I know Alaska is part of the U.S.! :p

So, now it seems like a silly question to ask. BUT, I did read somewhere that "cash only" accepted and I can't remember where that was, so I was questioning where/why so we are prepared. Maybe it was the street carts. Maybe also about taking the Blue Bus in Juneau or elsewhere? or maybe at a vendor on an excursion. There are quite a few places, even in the U.S., that still take "cash only".

    thanks again for the feedback!

  2. I thought I read somewhere that some places in some of the ports only accept cash?

For Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan - do many of the paces accept debit or credit cards? Thanks!

  3. eek! That doesn't sound good! Wonder what is in that stuff to make you burn?? doesn't sound right...

FYI, don't let the sharp shower gel linger on the more delicate areas of your body. You might find its a tad more than refreshing. Burning would be more like it. :(
  4. Do they have body wash, shampoo, conditioner in the showers? Are they in dispensers or in hotel size samples just the first day?

What beverages are included without paying extra? Do you get all coffees or are some extra?

  5. We are traveling this Friday but didn't get this message yet from HAL. Some traveling later than us have already received it. Are they sending to everyone or just random, I wonder? My 80 yo aunt is traveling with us and I don't need her (or my kids for that matter) catching the flu!

  6. My aunts are taking this bus/shuttle after the cruise (we are docking at Canada Place in Vancouver) to the Seattle airport. Has anyone done this recently? a few questions:

it doesn't show any "post-cruise" transportation, even though I booked through HAL. How do we know when the shuttle leaves and if they will be able to disembark on time? They don't have a flight that day (staying a few days to visit), so we don't have the post-cruise flight info.

Where do they find this shuttle when they get off the ship?

I s'pose I could call HAL back and ask them too, but thought I'd check on any recent experiences.

  7. Also - the restaurants don't have to be "kid-friendly" in the sense that they have kids menus. Our kids eat all kinds of seafood, fish, shellfish, etc. so we don't need something that offers chicken fingers and mac-n-cheese only :D. by kid-friendly, I really meant kid-appropriate (I've seen some reviews that say they wouldn't take their kids/grandkids into a few places)

Also, I have a running list of places in each port, so I sort of know what's out there, but I'm really looking for that "wow" factor restaurant - based on your experiences.

    thanks again!

  8. I've seen some posts about whether or not to eat at the ports or on the ship, and i've seen the comments back on those. We will decide which is best as far as that goes.

However, we do like some good, fresh seafood and while I understand it is cheaper to eat on the ship(already paid for), is there one good restaurant you ate at that you'd highly recommend (great food, local culture, etc.) in

    Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan?

If you only wanted to eat off the ship at one port and wanted a good meal (good seafood, local experience - also appropriate for kids so not the saloons some people have said no appropriate for kids :) ) which one restaurant/which port would YOU pick? Keep in mind that it does not have to be a fancy meal to be a "don't-miss" experience for us. We just want good food, with a "local" feel (i.e. not subway - which I would hope no one would pick anyway! :)).

If I'm missing some other post/sticky about this, feel free to let me know. I feel like i've lived on these boards the past few weeks and have done tons of searches for different parts of my trip research. but for this, haven't been able to narrow it down.

And yes, I know, food is a "personal" decision. Just wanted to get some opinions from all of you on what stood out and where you would go back on your next trip.

    Thanks for the feedback!
