Ditto... The core group I'm part of will be flying into Venice airport (VCE). We're part of a larger group of seasoned EU cruisers. Those that have been to Venice before are option to fly into Trieste (TRS) to be closer to the ship and not have to take the train or bus to meet the ship.

Airfares like what you're seeing Florida is the reason why Carnival pulled out of EU! Airfares where costing more than an inside cabin on the lowest level of the ship!

My group of 15 others picked the inaugural cruise, with the advise of our TA, to get better pricing with airfares and hotel rates. And boy did we snag some deals about three weeks ago when airfares dropped. Round trip out of PHL was under $900 after dropping from $1200!! Going just before summer starts was wise on our part!

Thank you very much for this post. I have been monitoring their flights for our upcoming cruise on Vista (Inaugural Cruise - Trieste - Barcelona). Have a group of people leaving from PHL and MCI and we were close to getting tixs recently but opted to wait... Glad we did!!!

Booked the inaugural cruise. What an exciting itinerary it is too! Can't wait!!

I'm just curious how the area will be monitored. I suspect the S&S cards will open access does for those with that privilege. What's to stop someone from sneaking in when the door is closing as someone departs? Doubtful if there will be monitors. But maybe there will be!!

Very helpful posts indeed... I just need to "sell Bermuda" to my group of friends as we've been traveling for the past 5 years on various cruise ports mainly in the Caribbean.

I'm looking at one of the 5 or 7 day cruises that have one in Bermuda for 2 or 6 days respectively. I was starting to wonder if we'd get bored as we've never been in a port for more than a half day thus far in our travels.

Wish me luck selling them on this cruise!!

My partner and I are booked on the inaugural cruise as well!! Will be bringing maybe a couple GLBT friends along if they can get their acts together and put down a deposit instead of find excuses!! LOL

We're there though. Will be staying in Venice for 3 days pre-cruise and maybe 4 days in Barcelona post -cruise. Barcelona is my 2nd home after spending every other summer vacation there in college as an exchange student. Only fitting that I return once again.

This 2016 cruise on Vista will be our first EU cruise as well. It was a good thing that our TA made us aware of it as we were looking to book a Caribbean cruise again.

Good Luck with your RR! I've had no problems at all with mine since obtaining a set three years ago!

I place the initial stash in the checked luggage when boarding ship. All pouches go undiscovered. Then when in port, cargo shorts pockets and even backpacks are used to get stuff back on the ship. Just make sure that on your person you don't have ANY metal that "just might" set off the alarms.

On last cruise, a travel buddy came through the X-ray machine behind me once and forgot to remove his belt. They pulled him aside rather than sending him back through and he was busted! Fortunately he only had one pouch on him!
