  1. I was on the May 24th, 2015 sailing of the Breakaway from NYC to Bermuda and was also kind of nervous of the weather.

The 2 sea days to Bermuda were nice and sunny. It was warm enough to go swimming in the pools and get some sun. The pools were heated, but the air temperature was just fine to be out. The sailing was nice and calm - no rough seas.

During the 3 days in Bermuda (May 27 - 29) the weather was also warm and sunny, however there was a strong wind that blowing for the whole time we were docked. Not quite sure what it was, everyone we spoke to had a different story. In any case we made the best of it and went to the beaches for a couple hours on 2 days. Apart from the wind the weather was great, and the seas were not as cold as I was expecting. I HATE cold water, and had no trouble going in.

During the one day back to NYC it was sunny and warm in the morning, but later in the day it got cloudy and cooler.

We were told that Bermuda weather is hard to predict, even with today's technology. Apparently they are used to getting 4 seasons in one day - from what the locals told us!

Many people I spoke to say they always travel to Bermuda in late May as they try to beat the heat of the summer and hurricane season. I would definitely go back during this time, it was perfect!

  2. I just got off the Breakaway on May 31. We were booked in stateroom 13836 and LOVED the extra space of the angled balcony. The regular balconies are only a few inches wider then the width of the chair on the balcony. I was actually quite surprised how large our balcony was.

It didn't cost us any more then the other staterooms in the category (I think it was BA) and highly recommend the angled balconies if you can snatch one up!

  3. I was actually able to add just the soda package to my son booked in the room with my husband and I. I just called NCL directly and they did it for one guest in the room with no problem or questions asked. When I tried to add it online, it added it to all 3 of us.

Not sure if it they will do the same for the UBP, but it's worth a call to NCL to find out!

  4. .

Another possibility is the shared ride shuttle that runs between Dockyard and Horseshoe Bay. $16 per person round trip.

That is a great price for a roundtrip transfer to Horseshoe Bay. Do you know the name of the company we should look for, or are they easy to spot once your in the dockyard?

  5. I'm really confused and I will tell you why. My family ,husband ,wife and 15 year old son are travelling to NY to cruise on the breakaway for xmas. We will be coming in from Toronto the day before and I am looking for our pre cruise hotel that will have parking and our plans are to park at the cruise port for the week we are away. We do want to site see the day we arrive so something with transportation or walking distance would be great.

Budget is limited with our exchange rate on the us dollar at 25 % right now,

but if the hotel is just right then I will spend more.

Any help you amazing CC people could give me would be appreciated.

We are doing the same thing in about 3 weeks and have had no luck finding NYC hotels that offers parking for the week. I recently came across the Embassy Suites Secaucus (NJ) that offers a cruise/park package - but it's sold out on our date! Here is the web link. Check it out for your sailing.

  6. I have been reviewing the summer ferry schedule that was recently posted and have a question about the tickets.

Can tickets be used on the ferry as well? Is it one ticket per direction? I am thinking that for the group of 3 adults, in my party, it's probably better to purchase the ticket booklet of 15 tickets for $37.50, to be used among the 3 of us. We are only planning one roundtrip bus or ferry ride per day, so I would think it's cheaper to purchase these tickets rather then a 2 day pass. We plan to travel 2 days and spend one day walking around the port.

    Thanks!

  7. eeekkk!!!! I have never heard of these things. I am always a little on edge at beaches, with so many creatures swimming around, now I have another thing to worry about, great!!!

  8. I would like to purchase the soda package for when we sail on the Breakaway in May, and understand that it's slightly cheaper to buy now rather then on board. However, as you all may know if you add it now then all guests in the stateroom also have to purchase the package.

Is this the same policy if you were to purchase on board? The last time we sailed on NCL was in 2011 on the Pearl. I only recall buying it for one guest in my stateroom on board at that time.

Anyone have any recent experiences to share? I would rather not have to buy for everyone in the stateroom.

  9. I am doing my first NCL Breakaway Bermuda sailing this coming May and am just curious what the ship is like while docked in Bermuda for 3 full days.

For those that have done this sailing before, did you find the ship tends to "empty out" while docked for 3 days? I would imagine most guests would return in time for dinner/sleeping.

  10. This May 24th will be my first cruise to Bermuda as well as my first 2 consecutive days at sea - crossing the Atlantic from NYC to Bermuda.

I would love to hear feed back from anyone who may have completed this crossing, as I'm a bit nervous of sailing the open Atlantic for 2 days! I am a well travelled cruiser, in the Caribbean, and have never really had any seasickness in the past.

Any stories or tips for the sailing are appreciated!
