  1. Quick question for Odyssey aficionados.  Looking to book Med cruise for next July but am concerned that the Odyssey only seems to have double sofa beds not pullmans for the children. Is this correct?

There is no way that the children will share a double sofa bed. Even looking at interior cabins it says that they have sofa beds, not pullmans which is very unusual for an interior cabin. It looks like tow balconys are the way to go if we want interconnecting rooms

  2. I see that the website has been updated today. Main interest regarding tests is here:

We also organise testing which will be required to disembark the ship in Southampton, per UK government requirements, and testing that may also be required to go ashore in various destinations on your itinerary. These tests will be available to purchase on board, at a cost of £18 per antigen test per person and £25 per PCR test per person. Currently the majority of ports we will be visiting this year do not require entry testing. However all guests disembarking in the UK are currently required to take a UK re-entry antigen test. All requirements are subject to change. During your holiday, destinations on your itinerary may have various documentation requirements. You are responsible for meeting the entry requirements of each destination but we will be happy to guide you through all testing and documentation needs on board. P&O Cruises cannot accept responsibility if you are denied entry to a country because you do not meet its entry requirements.

But that is not your problem.  You have ordered it, the rest is down to the supplier.

Anyway, hopefully the Day 2 test may soon not be needed for double vaccinated travellers.

I keep waiting for the gov's change to travel tests. Fingers crossed that they get rid of the necessity for the returning PCR test.

It is good for those with children if P&O allow them to travel provided they have negative PCR and LFT tests but I wonder if the decision may come back and bite them.  If the press is to be believed these tests show a lot of false negatives.

We all know that being double vaccinated does not prevent you from being infected but my experience is that a lot of older people are still very worried about being near to non-vaccinated people and I wonder if allowing unvaccinated children on board will deter them from cruising with P&O.  It could be good news for other cruise lines where vaccination is a condition of boarding.

Thanks for posting that info. It would seem that the return test will be available from P&O direct then which would simplify things a lot. I also like the fact that independent shore trips will be allowed.  Perhaps I will get my coffee and cake in Germany this year!

  5. Picsa, you appear to be echoing my thoughts exactly as regards the restart if international cruising.

We are booked on the Northern European cruise on 23rd October which is due to go to Germany and the Netherlands. At present, green countries require a test 72 hours before returning to the UK. How can P&O expect every passenger (3000?) to take a test? Also, who do they report a possible positive test to?  How can the ship disembark passengers that have not been cleared by UK border force as having evidence of a negative test as would be required if entering the UK by air?

There ares o many questions that, unlike wowzz's belief, are not covered by the UK gov website or P&O website.  Also, how can passengers return to a UK ship from an excursion if the country they are visiting requires a negative test to be able to return to the UK?

All very confusing, and I would not be at all surprised if our cruise becomes a cruise to nowhere or a UK port only cruise. (I wouldn't mind either way to be honest).
