  1. I think the charge for CC class varies greatly. Sometimes it's c. $200 pp, sometimes $150, sometimes $100 pp, and only rarely $50. That's set by Celebrity based on supply and demand. Someone here said that a few times CC can be even slightly less than a regular veranda, but I've never seen that....

Our 10/28 Summit cruise has CC at $250 less than balcony and AQ $150 less likely due demand.

  2. We sail Celebrity all the time and we always chose drinks package as perk. When you take into consideration water, juice, 1-2 drinks at sail away, 1-2 wine at dinner, cocktail during show, nightcap on veranda, we have surpassed the cost. It is nice to grab a bottle water on way off ship on island. Not to mention your individual drink coast, you need to add taxes and grats. Also you don't have to sign or keep track of what you bought. Believe me even with drink package they try to charge you. And if you don't catch before you leave, you are SOL

Our upcoming Celebrity Cruise was $799 for 7 day Southern Caribbean balcony with Drink package and $300/cabin obc...I don't drink but considering the value it's worth checking out Celebrity when they have sales also that make the cruise overall a better value than Carnival. Maybe a slightly different experience but most cruises are great regardless of operator. Just sharing for those that are shopping around for a more inclusive experience. Have an awesome day!

  3. I've been fortunate to cruise several lines...Most have been great and more similar than different...But although we are platinum on Carnival, we too are sailing with other lines also...But will likely go back yet will remain unloyal to any single line...I've had some amazing meals on Carnival. I am definitely over the short cruises from the west coast...Would rather stay home.

  4. I think it is totally unreasonable.

Just imagine if you are renting a car for one day, arrive at the counter at 11 but are told that your car is available at 1 but you have to return it by 7 am.

It is not that the passengers that are the problem but the decision by Celebrity to cut the staff so that they cannot complete the task in the time allotted.

If we're paying for a day onboard I want the facilities for 24 hours, not 20' not 18 or anything less.

At one time celebrity would advise passengers to board at staggered times. Why not have departures staggered? Not everyone can disembark at once, not all cabins can be cleaned at once. Why have everyone vacate their cabin at once?

Hotels often allow check-in at 3 and check-out at 11. Same thing. Perhaps Celebrity could mirror something similar (1pm check-in and 9 am check-out) and charge extra for late check-out. After all it's a floating hotel that happens to have lots of inclusions.

  5. We have a group of either 14 or 16 (2 haven't booked yet) and have late seating. Is there an option to dine together, I.e. connect two tables or two adjacent tables only? We are in Concierge balcony on Summit if that matters. Thanks!

  6. Not sure when your traveling but did you look at Southwest? My cousin bought tickets from SAN to SJU on Southwest for mid march and paid $760 round trip. Just looked up mid March (just as a reference) to EWR and it was $580 round trip

Please see that I posted our air cost as $347 round trip LAX to San Juan on American. So cheap...and nonstop from LAX to London round trip $498 round trip on Air New Zealand...super affordable.

  7. I feel your pain. I just paid $2172 to fly from SAN to EWR and $2662 to fly from SAN to SJU. Ridiculous! Prices are $1,100 more than last time to the same ports in the same class of service.

Did you check from LAX? We just bought tickets rt to sju for $347 rt. In coach...biz is only $960 rt though. This is for next Oct...11 months out...a week before the cruise we are going to London for a few days...I used miles for biz class but friends paid $498 rt from LA.

  8. Sorry...this is the most beat to death topic but I read another thread where someone asked if it is possible to adjust a drink package from classic alcohol to premium non alcohol. I have the classic alcohol pkg but would prefer to have Pellegrino, virgin Pina Coladas and such. Is this an option?

    Thanks!

  9. I read a recent post but now cannot find it. Can you adjust a classic drink package to a premium non alcoholic package? Can premium non alcohol package get virgin pina coladas. I prefer Pellegrino with dinner but also may want a frozen drink by the pool. I have the classic perk now and could upgrade to the premium drink package I suppose but that may cost more than just adding the Pellegrino ala carte. Thanks from a not so newbie. ;)😉

  10. I am wishing your wife a speedy recovery. I am a nurse and if she takes her time, ambulates, and continues to take her antibiotics; she will do fine.

She will probably only be able to do minimal activities on the first leg of your cruise (which I will be on). But the second leg, she should be improving more and more each day.

Let this be her recovery therapy. It sure beats sitting at home.

Hope to see you on the cruise:D.

I thought the same thing...hopefully you have a balcony so she can get lots of rest during the cruise with no responsibilities for anything to do...guilt be gone. And with a balcony can get lots of fresh air and sunshine to speed her recovery.

  11. I understand the disappointment relative to what was in control of Carnival. I had a similar situation years ago on Royal Carribean when the engine had an issue.

While the rough seas and return to port may have had additional impact, those are issues that can happen on any cruise, so completely out of the cruise lines control.

Most of the time the cruise lines avoid bad weather and rough seas when possible....face it, they only want to provide a great vacation so you will come back and spend more money.

As far as the partial missing port goes and late return, I think that there would have been some type of compensation already given. I would have been disappointed in missing half the day...snorkeling in Cozumel is great! A gesture to bring you back, ala 25 percent credit of what you paid for your base fare toward a future cruise would have been appropriate imo.

As far as raising the concern whilst still on board, when I experienced this, there were hundreds of people doing this at guest services and the lobby was full. They moved the crowd to the show lounge where the Captain came and explained and offered compensation then and there. Otherwise it would have been mayhem. I would not have subjected myself to all of that negativity and would have just waited until I got home.

Maybe I was more upset at the time, but I have probably taken nearly 20 cruises since then, at its been 10 years, and now I don't really care.

One experience shouldn't cause you to form an overall opinion hence you want to try it again and requested a credit...give it another go and better luck! And do try other lines...while most are similar, each has a bit of a different personality. Bon voyage.

  12. Congrats on your discipline!

I am going to lose 30 pounds before my next cruise...have a year to do it...but doing New Zealand (awesome meat pies) and London (fish and chips) before this cruise. Want to weigh 160.

Egg white omelettes are great for me. I just ask for egg whites and all the vegetables as filling. Delicious.

Right now I am not on a particular plan...just using bread plates rather than dinner plates...very limited dairy, flour and sugar.

Also ask for any sauce or dressings on the side as you tend to use much less.

    Great job!

  13. We have a cruise plannned for late June. When should we book our airfare? We leave from Miami.

This is a popular route. I would wait airlines implement their final schedules...about Feb timeframe. On the JFK MIA route American sometimes schedules a 777 aircraft to position it to MIA from NY...listed as 77w as aircraft type. In those scenarios you can book a business class lie flat bed for coach price...right now about $250 round trip...still get coach service but an amazing seat. I'd keep an eye on it a couple times a week as the date gets closer. Also watch for Jet Blue sales!

  14. Michel Roux

Harpist in Sp dining. She also played for the fancy aft tea.

    Daily water in Aqua class

    Free Zumba classes

Pkg of documents, luggage tags etc mailed to the house and doing the happy dance when we got them.

Funny, I have totally forgotten that we used to get documents and luggage tags in the mail. I agree, it was exciting to get them for some reason...open it up, triple check everything and then put with the passports. I do miss that.

...and the Century, Galaxy, and Mercury.

  15. The OP was asking about an M-Class Celebrity Penthouse Suite. This message thread has gone off in multiple directions / tangents.

I humbly ask that we try to assist the OP with their original question at hand regarding the Celebrity Summit Penthouse Suite (or the M-Class PH Suite).

    Heather

Agreed. Thanks for pointing this out. I was simply making a correction to an earlier incorrect statement made that could be misleading: "In my view, the penthouse cabins on the M class are the best at sea. Nobody else gives you that much real estate."

That is not accurate information as there are other lines that offer more real estate at sea.

    Thanks again.

  16. In my view, the penthouse cabins on the M class are the best at sea. Nobody else gives you that much real estate. LOVED the butler's pantry with a full-size refrigerator. The butler can come in that door early in the morning to leave off coffee and whatever without waking up the occupants. Between the butler, the Michael's Club concierge, and Luminae, you will not lack for good service.

Not saying anything negative but NCL Garden Villa is larger and exquisite. Celebrity Penthouse is 2600 SF while NCL Garden Villa is 6600 SF. With 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a second story sun deck for over 100 people in addition to the lower balcony with jacuzzi , indoor and outdoor dining for 8...complete luxury. My GIF is part of the living room with grand piano behind me...and a wall of windows overlooking the pool area.

  17. Really liked the ad. Clever, beautiful with a bit of controversy...hence it got attention and thus this discussion...mission accomplished.

And I do think most cruises I've been on are luxurious. I've had butler's and the largest cabin (@ the time... it was 6,000 SF w balcony) and smallest (inside 147 SF). Regardless, the ships themselves are typically pretty luxurious with marble floors, linened tables, onyx counters on the bar, gorgeous leathers...random musicians throughout. that is luxurious to me. Happy cruising and let's keep it all in perspective.

    Nice job Celebrity.
