  1. You may not realize this but there are indeed federal laws that apply to promoting your company publicly. You have to declare that you are an employee of said company with every post.

Ex: An employee of Best Buy wants to post something about Best Buy on Facebook about how Best Buy extended their return policy. At the end of the post on the employees personal FB page he/she would have to mention that he/she is an employee.

The troubling thing about you is that so many of your posts are robotic, canned and dry. Almost like a bot is doing the posting.

You may not realize, but I am not a carnival employee. All of the information that I post on these boards come from my opinion and cruising experience.

  2. I guess Carnival realized they can't compete with the quality and safe brands so they will retreat to Florida and continue on their new plan of offering dirt cheap cruises and cutting costs at every corner.

Carnival has decided to temporarily retreat from New York due to stricter EPA regulations in 2015. Carnival will continue to evaluate the situation. Carnivals remains committed to serving guests in the New York area, so this decision may come at a shock to many. Carnival will most likely return once the scrubbers are installed on the ships.

  3. We were at the steakhouse one night, so I don't know if they danced that night, but we had dancing on 2 nights. They did a double on the last night :). The first 2 nights they cancelled the dancing because the dinner service was running so far behind those first few days

    Thank you!

  4. Just got off the Glory this morning. Don't like the no tablecloths because the drink glasses sweat and it puddles on the table. The family style dining is crap. Maybe better if you are with family it would be fine.

We had a horrible head waiter so that didn't make the new dining experience any better.

Nobody monitored clothing ... "Formal" night there was a large family wearing jeans, t-shirts and shorts. Last night, someone in that family had on a wife-beater tank top!

They put the tablecloths on for "formal" night but the atmosphere wasn't there.

Will post a full review some time later this week. I am sitting at the airport waiting for my flight.

Did the waiters still sing an dance every night? Also what is the desert parade? Have a safe trip home

  5. On our first American Feast night, we spilled a drink within minutes after being seated. I laughed to my self thinking it would have cleaned up quick and easy without the tablecloth.

  6. Just off Glory as well-

I like the looks of the dining room, both on casual and elegant nights. Tablecloths were not missed in the casual dining and it did not increase the noise in the room. We didn't have rolling seas, but we did have some clumsy table mates, and there was no breakage or any other issues.

The first couple of days were rough, and dinner was extraordinarily long. This did improve through the week. The first elegant night the menu consisted of choice of entrees only. Appetizers were a sampling of 4 different items and there was one dessert choice. I don't think this went over well, and although the food was delicious, by the 2nd elegant night it was back to several choices in each category. I thought the options on the casual nights were varied and delicious and there is a tropical flan on one night that was fabulous. The first few nights we had sides more family style, but later in the week they came out more individualized, even if we ordered the same thing. Having the sides separately added another column to the order and I think that was some of the hold up in the galley.

We tried very hard to understand that this was not only a new menu, and new

place settings, but also a new process for the servers and the kitchen staff. We did see visible improvements throughout the week, and it seemed that these were the results of the feedback they were getting.

There are several items that no longer appear on the menu, and although they may have been favorite to some, I am sure the numbers of actual orders didn't support keeping them. There are several new items added and I think it's a nice change. No meatloaf! LOL

I think once there are a few weeks of ironing out the process, it will be

    Much smoother.

This wasn't our all time best cruise experience, but it wasn't based on the dining changes. The good and positive far outweighed the problems, and we were with good friends enjoying ourselves. It was fun trying something new and I hope they have a separate survey for everyone on board to complete. I know the dining room staff requested that we be brutally honest with our comments. They also said they had daily meetings to go over the process and feedback. I truly wish people would reserve judgement until they could experience it themselves, because so much of the complaints are just based on utter BS.

Thanks for the feedback. Did the waiters still sing and dance every night? What was the desert parade like? Thanks

  7. CarnivalBreeze319:

It was pretty clear with your Dr. Seuss thread that you either a) have strong ties to someone who works at Carnival or b) work for Carnival yourself. Your announcement here came almost simultaneously with the internal Employee Bulletin being disseminated.

Others have already said it to you, but I'll say it again: Stop overhyping what Carnival is doing and trying to be an unofficial PR person. You're really doing more damage to Carnival than helping them out. Unless you have been specifically authorized by Carnival to do what you're doing here, leave it to them to do the hyping.

Also, be VERY careful with the information that you post here (that may have not been released to the public yet). You're not the first person with internal information trying to be the 1st one to make it public here on Cruise Critic. In the past, when information has been leaked here, some people have lost their jobs at Carnival for trying to beat the official announcement. Believe me, there's no "anonymity" here. You could easily get yourself fired, or worse, get someone, who has trusted you, fired.

I get a lot of information from my colleagues and friends at Carnival almost as soon as they learn about them. But I've also learned to keep that information confidential. I would never jeopardize our friendship or their jobs to post something here.

    Just a friendly suggestion.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I must say that I have no ties to carnival, whatsoever. All of what I write here comes from cruising experience and what I have heard from John heald

  8. Just an observation, but your posts are doing a disservice to Carnival, hyping up what never happens, where reality is so much lower than posted expectations.

    .

Actually. I am not hyping up anything. If I wanted to hype something up, I would start my own thread about live music. All I can say is let's wait a few months and visit this thread again. My guess would be they will announce AMAZING upgrades to entertainment and live music

  9. You're right! Our next cruise is booked on Princess and we will be booking another later this year. We are voting with our wallets, but Carnival doesn't give a rat's backside about those of us who have sailed with them for many years...that is very disappointing!

Encouraging kids to read is admirable. Having a great children's program will be good for kids & families. But doing so at the expense of Carnival's overall cruising experience (other recent changes have been dramatic downgrades), is a HUGE mistake for Carnival. IMHO Carnival would have been smarter to improve entertainment and dining, but we'll just have to see.

In the meantime, Princess (and Royal Caribbean) will get our cruising dollars.

There will be an announcement in the next couple months about entertainment improvements is my guess

  10. Carnival Cruise Lines Partners with Dr. Seuss Enterprises to Bring 'Seuss at Sea' to Kids and Families on 'Fun Ships'

MIAMI, Dec. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- One ship, two ships, it's Dr. Seuss on cruise ships! Carnival Cruise Lines today unveiled an exclusive partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises to bring the beloved children's brand and favorite characters to the line's fleet of 24 "Fun Ships." In an industry first, the Carnival Seuss at Sea program will offer a variety of exciting and immersive onboard youth, family, dining and entertainment experiences featuring the amazing world and words of Dr. Seuss.

"It is fun to have fun but you have to know how," said the Cat in the Hat in the iconic Dr. Seuss book. The fun on Carnival starts in the main dining room during The Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with the Cat in the Hat and Friends. Attendees will have the opportunity to kick off their day dining on playful foods straight from Dr. Seuss's imagination – green eggs and ham, moose juice and goose juice, along with colorful fruit and pancake stacks, funky French toast and more, with traditional breakfast favorites also available. While Carnival's wait staff set the tone with Dr. Seuss-inspired uniforms, popular Dr. Seuss characters such as the Cat in the Hat, Thing One and Thing Two, and Sam will be joining guests at their tables for fun interactions and one-of-a-kind photo opportunities. Hosted on the first sea day of each cruise, this special breakfast will be available for $5 per guest.

Every ship in the Carnival fleet will have a selection of classic Dr. Seuss books, toys and themed activities for children to enjoy. Special showings of beloved movies such as "The Cat in the Hat" and Dr. Seuss's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" will be shown outdoors on the giant screen of the Seaside Theater on Lido Deck as part of the cruise line's Dive-In Movies programming. On Carnival Freedom, which is undergoing a major refurbishment in May, and Carnival Vista, which debuts in early 2016, there will be a Dr. Seuss Bookville facility -- a unique and dedicated Seuss-themed play space featuring iconic decor, colors, shapes and funky furniture inspired by the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss. The perfect place for families to relax, unwind and enjoy each other's company, guests can read one of many available Dr. Seuss books or stretch their imagination through other family-fun activities including arts and crafts, toys and Dr. Seuss-inspired games.

Story time at sea will never be the same with the introduction of Seuss-a-palooza Story Time, A Rhyming Good Time – an interactive reading event that brings to life the colorful world of Dr. Seuss for kids of all ages. Hosted on a sea day each voyage in a custom-created environment on board or within Dr. Seuss Bookville, this memorable storytelling event will feature some of the most beloved Dr. Seuss characters.

At other times during the voyage, children and families will have the chance to meet and interact with favorite Dr. Seuss characters and participate in special photo opportunities featuring colorful and zany Dr. Seuss-inspired artwork, as well as through events and activities such as the Seuss-a-palooza Character Parade where guests can join Dr. Seuss characters in a swirly conga line along the Promenade. A variety of Dr. Seuss-themed retail items will be available, as well.

The Seuss at Sea initiative builds upon Carnival's leadership position in family cruising. The line carries more than 700,000 kids aboard its fleet each year — nearly half of the total number of kids carried by the entire North American cruise industry.

"Our youth and family programming continues to be highly rated and extremely popular with the millions of families who sail with Carnival, but we're constantly challenging ourselves to uncover unique and interesting ways to further enhance our guest experience," said Mark Tamis, senior vice president of guest operations for Carnival Cruise Lines. "We are thrilled to bring the fun, whimsical and wonderful world of Dr. Seuss to life for our guests of all ages to create even more fun and memorable moments during our cruise vacations."

"Dr. Seuss inspires imaginations across generations and encourages a playfulness and whimsy that is often lost in today's 'always on' society," said Susan Brandt, president of Dr. Seuss Enterprises. "We're excited to be working with Carnival Cruise Lines to bring some of the timeless magic of Dr. Seuss to the families that sail each year. Seuss at Sea will let kids and parents alike explore their imaginations through the memorable onboard experiences we're building together."

Roll-out of the Seuss at Sea program will begin aboard Carnival Splendor in February 2014 with implementation across the full fleet by 2015, as well as Carnival Vista when that ship enters service in early 2016.
