  1. Any insight in particular that you are looking for?

We sailed Breeze TA last Nov and again this passed May. Cruised the Sunshine TA earlier this month....for us...an awesome cruise.

Just to state given a CHOICE...to sail only one of them, I'd choose Breeze..but would not hesitate to sail on Sunshine again, in fact looking at a Sunshine Southern carib next April.

I'm sure you know, Sunshine is a fair bit smaller than Breeze, but the Sunshine transformation does give it the look and feel of Breeze as far as the decor of the ship goes, and Sunshine has it's own "unique" to Breeze layout.

One difference...Breeze and Sunshine both have Cucina del Captiano(sp) Italian spots. On Breeze, it's separate, on Sunshine, it sort of melds in with Havana bar which melds into Ji Ji Asian kitchen. Not a negative, just a difference due to ship size difference. But, that aft area of the ship was a nice place to be for meals and to hang out. AND!!! Ji Ji's was/is an awesome spot for dinner. Our whole group totally enjoyed it. Bonsai sushi spot and Farenheitt 555 steakhouse also smaller on Sunshine, but just as good as Breeze.

Both ships have waterworks, Sunshine....3 slides..Breeze 2, but waterworks overall seemed bigger on Breeze...and Breeze had much larger water dump bucket!!!!

I could go on...but to me....biggest difference in ships is simply the size...amenities are very close. We're not big on shows, so not much for me say there...but..liquid lounge to us was a cool place...hung there a few times for music/dance parties. Got a question or 2, I'll give it a go.

Oh..and for those who advised against Sunshine...much of that comes from after drydock....some info was true...alot false, or just plain lies (like non-existent listing issue). But...Sunshine had significant issues after leaving drydock early...all that crap was argued on here. I met several folks on the TA that sailed on those early cruises after drydock...sounded fairly bad...but....16 days across the atlantic could not have been smoother...on any ship. Some work was still being done...a few of those infamous buckets popped up here and there...and then were gone. Some much of the early problems seem to have been resolved. Ship did not at the point of the TA need to be back in drydock. And I guess, compared to Breeze, Sunshine felt a bit more crowded/compact....but....was zero issue for us on the TA.

    Thats it.

Thanks for your feedback. It sounds like while the Sunshine is not as good as the Breeze, it comes pretty darn close? I am concerned about crowding/compact feeling, but I will be cruising in January, so I doubt that this will be a problem? Thanks again

  2. Agreed! I think Carnival really should look in the direction of "Sunshining" more ships to get more modern decor out there and all of the 2.0 enhancements. "Sunshining" the Splendor keeps a large ship (lots of inventory) in NYC with a domed pool for winter sailings, but upgrades the decor and amenities to be on par with Carnival's best at this competitive homeport.

Of course, having seen 8 day cruises this winter on Splendor going for the low $300s per person (less per night than a meal of MDR quality in Manhattan!), it's clear Carnival is in a league of its own vs. the others when it comes to price. I just wish they had better closed loop-New York itineraries than Port Canaveral, Nassau and Freeport. Wonder if we'd ever see a NYC - HMC - Key West - Nassau - NYC sailing? Or a NYC - HMC - Grand Turk - Nassau - NYC sailing?

You would think, but carnival just cancelled the sunshineing of the carnival freedom, which now will only get a 14 day drydock. So who knows what will happen next? I will say that while carnival is not in trouble, they are definitely scrambling and trying to get back on the right track. Let see what the future holds.

  3. Thank you. Pictures aren't as good as normal because my Nikon decided to malfunction and I'll need to get it fixed.

Beverage Manager said Captain Morgan is too popular to do away with and soda guns are being put in some high traffic areas but there are cans too.

Your mileage may vary, but that is what I'm going with. :)

    Thanks sarge

  4. Why does carnival.com allow me to book a cruise on freedonm in april if its in dry dock?. Don't wanna book first of june and have it cancelled

Wow. Your right. Looks like the drydock is only 2 weeks now

  5. What are the dates for the freedom 2.0 dry dock set for?

And where do I find it printed?

Cuz every month it seems like I'm able to book a cruise on the ship. I'm looking in june 2014. Hoping its done by then

The drydock is march 30 to May 4 2014

  6. Not sure what the question is/was but they certainly still have cans. Made LI ICed Tea for me last night and topped it off with canned coke.

Yes. John heald said a fee months ago that carnival was going to switch to fountain soda instead if cans. And I was wondering if that was in place on the sunshine there or if the manager knew anything about it. Thank you.

  7. You're welcome.

Lobby Bartender told me they still have Captain Morgan and a number of liquors that aren't on the menu.

The $1 extra for super premium is a choice - grey goose, ketel one, belvedere, 3 olives, maybe more.

cheers program is $49.95 + 15% a day. they gave me a card with the rules.

Did you happen to find out about the fountain soda?
