  1. Pardon my ignorance. 2nd HAL cruise this Saturday. I gather this drink coupon is only a 1 time use, and it will be collected by the bartender. Right?

So it's basically 1 free drink. How do people get multiple coupons?

    Thanks so much.

I was on Koningsdam last week. Our embarkation and disembarkation experiences were both very smooth and quick. We had a 12:40 flight. Walked off the ship at 7:45 and was at our gate before 9:00 am.

The ship was definitely full, and it was hard to use the Crow’s Nest; always packed. Music walk was excellent. We had great service and food in the MDR, Pinnacle, and Canaletto. Lido was crazy unless you went early. Dive-In was quick. Deli/Pizza very slow. Overall a great cruise; enjoyed the ports and shore excursions as well as the scenic cruising in Glacier Bay and the inside passage on the last sea day.

Hi Zonk42, We will be on the Alaska sailing on the K in 2 weeks. Haven't cruised out of Vancouver for years.

    - Can you please tell me - for the embarkation - what time were you at the port? I'll try to see if that would give me a  smoohter experience 🙂

    - Do you happen to know if they serve embarkation lunch in one of the MDR on day 1, or is it mainly on Lido?

    Thank you so much !

  3. App is loading quite rapidly. Looks like IT fixed several issues. I am now able to see my Spellbound reservation back. It was previously 'location unknown '. Now it goes back to say Spellbound.

Credit card charge is still pending. Hopefully all is good. How about you all?

Just been reading some of first cruisecritic reviews for Sun Princess and feedback is as expected in most cases.

One point was made about missing venues like a chapel and a library but also an art gallery. No dedicated space on the deck plan and there don't appear to be any art auctions advertised in the patters!

Another interesting nugget was that there are apparently free lobster rolls for lunch at “The Catch by Rudi’” and they are loaded with lobster. I guess they mean these are available at the stations in that area of the Eatery?  Can anyone confirm?

Is this a pay lunch at Catch by Rudi? Pr is this a lunch extension from. The Eatery where people can go there for their buffet lunch? Thx.

  5. We also purchased on Friday. 59day is Sunday. Still pending charge on the credit card. . What concerbs me is my dining reservation. (As of yesterday still showing my reservation with Spellbound on the journey), now just showing reservation at 5pm, shared, but No Location!

Will keep close eyes to see what happens tomorrow. People who already booked let's report whats our strategy?

    thanks!

I don't have a Princess CVP....but have an awesome Travel Agent (which I am unable to name on Cruise Critic).

Met a friend who came through my town on a cruise ship.  We got to talking about my favorite ship.  Got "talked" into at least looking at the next cruise she is going to be on.

Came home and researched cruise.  Texted TA at 7:30 PM on a Friday night. She placed a hold for a specific cabin by 10 PM (same day).  Received booking invoice too.  We are in different time zones.  This was her time zone stamps.  Now, that is service.

Exactly that's service 🙂 . I always return calls and texts, emails immediately to assist. Even on weekends. Guests first. Often, flash promos or great locations don't wait until the office opens. LOL.

There is only one type of wi-fi. You can either purchase a plan that allows one device to be connected at a time or a plan that allows 4 devices to be connected at a time.

that's great. So hopefully streaming is ok

  8. I am new to the Princess cruise, and will be on the Sun Princess in March. Do they serve lunch in the MDR on port days? If not, is the buffet the only place to grab lunch on Port days?

I guess lunch is available in the MDR on Sea Days for sure, is that right?

    Thank you!

Are you able to book the main dining on the Sun Princess? I still can't. Thanks.

No need to stop by Guest Services.  It will be seamless for the most part.  There will a short period, like a couple of minutes maybe not even, where the ship’s door electronic door panels will be reset after the last disembarking passenger is off the ship.  During this time you may be “locked out” of your cabin, but once the reset is done, access is immediate.

    Thank you 👍

It all depends on what Italy and EU immigration wants.  Guest Services will send a letter to your stateroom a few days before turn around days giving instructions.  If immigration in Civitavecchia doesn't require a zero guest count, you will not even be required to disembark and re-embark. Last year, Barcelona started to require a zero count, requiring all transiting passengers to disembark, go through immigration, and re-embark.  Pre-pandemic, Civitavecchia didn't require a zero count.  If a zero count is required, it usually entails all transiting passengers to meet in a lounge at a specific time, going though immigration together, and being brought back on the ship as soon as everyone clears the formalities.

You will have access to you cabin at all times, presuming that you will not change cabins on the second segment.  Speak to your room steward and tell them what your plans are for turnaround day.  They usually prioritize making up transiting passengers rooms because they know that will be on board.  (As a courtesy to my steward, I instruct once a day service in the evening on turnaround days so they can concentrate on making up the other cabins for embarking passengers.)  If you are switching cabins, you should go to Guest Services and have them send a message to the room steward of your new cabin, so you can vacate your old cabin and move to the new cabin ASAP.  They will also activate your Medallion to open your new cabin early.  You'll ever be in a situation where you're cabinless for a period of time.

Thank you for the detail! We are staying in the same cabin. Do we still need to ask Guest Service to re-activate the Medallion to open our room? Thanks!

  12. New to Princess. Will be doing a B2B early next year. The turnaround port is Civitavecchia. Does anyone have experience how the process works?

Specifically too when we are allowed to go back to the ship, do we have to wait with everyone else until the cabins are ready at 2-ish before we can get into our own cabin? We are staying in the same cabin on both cruises.

    Thanks in advance!

  13. Thank you so much @Cruisemom and @CruiseBruce. The ship is scheduled (per itinerary) to arrive at 6 am.

I usually cruise in the USA and 12:50 pm flight with walk off usually is fine as long as ship arrives smoothly, right? 🙂

Just wasn't sure how this works in Europe. Plus heard a lot of chaotic stories on line regarding how long one needs to stand in line for security etc.

Glad to hear that the process is similar to the USA.

    Thanks!
