If you want one of the Cruise Critic Countdown Clocks, sorry but they are no longer available. See my post #8 in the thread titled Editing My Signature here on the Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum. You will need to find another clock for your Cruise Critic signature. Try Google or note the ones used by your fellow Cruise Critic members in their signatures. Go to the site, create the code then copy/paste it into your signature.

Here is the latest thread about signatures:

Do not worry about the amount of lines. They are unlimited now. However, it is greatly appreciated by all if you try to keep your signature as small as possible. It takes a while sometimes for them to show up when the Expand signature feature is used.

Good luck with your new clock! 🍀

I sincerely hope this will be helpful and glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! emo35.gif

    Happy sails,

  2. Has anyone taken the excursion sponsored by Celebrity to this beach and how deep is the water you get dropped off in?  I am fearful of the water being over my head.

  3. I can't speak for MSC cruises emanating from the US as I haven't experienced them. IMHO, it's not formal at all - formal wear is not compulsory on Gala nights - though shorts and wife-beaters are prohibited from the dining room at dinner. The Seaside looks like it's going to be an awesome ship and there's nothing in the current fleet to compare it to, so, until it's launched and reviews become available, it's difficult to say how the onboard vibe is going to be.

For the record, I tried a cruise on Celebrity Millenium and didn't enjoy the onboard experience at all. I enjoy the evening entertainment in the various bars & lounges on MSC ships and which I found sorely lacking on Celebrity. I also find the crew and staff far friendlier on MSC than I did on X.

Well That is why we try a lot of different lines! I really look forward to the MSC Seaside!

  4. I almost always get the premium package on MSC - except when in YC. There are services included with the premium that are already available when in YC such as included mini-bar and room service menu items. It's a great value package when not in YC.

Wow from your cruise list I must say you ae an MSC expert. This is an exciting new ship to see. And a new line for us. We are not married to any one line. We have sailed Carnival, Royal Carribean, Celebrity and have a Princess and MSC booked. I think Carnival is fun and the staff is the friendliest. The Royal Carribean is good, full of families, Did not really like the Quantum though- too many lines and reservations needed. Celebrity is great. adult, less kids. Really nice. Can you describe the atmosphere of the MC line? Is it going to be overly formal? :)

  5. Do we have specifics on which kind of drinks? For example, is it only the drinks they feature in the YC, or is it ALL drinks, including premium brands, not just "call" liquors.
I did not specifically ask that. I suggest that you could call Customer Services and ask but this is all very new and not all staff was aware.

It would be my hope that it would be premium since being Yacht Club Member is a high-class category but that is just my guess.

  6. "Summer" 2017 we are told. Some say from May-June ?
I was on the phone with customer service at MSC. I asked the woman to check with her supervisor and she did. April 2017. Yacht Club Member will get free drinks throughout the ship.
  7. I read somewhere Sept 2017 but I wish I could find that again in print

I was on the phone just now with MSC customer Service. The girl was not sure Asked her supervisor. as of April 2017 Yacht club members get free drinks anywhere on the ship. She laughed because her supervisor said an email went out about it. She said I guess I missed that one!

  9. Ocean Cay, a new cruise port in the Bahamas under development by MSC Cruises, will now open in October 2018, 10 months later than originally scheduled.

The cruise line purchased the 85 acre island in the Bahamas and is in the process of transforming it into the only marine reserve island experience for cruise passengers. The island will also have a dock so there will be no need for tendering.

MSC Cruises said the reason for the new opening date for Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve was to ensure the level of quality and attention to detail that guests have come to expect from the cruise line. Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Cruises, gave the following statement:

“As we sat out to finalize construction plans for this one-of-a-kind destination, we realized that to ensure the level of quality and attention to details in both infrastructure and services that our guests have rightfully come to expect from MSC Cruises, it was only appropriate to allot a longer time frame. In fact, while working on the final project, it was hard not to further enrich this unique beach destination with new and additional unique services for our guests. This naturally called for more time than originally planned.”

Work is officially underway on Ocean Cay with a ground breaking ceremony scheduled to be held on October 6, 2016. In attendance will be the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Right Honourable Perry G. Christie, and other high dignitaries from the country’s government.

    Say it isn't so!

  10. Choice Air will fly you? Choice Air is just the name of the Celebrity Air department and booking tool.

Always bring a carryon with what you cannot live without, meds, electronics, etc.

We did book thru Choice Air. I just got off of the phone with them. I called to ask questions. The woman was very helpful. She said to go to the airport. If your flight is delayed and you think you will miss the embarkment, then go to the counter to try to get booked on a different earlier flight. She said to call the Emergency Travel Team of Choice Air and gave me their#. They will assist and monitor flights. But if all flights are cancelled and you cannot get to Miami, then Choice air will help arrange booking on the first available flight once the airport is up and running again. So they would probably book us on a flight to San Juan on the 25th if we could not get to Miami on the 23rd. We would miss two days of cruising but at least not miss the entire cruise.

  11. It's all a crapshoot. My DD and her BF were flying from Chicago Midway to FLL in January, the day before the cruise sailed. I really wanted them to take a flight earlier in the day but they just could not. As it turned out, all of the earlier flights got cancelled due to snowstorms. Their flight was delayed several hours but still flew. If they'd been on an early flight, they'd be in line trying to rebook. As it was, they just sat around and waited until their plane finally arrived to take them to Ft. Lauderdale.

You just never know until the moment arrives.

Yes, That is my argument. Flying out on Friday may be worse than Saturday???

  12. Check Amtrak or get in the car if you can and drive. This is probably going to be a problem storm for those traveling Fri and Sat, anyone ignoring it is foolish.

Wish I could but driving to Florida is not an option. Not foolish at all but do not have the ability to change my schedule

  13. I think you already have your answer, but if your original flight (not a connection) is cancelled you pick up your luggage usually at the baggage area and recheck it on the new flight or the airline will do it for you.

Again my question would be is there no flight heading south after work? American has flights at close to 11pm. You could also fly to FLL.

I am sure there are Flights on Friday but the storm starts on Friday. Nort sure it would help.

  14. Understand those that are working have problems. My only suggestion is to fly out as far as you can after work. Even if you just get to someplace in Florida you will not miss your cruise.

If your flight is cancelled you usually either pick up your bags and recheck or they will automatically do it for you. And no, the bags do not always arrive at the destination. Did a cruise out of San Juan in a jacket and the clothes on my back plus what I could buy at the first port stop. Crew and other travelers actually loaned us stuff and the ship did laundry free picking up late evening and delivering early am next day at our door.

You are then likely to have time in San Juan and fly to the next port the following day.

Well, It would be interesting. Id we miss the ship in Mismi or never get ot of Phi;;y, We will have to see if flying to San Juan is offered by choice air. Crazy!

  15. If they fly you to the next port when a flight is available? How do they get your luggage to the ship if it was checked onto the cancelled flight?

Blizzard is coming and I am flying on Saturday Morning from Philly to Miami.

  16. Our first cruise departed on a Saturday from Port Everglades. We had a 9:00am flight out of Philly the Friday before. It started snowing as we were taxiing out to the runway.

When we arrived in FLL the airport was an absolute ZOO. No flights were leaving for the Midwest or North East and a lot of people were stuck there with no way out. It turns out we were one of the last flights to leave the North East that day. When the ship sailed Saturday, leaving 2 hours late to try to give people time to arrive, it was still just over half full.

We have been lucky flying down to FLL in the morning of the day before we sail. This next cruise we are flying down Thursday morning (6:45am flight) for a Saturday departure. We want to be double sure we get there, so if whether is an issue we can just get in the car and drive and still make it!

I sure hope for everyone trying to get away this weekend (and for my Son who has to clear the sidewalks and driveway at home!) that the predictions are just typical TV rating bait hype.

Wish we could go on Thursday but MUST WORK! I am flying out of Philly on an 8 AM Flight to Miami on Saturday! I think I will not be on this cruise and I am sick about it!

  17. This happened to us on our last cruise. In short, this is why we planned to fly in a few days early.

But what does the working people do?? I have Trip Insurance and Choice Air but I cannot take Friday off from work!. What happens to the luggage if we get to the airport, check our bags on the flight to Miami and then the flight gets cancelled. Big Deal - Choice Air will fly us to San Juan but how does our luggage get there?

  18. We are booked on Reflection on the 23rd but a blizzard is coming. We fly out of Philadelphia on Saturday morning and if a blizzard hits like predicted. we are trying to figure what to do. We cannot fly on Friday.

We have Choice Air but if we get to the airport and then check our bags, how do they get our bags to the ship if we need to fly to Jan Juan the next day? The bags will be in the plane to Miami! This is a nightmare!

What happens to our luggage?
