  1. Just to follow up. They called this morning with acceptance of option 3.  Full refund and future cruise credit for 100% of paid fare.  I assume we booked a low rate and are residents of Texas.  Win for us,  we are headed to Cozumel for a week instead and will use the credit for a sailing in December. Cheers!

  3. I booked a 9 night Southern Caribbean cruise over Black Friday.  I checked today and it is not showing any longer on the website.  Does this mean it might be chartered ?  I have not gotten any notifications and when I called Celebrity the rep just stated it was sold out.    It is for December 14, 2020 out of FLL.  It just seemed  impossible it would sell out that quickly, up to a year in advance.   Has this happened to anyone before?

  4. We are late 40's.  We love Celebrity but the entertainment is lacking in our opinion .  We only do 9 night plus on Celebrity so the average is is late 50's. We so appreciate the lack of children under 12.  We just went on a Royal cruise and they had to shut the pools down to bathroom accidents and a vomiting episode.

  5. We are in our mid 40's also and sail Celebrity.  We just took a quick Royal C. cruise since we are so close to Galveston.

Oh my what a difference!  We sail In November again on Silhouette out of FLL and will be more than happy to do so!  We sailed last year on Deck 12 on Reflection (Aqua) but were under the Solarium pool and  noise wasn't an issue for us .  We loved the location.  We were literally 6 steps away from Persian Gardens on Port side.   There is an overhang however,  which some might not like.

    Cheers!

Keep In mind what you paid ore cruise for the package. In February it was $62 PPPD on board the ship.

We booked at 30 percent off, so for 7 days it was $47 pp. it is a little higher now at buy one get one half off.   Bombay Sapphire is a preference and Pinot Noir .    We bring our own mixers since we prefer Fever Tree.

If they follow their usual procedure however, there will only be select brands of liquor, beer, and wine available, as they don’t stock the entire range from Texas liquor.  So one gin, one vodka, etc.

i wonder if they’ll give folks the option of getting back off the ship after checking in?

We were also wondering the same thing.  It would be nice to enjoy the beach for the day instead of being on the ship in port.

  8. So I just received this in my email.  What do you think?  Will this effect the Deluxe beverage package at all on the first day.  I know Galveston has strict liquor laws until your in international waters.  Should I be concerned also of a mechanical issue since they need divers for repairs. I know it says routine maintenance , I just thought it was odd that it was scheduled for a full day at port.  Has anyone else had this issue before?

    ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING TRAVELS

    Dear Guest,

We are excited to welcome you onboard Liberty of the Seas for our Western Caribbean adventure! Before you join us, we have a change to our departure time to share with you.

On May 12th, while we’re in Galveston, there will be divers doing routine maintenance work on the ship. They will need the full day to complete the work, so we’ll set sail after midnight. As a result, our shops and casinos will not open on May 12th to comply with local regulations. In the meantime, enjoy a movie on the pool deck, belt out your favorite tunes at karaoke, and dance the night away with our resident DJ. And the good news is, we’ll arrive in Roatan, Honduras right on schedule and you will have plenty of time to do your onboard shopping and place your bets in our casino during the rest of your cruise.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you onboard very soon!

    Sincerely,

    Royal Caribbean International

    Cheers!

  9. I jut got the email regarding a bid process to Royal Up.  I have only cruised with Royal once before , I normally cruise Celebrity.  I always book Aqua on Celebrity for the separate dining venue. I offered a bid for $1400 for a grand suite (7 day-2 people) which it  stated was fair offer . I am wondering if the "perks" are worth this price since they have no speciality dining venue.  Can anyone offer insight to this?  Cheers!  I have a Superior balcony currently.

i need the water package because RCI told me on the phone they can't guarantee where the water bottles come from 😞 at least with the package I'm guaranteed to have the water I want. (I am a water b**ch and have stomach issues)

You can request Pellegrino and Perrier.  I always do specify or they give you the cheapest.  The only time you may have an issue is at the pool bar.

  11. Just curious if I am able to switch cabins in the same category once assigned on a guarantee?  I just called and the agent told me there would be a charge even within the  same category.  I am 30 days out and after final payment.  The price  has went down considerably since I booked however.   Cheers!

  12. We walked out of the cruise port and ventured in town with no guide,  stopped and had a beer with the locals.  We never felt unsafe , most were friendly,  thou we did get some strange looks.  We have always done this in the Caribbean.  However,  I am ex Military and would not recommend for everyone.  Cheers!
