  1. Emerald states that wheelchairs are allowed but not on board. I did read a review and asked the poster about his experience this past Nov/Dec. He stated there were many walkers, canes etc. I cannot find anyone else who can answer this. It is frustrating. I asked ont he disabled travel group and they suggested asking here. Emerald has one thing written, saying different things, then add first hand experience and I am confused. to be honest I just need the chair for distance. It could be stored anywhere as long as it’s taken off the boat. If I have to do it all I will it will just be slow. I just wish I knew exactly what to expect as the unknown ramps up my anxiety. we start in Paris and 3 days later we go to Amsterdam traveling down to Budapest so I think it is the Danube. I can handle steps it just takes me a bit as I have to place each foot on the same step before going to the other. Since the wheelchair can go between being folded flat, used as a manual chair (walker) or an electric chair I am ok with being able to adjust for Inclines etc. I also am not worried about the steps on a tour bus but I am worried as to if the buses will be like those in America where luggage can be stored under the bus. If they are then the wheelchair could be stored there as we are traveling throughout and removed only if needed for Distances. I know it will all work out but spending such a large amount of money on a vacation and not really knowing what of any obstacles someone affected with mobility issues will face. when we booked this tour in 2022 this wasn’t an issue.
  2. We have the Xmas markets in Nov 2025. i have asked these questions in the disabled Crusing and they advised me to ask here. we were supposed to take this cruise in 2023 but had to postpone it. There are times I have to use a walker however lately with distance, uneven roads etc I need to use a wheelchair. I am bringing a travel collapsible electric wheelchair. I will not need the chair on board only during our daily excursions. I have been getting conflicting information. Emerald states that you can use the wheelchair or walker in town but no Scooters. Then we have been told that at times we have to exit the boat by utilizing stairs, walking on the top deck and down the stairs again. We have also been advised that myself and my traveling companion have to be responsible for handling the wheelchair. The contradiction comes with being told staff can/cannot assist. I can’t take the chair on a tour bus as they don’t have the room but walkers can go. My chair takes the same amount of space as a rollator. Has anyone seen anyone use a wheelchair during this cruise? The wheelchair has the option for manual or electric giving me the option of using like a rollator/walker but also electric when distance is too much. I can push it off The boat however I am unsure as to if I could manage it on the stairs. can someone who has been on emerald give me any advice? How did people with walkers handle it. again I don’t need on the boat, just days when there is a lot of walking. Cobblestones are not my friend. The unknown is giving me anxiety.
  3. We are schedule on Emerald Dawn on an 18 day Xmas Market cruise. We fly from the states, have 3 days in Paris then off to 15 days on the boat ending in Budapest. I have used a walker in the past, however I will need to utilize a travel collapsible wheel chair. The chair has both a manual and power option so it can also be used as a walker if necessary. I won’t need the chair on the boat I will primarily need it for walking distances. We have been advised that on river cruises we may dock next to another ship and have to walk Up a flight of stairs, across the top deck, then down a flight of stairs. To say I am nervous is an understatement. Emerald also states that it is my and my travel Companions responsibility to take care of my needs. That isn’t an issue I just am concerned about dragging a 50lb chair up/down stairs. I am also getting conflicting information from a variety of sources as to if staff helps. Emerald has also stated that you can bring the collapsible wheelchair however they say no to scooters. They also have stated that scooters can not be used in the city. Has anyone been on a river cruise and used a wheelchair? Is there a space to store it close to the exit if I ask? Is it ok to use it in town? I need the power wheelchair for the distance in our daily excursions. Also, I have been told that there may not be space on our coach tours for the wheelchair. My chair takes about as much space as a walker so why is it an issue? This issue is causing me anxiety as I do not want to inconvenience anyone or cause stress on my travel companion. if anyone has been on a River cruise and can offer and insight it would be appreciated.
  4. We have a river cruise booked. We were told that they will a collapsible wheelchair but it our responsibility to get it on and off the boat. We were also told that scooters are not allowed in the towns only collapsible wheelchairs. Check with your TA, cruise line, or disability section with the cruise line.
  5. We have a Christmas market river cruise and have been advised by the cruise line that mobility scooters are not allowed for our itinerary. we are going thru Paris, Amsterdam, Germany, Hungary, etc . Look thru the Cruise line questions and answers or the disability section to see if it outlined. If you have a TA reach out to them of contact customer service of the cruise line.
  6. Look at her your guide, viator, and trip advisor. Allow google excursions for wheelchair user in (insert the city).
  7. We are currently waiting for their reply. The day of our return flight is my bday. Our original flight didn’t leave until 11:45. Well they moved us to an 8 pm flight. This requires us to be to the airport by 5 whereas we were expecting 9:45. We were planning on sight seeing upon debarking and then going to a nice dinner. We have requested that they move us to a flight that’s only 1 hr earlier. We also just gave our TA another proposal if the refuse our first. Our serving proposal is for us to Leave the next day giving us one night in Vancouver. We are supposed to have sm answer by Friday.
  8. We have flights booked with FBC for our Hawaii trip this May. To be honest our return flight time was changed twice, then switched to a different airline and departing g time moved up by over 5 hours. We were able to pick our own flights. Each way, along with the airline, etc. The issues we are currently having is with the airline e not Celebrity The airline keeps changing the plane, time, airline, etc. we are in a waiting pattern and should have an answer by Friday regarding our returning flight.
  9. To be honest all vacations be it cruises, land, rail or air have all increased. I have sailed on Princess, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Celebrity. Each cruise line has it owns hits and misses. Since Covid the service industry has suffered and honestly each cruise line has tried to make adjustments. All you can do is pick a cheaper time to travel, downgrade your accommodations, shop different line/itineraries, and wait for sales. There are advantages and disadvantages to each and every line and ship.
  10. We have an opportunity to take a Christmas market river cruise in 2023 and do not know which river would be the best, the Danube or the Rhine. Does anyone have any info on the markets, which river allows us to see the most unique areas with unique items for purchase. any suggestion for which cruise company to use.
