  1. Lol you guys were our inspiration. We’ve been on the road for a year now. We have our second year planned and I know we won’t be stopping there! Still reading your blog when I have internet. It’s funny you guys are in BA right now. We get there 10 days after you leave. Anyway enjoy Africa again. Happy New Year to yourself and Jessica.

  2. Hi Jim, thanks for the info., on disembarkation, etc. When you took the taxi, do the drivers speak English, or do you speak Spanish?

Do they accept us $$'s or Argentinian Peso's? Just trying to get my head wrapped around these things. We are spending a few

days in B.A. also (post cruise). Cruise on Jan. 7. Getting excited, and with your blog, have peaked my hubby's interest. Thanks again

    Hello

As Jim said disembarking was very easy.

We disembarked on Dec. 23rd. our luggage #2 made it early about 7:20 am

Taxis were to the right outside of terminal. There was one guy who handled all taxis.

We showed him the name of our hotel and address in Palermo. He said it would be $35.00 USD. Price due to distance and amount of luggage.

He had us pay in cash USD to another guy. That guy wrote a paper receipt gave us a copy and a copy to the taxi driver. I suppose the taxi drive turns his copy in to get paid for the trip.

During the taxi ride the driver asked to see the hotel address again. He didn't speak any English.

We were checking into the hotel a little after 8:00 am.

The hotel directed us to ATM at different banks nearby, the fee for getting Pesos = about to $10.50 in USD, plus what our own bank fee is.

  5. Hi dartnut

we are planning a Panama cruise 2019 but want to know the difference full transit or partial transit which is better.

We haven't done a partial transit so I am guessing they go through one set of locks then turn around and go back through the same set of locks.

Our first cruise 2013 was the full transit west to east. There were 3 time changes setting clocks ahead one hour less sleep each change. So if you went east to west there would also be 3 time changes but setting clocks back. Getting a extra hour of sleep.

We are looking forward to our upcoming b2b cruise Nov. 2017 we will be doing another transit Fort Lauderdale FL to Santiago Chile.

  6. I have a question. Planning on going to Australia for the first time in December, 2018. Was looking at spending Christmas in Melbourne and New Years Eve in Sydney. Your thoughts since I have never been? Is Sydney too crazy to go there for NYE? Looking to spend 4 to 5 weeks there so any tips would be great! TIA

    Hello

We didn't stay in Melbourne during Christmas or Sydney over New Years.

We stayed in Tasmania Dec.2016, Jan., & Feb. 2017, Which we loved. Over Christmas/New Years from Dec. 3rd to Jan. 16th we stayed in Penguin Tas. It's located on the northwest coast.

The owners (Terry & Fran born & raised in this area.) of the place (Sunrise at Penguin - beach retreat) we rented were Fantastic including and informing us of everything going on in and around this lovely small town.

After a 12 day cruise Sydney to Sydney March 1st to 13th.

We stayed 40 days from March 13th to April 22nd in Fairlight/Manly area of Sydney. When we boarded our 24 day T/P cruise from Sydney to Seattle on April 22nd.

We rented another Fantastic 1 bedroom apartment (it also has several B&B rooms available). A short Manly ferry ride to Sydney.

During our stay we met several of the renters who stayed in the B&B they also raved about their rooms.

The owner (Bob) of the place (Fairlight Gardens, Bed and Breakfast) On our arrival gave us each a Opal card to use during our stay (then return) on all public transportation ferries, trains, buses,. He showed us how to top them up. He has lived in this area since 1974 and is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Both of these places are in great locations with great views, and both the owners are over the top as far as service & being helpful. This was during the rental process and the time we stayed.

We had a great time on our 2017 T/P. I sure your stay in Australia and T/P cruise will be as well.

Where ever you stay the Aussie & Kiwi(NZ) people are fantastic and will make your trip wonderful.
