Yep, that's why I like the omelets. Better shelf life

I gave up ordering omelets anywhere.   It is a rare place that doesn't overcook the eggs.

I agree with both of these opposing comments, but I usually order omelets or other eggs at the MDR because they seem to be a little warmer by the time they reach the table. There's nothing worse than butter not melting on your toast, pancakes or French toast.

This the first time I have been on a Royal ship (excluding the inaugural Wonder cruise) that has handed out champagne when first getting on. We were also given leis.

They used to hand it out in the early days to Crown & Anchor folks. (Any level) but after that it was hit and miss and then gone. Glad to see you get it in Honolulu!!

I am soooo jealous, cruising to NZ and a start by staying at our favorite hotel Hale Koa! I will follow along (completely green the entire time!). I’ve always thought I could not live through the flight to AU/NZ and hope to win the lottery one day to be able to sail there and back somehow from the east coast of the U.S. via a very long route 😂

We love the Hale Koa too but we haven't been there since before they built the second tower.

Sallie and I married in Honolulu in 1989 on Pale.

We did see the Hale Koa when we attended a Luau there on our Hawaii cruise in 2017. We stayed at a Hilton property however due to Hilton points that I had built up before retirement.

Not defending the high beverage prices BUT we're spending LESS today on the actual cruise fare than back in 1996 :-0

That's True!!! Our very first 7-day cruise was an inside cabin for $2600 ...

Ok hubby was making $7.50. Me? $5.25.  My point is of course prices were lower in the 90’s.  Heck my parents rented a 5 room apartment for $45 per month in the 60’s.

I agree with Russ Lomas' point that the drinks have probably gone up higher than wages in general have gone up. 🙂

Concierge is $400 more than a regular veranda on the cruise we are looking at.  For that price, it's definitely not worth it to us.  If it were negligible, that would be different.

I agree. Sometimes pricing is close and even inverted at times.

We have been on 2 Celebrity cruises, one in a standard veranda and one in a concierge veranda because it was about the same price as a regular veranda.

The concierge was helpful in getting our specialty dining reservations booked, left daily voicemails on interesting things around the shop or ports, and other nice touches.

The best thing for me though was being invited to the helipad to watch sail away from one of the ports.  That was awesome but I don't know if they do it on all cruises or if that was unique to that ship/sailing.

The other nice perk for concierge is the embarkation day lunch in the MDR. Very relaxing away from the crowds.

  8. Comment on Concierge value: I think the price difference is a major factor to consider. While it may not seem like you get a lot more in Concierge, the pricing can be very close depending on the cruise. We only cruised concierge once, but it was because (probably due to the automated algorithm of the website) the Concierge was less expensive than a Veranda. It always pays to check the price of Concierge even when looking at Verandas. We see them close to the same price many times when doing mock bookings.
