  1. We stayed at the Days Inn Cocoa Beach. It wasn't fancy, but we got in late & it was just fine. The staff was super nice. There's fast food nearby. The "free breakfast" was adequate and we walked to the beach and played before we left for the ship. The kids loved it. I'm sure they have a pool, but we used the ocean as our pool.

We had a car, and just dropped it off at the Avis lot right on A1A between the hotel and the port. Super easy! There's a gas station right there where we got gas and drinks and went on our way. Then there's an Avis shuttle to the port.

Here's the best news- I just looked at my receipt. It was $75 out the door for 4 of us.

  2. UPDATE: For anyone who is curious.... I booked Comfort Suites on Federal Hwy for it's free airport transportation and because it is next door to a CVS (so we can purchase our beverages beforehand). Also, It's a ChoicePrivileges hotel and I have membership with them, so I saved nearly $50 in booking. Then I booked QLS for transportation from htl to POM and return trip from POM to FLL when we return.

Thank you all so very much for your help! I would have spent lots of money unnecessarily otherwise!

Just curious how everything went in the end. Were you happy with Comfort Suites? How bout QLS?

Hope you had a great trip!

  3. Thank you for the review. I just booked on the Majesty for a 25th Anniversary cruise in Sept. Our very first cruise was aboard the Monarch. We loved it and look forward to sailing on her sister, Majesty.

Our most recent cruise was aboard Freedom. We loved that as well, but the size is a bit overwhelming at times. I think any ship is what you make it. I will be sailing with my best friend, AKA my husband, so I'm thrilled. I know it will be a wonderful cruise!

  4. We just rented a car from Avis at the Orlando Airport and drove to Cocoa Beach. The Avis lot is 5 minutes from the port, so we returned the car and the shuttle took us to the port.

When we returned, the shuttle picked us up from the port and took us back to pick up our (different) car.

There were 4 of us, so it was much more cost effective to rent the car and then we had the freedom to stop where we wanted to.

PS: We're from the West, so aren't used to toll roads. Be aware, and have singles on hand.

    Have a great cruise!

  5. Hi,

I had the same question, so I called them.

Spoke with some one named Martha, was told if 'you' are going on a cruise or being picked up from a cruise use the CC5 ( that gives them some idea how many shuttles might be needed) , if 'you' are a 'local' rental not needing the shuttle service use ZC5.

I do not know if there is a difference in the rental rate ....... I am going to try both .

    Wes-

You rock! I knew my CC people would come through! Well done. Thank you for the info!

  6. Hello my fellow Arizonian-

Thank you for your FANTASTIC review! We will be sailing on FOS (Western) in a month. Can hardly wait!

Just a Cozumel question. Can you walk into the center of town? We want to do a little shopping so the kids can buy some cheap souvenirs. I'm guessing Cozumel is the place to do that. We don't have an excursion planned there, just want to do some sight-seeing. Can that be done via my 2 feet, or would it be prudent to get a cab?

    Thanks again!

PS: Since I will be traveling with teenagers- thanks for the heads up about the chickens. I guess that's why they call it the "birds and the bees." ;)

  7. That's funny, we are doing the exact thing in a few weeks. Costco was about $20 less for the first leg of the trip, but the Budget deal blew them out of the water on the return trip.

I'm glad it helped you out and I'm delighted that the code is still working all these months later :).

    Gina

Hey Gina- For the first leg, did you reserve through Costco.com or through Budget's website? If the latter, what BCD (offer code) and Coupon code did you use?

  8. We're sailing in Sept/Oct. Interestingly enough, the Costco option is a buck cheaper to pick up at MCO and drop off at Port Canaveral, but on the return the Y code saved me a bunch (almost half) for pick up at Port Canaveral and drop off at MCO. I had no idea that it could vary so much.

    Well done! Thanks for sharing!
