  1. We were on the Panorama a couple weeks ago and tried the new Chef's Table.  Although my husband and I enjoyed it, I wouldn't do it again for $150.  We have done it several times in the past and the food choices were very similar, and several of the courses were the same as the last time we did one.  I really didn't see any differences in the food.

They still just offered a sparkling wine when you sat down and then one red and one white wine.  The wine they offered was definitely better than the other times we did it (The white was a Decoy, and I'm sorry, I forget what the red was, but it was a good wine.)

I wanted to try it because I was hoping they would do a wine pairing with each choice, which I thought would make it worth it.  I had recently done a Chef's Table on Royal Caribbean, and they did a different wine pairing for each course (I think we had at least 8 different wines) and it was very enjoyable.  I also can't remember the price, but it was less than $150!

The service, presentation and food were all excellent, but for that price, it should include wine pairings.

  2. Hello,

I was wondering for anyone who has recently been on the Panorama with the itinerary of 2 sea days, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Cabo, sea day, whether they changed they ship time at all between Long Beach and Puerto Vallarta?

I'm trying to figure out plans in Puerto Vallarta and just wanting to know the timing, whether we'll match Puerto Vallarta time, be one hour behind or two hours behind.

    Thanks for any help!

  3. After I asked this question, I googled it and found an older cruise critic post on this from February this year.  The cruise we are going on stops in Puerto Vallarta first, then Mazatlan, then Cabo.  In the earlier post, they said that on Sunday night, you turn your clocks ahead one hour, which still puts you an hour behind Puerto Vallarta time, but then you are on the correct time in Mazatlan and Cabo, and then after leaving Cabo, you switch back to Long Beach time.  So you only change the time once, and you're one hour behind in Puerto Vallarta instead on two.

I'm hoping that is still the case, so I can make my Puerto Vallarta plans with that.

    Thank you for everyone's replies!

  4. In the past, I would usually arrive as early as possible to check in and enjoy the ship and my husband would arrive later in the day to check in because he's a teacher and didn't want to miss school on departure day.  We have an upcoming cruise on February 10 on the Miracle out of Long Beach and it says on the paperwork that everyone in the cabin has to check in at the same time.  Just wondering if that is a new guideline, or if it's still possible to check in at different times?  I have already reserved check in from 11:00-11:30.

    Thank you!

  5. Seadog,

Thank you so much for doing a live review.  We are going to be doing this cruise June 1.  I really enjoyed following Mking's review and was sad it was done, so I'm so excited that you are going to be doing another one!  Really great to follow and get excited for our trip.  I look forward to any pictures and information from your trip.  Your pictures so far are beautiful!  Very much appreciate you taking the time to do this.

    Have a great trip!!

  6. Hi! Glad you are having a wonderful cruise. Was the weather nice in the Mexican Ports?

Thank you for trying to post things for us. Hope you didn't spend too much of your vacation time on your efforts.

I know you would make me (and a lot of other people) extremely happy if you could post the fun times and menus after you return home. I would really, really appreciate it! :)

    Thanks,

    Cheryl

  7. Sorry, I know this has probably been asked before, but wondering if someone who has had experience with this could provide a quick answer.

We are going on a Mexican Riviera cruise. We have priority tendering, but my son and his wife who are traveling with us do not. Will they be able to get on the tender with us, or will they have to go get their own tender ticket and wait for their number to be called?

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Thank you so much for doing this review. I am really enjoying it so far. We get on the ship in 5 days, so it's making me that much more excited!

I'm curious about your thoughts on Kona now. The only excursion we have booked through the ship is the beach excursion in Kona. I did that to have an easy, relaxing beach day since our other days are so full and to not have to worry about picking up tender tickets. Any information you can give on that would be very helpful.

Thanks again for taking the time to do such a great review and congratulations on your new little one :)

  9. Hi! The $67 price includes the transportation, zip lining and visiting the animal house (which is small). There is an area to swim in that my older kids enjoyed. Yes, the canopy tour is the actual zip lining. The restaurant and bar are extra, but we enjoyed the restaurant. They had a free tequila tasting which actually gave you a variety of tequilas to try.

We had to take a taxi from the port to the pick-up location. The location we met at was the Collage-Marina. It was a very short taxi ride (I think about a mile?) I believe when we were there we got to port earlier, so I don't know if that will make a difference. Also, the ship time was different than the local time, so we adjusted for that. After the tour, they dropped us off back at the port so we didn't need another taxi to get back.

The zip lining was very fun. My sister-in-law was VERY scared to do the zip lining, but wanted to do it with her boys. After about the second or third line, she had a blast! There are a couple that are pretty long! Also, there is a bit of walking/climbing in between some of the lines. Some of the climbs were pretty steep and a bit challenging for me in the heat, but the other people in our party didn't have any trouble. They also had some water available on the course.

Whatever you decide to do, have a wonderful trip!

  10. 2x now I have self-booked the "Canopy Tour" with Los Veranos in Puerto Vallarta. Both times were incredible! Los Veranos is owned and operated by a guy who was on the US Olympic ski team (many years ago) and designed the lines to be reminiscent of the ski runs he used to do while in training.

The first time, in 2009, was a celebration of our best friend's 70th birthday! You read that right. The guys (guides) carried her equipment and did not falter in making the day the most fun we'd had in the 40 years we'd all known one another! After the nearly 5 hours with Los Veranos we had them drop us off by Our Lady of Guadalupe church and after paying respects we walked across the street to the malecon (boardwalk) and ate lunch. Took a cab back to the ship. As we got in the elevator, a young 30-something came in and were grousing at the "chintzy" Canopy Adventure they'd gone on - booked through Carnival. They described theirs and we described ours. Night and day. They were crazy with envy over what we'd done (more than a dozen zips, with one being over 1/4 mile long) - theirs was more than $100p/p ours under $75p/p -

The 2nd time, in 2011, I was with my then 23-year old D & her friend - we went because even though she'd seen the photos, watched the videos and heard our stories, she simply had to see the place for herself. Again, the day was top notch, and did not disappoint. For the remainder of that cruise others were simply in awe of our Canopy Tour VS their Carnival booked "Canopy Adventure" -

Your 8 year old will love it! You can find Los Veranos Canopy Tours online - they offer a discount if you prepay.

I concur 100 percent! We did the Los Veranos Canopy tour this last summer, and it was excellent! The guides were great and we all felt very safe!
