My Cunard for our August/September QM2 voyage also shows the second seating option as "Dine any time from 7.45pm, with last orders at 9.00pm. Reservations can be made daily on board."

However @lissie has reported her October cruise on QE is showing an 8pm fixed dining time for second seating.

Perhaps we can try to narrow down a date for a possible switch back to fixed second seating time for each ship, if that is indeed going to happen.

If you are on a voyage departing September 2022 or later, please post which ship you are on, your departure date, and what My Cunard is showing for your second seating option. That information can be found under "Booking Summary", "Your Dining Choice".

Of course there's no guarantee what My Cunard shows is gospel, but it might give us an indication of what Cunard is planning.

    Hi All,

My October 25th TA on the QM2 does not show my choice even though I have chosen second seating. Maybe they are rethinking options…

  2. Good Afternoon,

One of my favorite parts of a Cunard voyage is the late dinner seating. I have plenty of time to have a productive day, on the ship or in port and then get ready at a leisurely pace. Of course a cocktail in the Commodore Club or the Chart Room precedes dinner.
After winding my way to the Britannia Dining Room I am then greeted by the waitstaff and other diners who I’ve gotten to know by dining at the same table.
I don’t have to constantly repeat that I like extra vegetables or I don’t want any bread as the waiter already knows my preferences from previous meals.

My wine is waiting for me as the Sommelier has placed the bottle that was opened the night before on the table.

I too am a solo traveler and greatly value the time I get to spend at dinner with people that I’ve gotten to know. Many nights my table has been one of the last ones to leave. We are all actually interested in how we’ve spent our days.

This is part of the Cunard appeal that got me hooked in the first place. I would hate to see it disappear. Six pm dinner for me just doesn’t work. Cunard needs to rethink their dining options and return to early and late fixed seating.

I do have 2 future trips planned, one in August on the Queen Elizabeth and one in October on my favorite ship, the QM2. I do hope things are back to the old Cunard way by then.

    Thanks for listening… April

I carry it to guard against breakage. I have a canvas carrier for six bottles and if more I have a sort of wheeled tote that accomodates ten wine bottles plus some small plastic bottles of Coca-Cola.

Thanks for the info. I usually carry on 4 but was hoping to check it thru if I had more. Looks like I will have a few to carry. Better safe than broken!!

No hassle boarding in New York. I regularly carry on about 10 bottles of wine & champagne at embarkation, plus some harder stuff.

I bring wine because what I bring on is highly rated (equal to the ship's best) and I can research it ahead of my purchase, which is difficult to do at the dinner table.

Good Morning,  Do you carry it on yourself or do you give it to the porters and find it safely awaiting you in your cabin?

  5. My first voyage on Cunard was a segment of the World Cruise on the QV 5 years ago.  I loved the Chart Room and the Champagne Bar. Unfortunately the way I remember them seems to be a thing of the past.

The QM2 is my go to ship now. It still has the great music venues and never disappoints!

  6. Just returned from a 31 day segment of the world cruise on the QM2 - New York to Santiago. Two weeks after getting off the ship my travel companion experienced a retinal detachment which needed immediate surgery. Has anyone had anything similar happen on a ship? How was it handled? As a frequent cruiser it is important to be prepared for all emergencies. Thank you for all your information...

  7. Hello from Paris

There are four levels I the dining room. The main level. Here I prefer a table for 6 next to a window in a corner where you are not surrounded by tables. Table 118 and 165 come to mind but there are others. Just look around.

The next level up overlooks the Main level so no view to the ocean if that is important to you.

The third level really has no view at all. Not recommended by me

The uppermost level is gReat because you hAve tons of windows. I prefer table 222, a round table for 8 right next to a window but there are other similar tables as well on this level. I like this level also because it is much quieter than main level and less stuffy because there aren't as many people. P

I hope this helps. When you get on the ship take a look around and good luck. I hope you are one day at my table. Take care.

    deck Chair.
