  1. Perhaps this was answered already and I am just understanding...on Summit I see that 3116 and 3118 are connecting. Do they connect like typical hotel rooms with a door inside the cabin or is there an outside door that closes over the front of both front doors? If it is the front door option does that door stay closed the entire time if you ask? We are traveling with friends and would love it that is how it was so we could walk back and forth in jammies and such and not worry about being in the hall....

I was in 3118 on the Summit before. It would be like the typical hotel room w/ the door inside the cabin. Outside your door is the hallway but still to all the other cabins. I didn't really notice the connecting door or the any additional noise.

  2. They have actually changed the dress code in the last year so no more formal nights but Elegant Chic. You will now find a wide variety of dress on those nights from tuxes to designer jeans. Long pants are required in the MDR every night. However I would say if after dinner he wants to change into shorts again, that would be fine.

  3. I was on deck 3 in March '15 and loved the location. I was more midship in the newer Oceanview rooms by the Conference Center. It was nice since when you came back from being in Port you didn't have to wait for the elevator as it was a quick 2 flights up to your room. Same for going to the Martini Bar, Cafe el Bacio, MDR, Rendezous Lounge.

If I was to do an oceanview again I wouldn't hesitate to pick a room on deck 3 (especially if I could get the newer ones w/ the bigger window)

  4. Hi Again,

I was searching around and found this one. We like the ports of call, but need help with the special offers.

We don't drink a lot, a glass of wine or a cocktail maybe once a day.

The Celebrity Equinox is the ship.

Thanks again for your opinion on this cruise and which of the 2 options makes more sense and will save me some money.

    We want a balcony.

$$$ Book select inside categories and receive a FREE $75 per cabin onboard credit.

Book select oceanview and balcony categories, and receive the $75 onboard credit listed above plus choose TWO of the following offers:

    1. An additional $300 per cabin onboard credit (for a total per cabin onboard credit of $375), or

    2. FREE pre-paid gratuities for two, or

    3. A FREE Classic Beverage Package for two, which includes select alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages onboard, or

    4. Unlimited Internet access.

I would pick 1 & 3 (and have done so on my cruises). The Classic beverage package covers more than just alcohol. You'll be able to get pop, specialty coffee, bottled water, smoothies, frozen drinks alcoholic or non. The nice thing is the pop comes in cans so if leaving on an excursion you are able to take them off this ship with you, same with the water. While I do partake in wine and drinks in the evening I make the most of the included package with water throughout the day.

  5. Based on real experience, do Southwest provide hotel and meal vouchers? Will they reimburse me for the hotel that i booked on FLL in the event i was a no-show due to their hiccups? We're flying 2 days early so i think we're on the safe side, if anything i just want to get to know WN better. Thanks

If the delay or missed flight is due to weather, no they don't give any compensation. If it is something that is in their control, plane breaking or something they should. My experience it was always weather even though no other airlines had trouble due to the same weather.

Don't over think it now that you've made your decision. You should be fine w/ 2 days and time of year you are in. Best bet if you are still concerned, get travel insurance to help cover costs if something does happen.

  6. Buffalo to FLL 5:30 am non-stop and we're flying 1 day before the cruise on the last week of October, from Toronto btw, never flown from any US airport before but took my chances because the fare and flight times are hard to ignore.. Plus the glamorous reviews of SW prior to this fiasco.

I would think you'd be fine at the end of Oct especially w/ direct flights. Early enough that no major snowstorms may cause an issue and hurricanes/tropical storms are pretty much done by then. Also w/ a direct flight even if delayed for weather they may still go since the plane probably needs to end up in FLL for other flights. For that I'd just stick w/ them.

  7. There's a lot of SW flights going out to my destination at that day, mine btw is scheduled at the earliest (5:30 am), I've experienced delays before but not as ridiculous as the one that you mentioned and other instances I saw on TV (Southwest Outage) recently. I'm contemplating right now if I should just cancel(SW)and save the funds for future travel where there's no cruise involved, and just absorb the exorbitant price that my local airline is offering. Thanks for sharing:)

When are you going? During the winter where storms may cause problems then maybe change. But if there are many other flights going to your destination and you are the first flight out and it's direct you have a better chance. Do you have a cushion or are you flying in the day of the cruise?

I used them last year and had no issues. This year was just a fiasco for some reason and since there are limited flights to my end destination I decided not to take the chance and price on Delta (even for Delta Comfort) was about the same as Southwest I decided to go w/ them for more protection.

  8. How do SouthWest handle flight cancellation/delays? Do they simply put you on the next available ?It's our first time on SW on a direct flight, touching down 1 day before our cruise, i've read their policy online but i'm more inclined on learning from cruisers with firsthand experiences. Thanks in advance.

I had this issue in March of this year. Southwest cancelled my flight out on Thursday about 10pm on Wednesday w/ only an e-mail notification. Good thing I checked my e-mail before bed since my flight was at 5:30 am. Their only solution was to try to get me on a flight Friday morning. Since I was meeting my 22 y/o nice in San Juan on Thursday that wasn't an option. I had to rebook on Delta to get down there.

Then on the return flight when I went to check in at the airport they had cancelled my flight. Said they could possibly get me on a rescheduled flight at 8pm to Orlando then back to my final destination the following day. Others were told they couldn't get a new flight until Tuesday. And since they said it was weather they weren't giving any type of compensation for hotels or anything. Again, rebooked on Delta to get home that day.

Not taking a chance this December so flying Delta the entire way.

  9. We got the classic package as a perk for our March 5 cruise. We will need to upgrade. lol. I like to have everything taken care of before we board.

My question is how can I upgrade to premium before the cruise. We use a TA. Will she have to do it or can I just call and take care of it.

My next question is. Is there any chance of a sale on the packages again. I was able to catch a sale twice now. Our second leg in March is a "repo" cruise so no perks. I'm kind of hoping I can catch another sale. LOL. It was about this time of year in 2015 when I caught one for our British Isles cruise.

    Carol

I upgraded prior to my first cruise by calling myself since my TA didn't want to do it & said I could do it once I boarded. Since I wanted everything done prio & called & had no issues I

  10. As far as I recall, Carambola Beach Club is on St. Croix. If you live an alternate life style, there is a club not far from the pier on St. Croix.

    NP

There are 2 of them one in St. Croix and there is one in St. Kitts. I've been to the one in St. Kitts twice in the last 2 years it's a nice upscale beach club. You can reserve chairs for $10 a piece as well as an umbrella for $10 if you choose.

  11. Living in the North and going in November I would probably give yourself a day or 2 extra arriving in San Juan just in case weather is a factor. I know this year Southwest cancelled my flight into San Juan (and also out of San Juan post cruise) with just hours of notification and couldn't rebook me until the next day. If I was flying in the day of that would have been a big deal. Luckily I was able to rebook on Delta and get in the original day but paid for it.

For Excursions I would recommend Levi Barron from Bumpiing Tours for Dominica. We used him in March and had an amazing time. You said you like beach days so St. Kitts you can try to get a reservation at Carambola Beach club for a nice relaxing day in the sun and sand. St. Croix if you like snorkeling I would recommend Big Beards tour to Buck Island either the full day or half day is a great trip.

Other than that I love the Summit and am going to be on it for the 3rd time in December. Enjoy your cruise.

  12. I'm in my early 40's and have cruised Celebrity and loved it. Have done both the S class and the M class ships. This year I took my 2 nieces (22 and 18) and they had a wonderful time as well. While some of the passengers may be slightly older they seemed to be young at heart. We ended up in Revelations to dance every night and you had everyone young and old dancing. While the girls were in the minority due to their age there were some close to their age so they didn't feel out of place but that could depend on when you sail. We sailed over Easter break this year.

  13. e-mail is special_needs@celebrity.com I sent them an e-mail regarding my nieces gluten free and dairy free needs. They responded within a couple of days indicating they made a note on the reservation and to just double check once we got on board. They did indeed do that once we boarded and she has a wonderful trip and was amazed at the service and attention she received and the choices she had for gluten free as she is not use to that normally when she eats out.

  14. On an M Class ship it's possible that it is worth the value due to the fact that the cabins are slightly larger. On an S Class ship where the rooms are the same size I don't see the value unless the only cabins in the location you want are Concierge, then only you can make the decision if the additional price is worth the location. The sparkling wine and afternoon savories aren't worth it in my opinion.
