Curious...did you have time to go back and get it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Forums mobile app
Hi Teresa,
Yes, actually my husband went back for it, while I got in line and checked myself and the three bags in. I'm an obsessive compulsive type and always arrive at the airport a full two hours or more early, so there was enough time, but just barely. That taxi driver must have broken every speeding limit along that route. Hubby tipped him BIG; the fellow definitely earned it. Also the airline representative who checked me in was really helpful, too, in that she told me to just bring my husband and that last suitcase directly up to the counter when he arrived. Skip the line. She slapped that luggage tag on the bag, glanced at hubby's passport, and sent us straight through to the security line. Got to the gate just as they were boarding.

I have a huge list, and I pack EVERYTHING, filling a full FOUR suitcases for a one week cruise. Unfortunately I rely on my hubby to carry all the bags out to the taxi. That's where I went wrong. Should have watched every bag go out. Instead I was in the bathroom when hubby said: "Hurry up, the taxi's here, all the bags are in the trunk". So I just ran out the door, and off we went. 30 minutes later, we arrive at the airport, and the nice taxi driver unloads the bags. All THREE of them. The biggest suitcase, the one with almost all the clothing, was still sitting on the bed in the spare room, at home.. It doesn't matter what's on the list, if you leave the entire suitcase behind.

Take some bubble wrap for packaging for the trip home. We got two of them on our Mariner cruise a few years back. Only one survived the trip home. I still have it on the book shelf in my family room, right next to our cruise photo.

I agree with Gangway Style and Will773 about the mid ship cabins. We just got back from the Allure a week ago and I just posted this on our roll call page:
"Our cabin 7610 was arranged with the bed by the door. Our son and daughter in law's cabin next door 7612 was arranged with the bed by the balcony. Their arrangement was much, much better. It gave their room a much more open comfortable, bigger feel. It was also so much easier for them to move around in the cabin, easier to access the closet. In our cabin there was a very narrow little space between the bed and the closet, so that hubby and I had to take turns, getting to it, and also going back and forth around the bed. It was also easier for them to bring a room service tray into the room, where as in ours, I had to squeeze against the wall, walking around the bed, to get to a place to set the tray down. So its definitely worth researching what the room arrangements are when choosing a cabin on this ship.
By the way, the location was very quiet. And the life boats, being two decks down, are also recessed about half way, so they are not much in your view when you look down at the water. (This had been a concern of mine.) By the way, I was pleased with the size of the balcony also, having been on some skinny ones in the past.
And oh, yah, I totally agree with you about trying to search out a room on that ship. Most mixed up assignment of cabin categories I've ever seen.

I agree with cb at Sea. The most important thing to remember is to make that payment.
Perhaps that IS the advantage to making the payment early; it ensures you don't forget. ..
For example, we just sailed the Allure from Nov 10 to 17. With all the excitement and preparations for that cruise, I totally forgot to make the final payment on our next cruise. I didn't want to pay way early, but I got so busy that I forgot to do it before we left to the Allure... Unfortunately the due date for the next one fell on the day we came home from the Allure. If I hadn't found time to check my e-mails late that evening, I would likely have missed the day entirely, as my next few days were jammed packed with things to do. I might never have seen the reminders that came from our TA, while we were out of town, until it was too late.
It's hard to think that you might ever forget, but it can happen.

That's disappointing. Charging for this kind of thing is what is making Carnival look better by comparison.
I'm still hoping someone can offer info on price?
-
I read somewhere that they charge to use the Sauna and steam rooms on the Allure. Can anyone verify it that is true? And if so, how much do they charge?
-
Is the Glow party the same as the White Party? What did they do there?
-
This seemed to be a big thing as we would otherwise have to pay for this (Yes in the MDR menu you would have lobster everynight if you wanted to pay for it).
How much extra would you have to pay for the lobster on the other nights?

Hello Andy, I totally loved this review. Thank you so much for sharing your cruise like this. We'll be on the Allure in just two weeks. I haven't been this excited about a cruise in years. In recent years, I haven't gotten that butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling until I laid eyes on the ship. But I'm there already, thanks to your review. It was great.

What restrictions was he talking about in that post. I couldn't figure how to get to the rest of the thread.

I saw the Behind the Fun tour mentioned in another post below. So I'm wondering what is the Behind the Fun tour? Sounds like you get to see the workings of the ship ? Do you get to see the bridge? And how much does it cost? And do all the ships do it?

Hello FLSNIU2014, I'm an RN too, but at the other end of the career spectrum, having retired last year. I agree; I've always thought working on a cruise ship really would be amazing. Unfortunately I married young and had kids early so that career path was out of the question. I think you are smart to pursue this now. If you wait to live your dreams, life tends to get in the way.
As for info, your best bet would be to contact the cruise lines directly and ask what potential there is for a nurse, and what degree, license, experience you would need. I did a quick google for "cruise ship jobs" and found these addresses, among others. It worth checking out.....Good luck.

If you want to do an actual tour, call that Destination Tampa place ahead of time to get current information and make reservations. We are scheduled to sail the Legend in February. There are NO cruise line tours offered for after our cruise. So (about a month ago) I called Carnival and asked if they'd be posted later, or possibly on the ship. Answer was no. They referred me to the Destination Tampa site as an option.
I called Destination Tampa and found out from them, that they actually ARE the same company that used to provide tours for Carnival in Tampa (and are located right in/agacent to the terminal). She also said that they discontinued or were just about to discontinue the tours, due to financial issues. But they were willing to arrange a personal tour for individual groups, priced according to what we'd want to see. The price was huge and the sights available to see, sounded boring.
Yes they do sell discounted tickets to the Aquarium, Busch Gardens, and a few other places, if you have more time.
Yes, they also watch bags for a fee , but only until four o'clock pm.
Passport/Cruise documents
in Carnival Cruise Lines

We had exactly same experience taking our son and Daughter-in-law. Originally booked with her married name, but had to change it to her maiden name when we realized her passport was still in her maiden name. The cruise line and our TA both insisted all docs must match exactly.
[To make our situation more confusing, I'd already bought her air fare using her married name, so she carried her driver's license for boarding the plane, then used her passport for boarding the ship. (I was sure glad we were only flying to FLL and not out of country.)]
