  1. I have to say, I find the piano a waste of space.  For our family, not a feature we would utilize, especially in this day of the “ipod/phone”.  I remember seeing a suite that had a fireplace instead, that would be my preference, especially in a “cold” itinerary, such as Alaska.   Each time we have stayed in the PH, we played the piano once or maybe twice and then switched to our own playlist.  Now, if we could get an ensemble to play our piano and have a singalong, maybe...

  2. I am so sorry, and this is horrible.  There is no reason you should not receive your deposit back.  I would continue to fight for this.  I am a loyal celebrity cruiser, but this for sure would make me consider to jump ship.  Since we always book our cruises over a year out, I have come to the realization that our cruises May get chartered.  I would hate it, but would know it was a risk.  Having said that, would not accept losing out money because of celebrity’s decision to charter it.  I hate that this is even an issue. So sorry

  3. We haven’t actually booked or reserved the spots for February 2021. This is just the information I received from my celebrity planner.  We will be in the reflection suite, so we will get the two spots we want, I wouldn’t feel comfortable reserving anymore than that. Our kids will already be in our room, so we would have had to pay for my nephew and his boyfriend to join us for dinner anyways.

  4. Just now, wrk2cruise said:

Is there a limit on the number of slots offered to each suite?  If PH #1 wants all 16 slots can they take them?

Apparently if the top suite wants all 16, they have first dibs on them.  Again, this is a new program, not sure how it will end up.  I know in the past when we were travelling in the PH but family members were in other staterooms from ocean to sky suite (prior to them having access) the michaels club always welcomed our family members in michaels club, whether they were with us or not.

  5. We are booked in a suite on the reflection for Feb 2021.  My nephew booked a balcony with his partner,  we were informed that we could pay for his suite perks at $59 pp per day.  Basically access to luminae to join us for dinner and michaels club.  None of the other perks associated with our suite are given.  Ie: They would need to have the drink package to access “free” drinks anywhere besides michaels club.  Apparently there are 16 allotted spots for the suite perks available each sailing.  These are offered from the top suite down, until all are taken.  We are to reserve our “spots” with the shoreside concierge prior to our cruise.

  6. Love this initiative!  Love the hash tag as well! My husband has started a similar initiative in Toronto, not the same field, but Orthopaedics has the worst gender diversity in all of medicine, and as chair in Toronto wants to change this.  He has started “women in orthopaedics” an annual dinner/workshop geared towards female medical students to introduce them to orthopaedics and potential female mentors.  Despite the fact that women comprise of over 50% of the medical school class, only 5% of orthopaedics surgeons are women.

  7. We ended up switching our cruise from the 5th to the 15th.  It’s a better itinerary for us, we have never been to Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica, not to mention at least one of the weeks will fall on our sons spring break and since he will be doing his thesis, he may be able to take the extra week off from school.  I won’t be able to celebrate my 50th on board, since it’s on the 8th but I hear once you turn 50, you get the entire year to celebrate! Waiting for the roll call to show up so we can start counting down together.

  8. We were on the Jan 20th sailing and definitely had the sewage smell. I don’t recall smelling it in public areas like restaurants or bars but we did smell it on various occasions in the hallways and our stateroom.  We were forward, 11th deck, so quite a ways from the martini bar.  Not sure if the smell dissipated or we just got used to it, but it was most definitely apparent.

  9. That was the case on our last cruise, assuming it remains the same now. We always upgrade our packages, I prefer to pay in advance and not risk having a large bar bill at the end of our cruise, especially when paying for 6 people. This way, I can just have whatever I feel like. Drinks that are priced above the premium drink packages max are just charged the difference and not the full price. Hope this helps.

  10. Helen, she will not be allowed to officially drink on the ship. She would be allowed in Vancouver or any Canadian port (if you go to the Yukon on one of the excursions). Maybe a couple of days in Vancouver so she can have her "cousin" time. For our children's 18th birthdays we allowed the kids to pick their cruise. Our daughter chose Alaska, our son on the other hand chose Europe - all because of the drinking policy. Lol

  11. We will be cruising in February with two 21 year olds and two 19 years (who would be legal in Canada but not on the cruise) they are sharing a room. I am not sure how strict they will be on this cruise, one year when they were 16 and 18 and they were both served champagne in michaels club, so not sure how it will be on this cruise. We are of the mind set that our children are responsible enough to have cocktails at home, this doesn't change because of a border. We will always respect the laws on the ship in public places, I would not want any employees to suffer the consequences, but I will be more lenient in our suite and theirs. We will stock their fridge with beverages that they enjoy and we always have wine or champagne in our room. I wish we could sign a waiver, but I understand why we can't. Every island we are visiting has a drinking age of 16-18, so I am sure they will be bar hopping, with their parents, grand parents, aunts and uncles leading the way!

  12. Our OBC has also changed. We booked during a promotion giving us an extra $200 OBC for a total of $500. The additional $200 is no longer showing on our account. We booked directly with celebrity, so I have sent an email to our rep, but haven't heard back yet. I do have all our initial bookings and communication for back up. The kids reservations are fine, and were booked at the same time, so I am thinking it's a website / technical issue

  13. A current thread (Summit to Bermuda) has a refererence to suite passengers having a separate line to access Customs.

    1) Is this true?

    2) Since when does the US Government provide separate access to its services based on paying more money than someone else? A particular concern since this a national security related preference

    3) Celebrity - if this is true, Celebrity speak up and identify how you arranged this with the Government

This is offensive to say the least.

Why does this offend you? The same thing happens at airports, flying first class allows you to bypass the lines, but in no way are you bypassing security or immigration. My husband travels with many electronic items, although we bypass the lines, we are very much scrutinized and experience the exact same security as those that waited a little longer. Our preference to travel in suites in no way would alter how immigration or security views our passports! In only one instance can I remember being ushered through immigration with barely a glance at our passports, in Barcelona someone was having a heart attack on the other side of immigration and my husband went to assist. Immigration and security really have no interest in how much we paid for our flights or cruise

  14. Personally, I wouldn't stress if your luggage doesn't arrive, you have no choice! I tend to pack one "dinner" outfit in each of our suitcases (4 of them) for each of us, this way if one doesn't make it, the others will have something. I started doing this after our daughters suitcase was lost by the plane prior to a cruise and all we had time for was to shop at senior frogs for her wardrobe, luckily she was only 11 at the time.

  15. I hope the wait list is not a myth. Currently on a wait list for the stateroom between ours and the kids. An uncle and aunt are on the other side of the kids and I am hoping to be able to have all three rooms beside each other so we can open the deck all the way through. The wait listed room is of the same category of the kids and uncle, but I think in a slightly better location, so not sure they would be up for swapping. Hoping it becomes available before final payment.

  16. Thanks, I received some info regarding weddings and vow renewals - not sure it's worth the $. Most of what is included in the fee, we would have already received with our suite and I would feel like I am paying for it twice. We decided to do it on our 25th instead while in Fiji.
