  1. Great thanks folks. We are from UK so he wouldn't be happy if he couldn't have the odd beer on holiday yet he can at home :)

We are on the reflection on August 8th doing the med for our sons 18th birthday. His request was for anywhere he can drink legally (our drinking age is 19). Europe it was! We have already booked and both kids (also have a 20 year old daughter) have the premium drink package on their reservation, so all is good! What cruise are you on??

  2. I tend to start thinking about what to bring 1 month out. I start putting aside clothes as I find them, as potential items. I usually have them folded in a laundry bin with fabric softener sheets to keep them fresh. About a 4 days prior I actually go through and start packing. Again, I put new fabric softener sheets in our luggage. This helps if you are living out of a suitcase for a few days prior to the cruise. Once on the ship, I have them in my pj drawers. For other trips, business trips for example, I usually pack the night before. My husband and children do all their own packing, I refuse to be responsible if I packed the wrong items. They usually do their packing midnight the night before we leave. Drives me crazy but I find a glass of wine or two helps while they are scrambling to find everything at the last minute.

  3. We are doing the 11 day on August 8th. We are also travelling with our two teenagers. I am really looking forward to our pre cruise in Rome and will just enjoy the cruise as it becomes. I have a feeling, our cruise may still change as the months go on. My preference was based on days at sea and days on the ship. We have not been to any of the ports, besides Rome. Our daughter did Greece with her highschool, but my husband, son and i have not.

  4. Call celebrity and change the names. We have never had a problem booking the kids in their separate rooms. Although we usually have a connecting room, for our next cruise our kids (19,17) are booked in the room next to us. As long as one of the names on the reservation remains the same, celebrity will switch things around without hassle. If you booked with a travel agent, they will need to call on your behalf. This way you have no issues using the spa or eating at blu when you have the time just the two you. They will not allow the entire family eat at blu. We once had a RS with the kids in the connecting concierge room and they were not able to join us if we had decided to eat at blu.

  5. Thank you for starting this thread. I am one of those that decided to book a celebrity suite for our next cruise. We booked two celebrity suites so that the kids could have their own space versus booking the PH for the four us. Looking through the specs of the new updates for suites, i can see that celebrity suites were overlooked and actually had perks removed, i can only imagine that this was an oversight that will be rectified. Looking forward to a response from an informed representative of Celebrity.

  6. According to celebrity, it would have cost me $3000 to change to the new promotion, obviously not worth it in my situation. We had decided to book two celebrity suites for our next cruise. I am upset at the lack of consideration for the celebrity suites, i am personally happy that the sky suites are now invited to Michaels since i have always thought they should have been, but annoyed at the idea that we are now getting sparkling wine, which we have always gotten, a bottle of water and canapés, which again have always been part of the experience and losing our two dinners for our European cruise. I will still enjoy our cruise, this will not diminish our experience, but it is unfortunate to have that feeling of losing something.

  7. In my experience with celebrity, i would not be surprised if they start the roll out early. It seems in the past, new programs / perks etc would get implemented prior to the official start date. It wouldnt surprise me if they started to invite sky suites in sooner. Just like i have heard that the chic evenings have also started prior to the official start date. I do not work for celebrity, so do not take this as confirmation, its just what i have experienced in the past.

  8. Great choice!! We are doing the Reflection departing on August 8th next summer. Although we decided to stay in Rome for a few days prior and travel on departure date so I won't comment on any hotels in the Port Area. I have done research on departure time. We fly out on the same day at 11:20 am back to Canada. I have been reassured that we will have no issues with the timing. I have already booked our transfers with Romeinlimo, picking us up at 7:30 at the port. We will prob have to do a walk off, but well worth it to have the peace of mind of getting out early enough.

  9. We have two reservations currently. We booked our room on board and received a great deal with the 1 2 3 perks, receiving all three and added OBC. I had booked the four of us in one stateroom. When it came down to switch it to the actual cruise we wanted, the kids decided they wanted their own stateroom, so i managed to keep our rate and perks for the one stateroom and the second stateroom with just the 123 (all three again, but no extra OBC). 6 months later, the kids decided to bring friends. At this point, the go big, better, best pricing came out. After doing the math, it made sense to switch to the go best. It basically gave the kids free internet (which they appreciate for Instagram, snapchat, etc but mom and dad dont really need it) and we dont have to worry about using the OBC to upgrade to premium drink package.

  10. Louise, quick question. What was the earliest you could leave the ship at the end of the cruise? I know the airport is an hour drive, on a good day, from the port. Our flights are at 12:30, which is probably cutting it close, but hoping it will work, since its the only direct flight available for us. Thanks again for all your info

  11. Interesting. We had a conference planned for Istanbul in October 2016, but the organizers decided to change the location to Portugal, because of the potential unrest. Since we no longer had a week planned, i was quite excited to book the cruise with an overnight next August. Will be interested to see what happens. I have never been to Greece or turkey, so cant comment on best place for an overnighter, but will make the most of any changes that may happen, whether in port or on the ship. The kids may actually appreciate an extra sea day, one more day that mom and dad are not rushing them off early in the morning. Lol
