  1. No problem at all. If you are allocated the early sitting the Maitre d' will gladly swap you to late as there is always a shortage of seats on first sitting for some inexplicable reason.

I just wonder that with the new 'restrictions' on Saver fares if this will still remain true ??

  2. Hi

My mum and dad have booked our first ever cruise on a Cunard ship on 18th July for 21 days. Its a cruise around the Med and although I am looking forward to seeing all the different destinations I am nervous about the formality of cruises

As my parents and I have never cruised before we don't know what to expect.

Probably all silly questions I know for experienced cruisers however I would really appreciate advise on the following:

    1. How much luggage can you take. its a 21 day cruise from Livorno, Italy and I was wondering how much I need to pack for three weeks

    2. What would I be expected to wear on formal and semi formal nights. Can you get away with most things as long as they look smart

    3. What would I wear on informal nights

    4. Will there be much for someone my age (I am 16) to do on board ship. Will there be many my age on board. I don't really want to hang out with my parents all the time and they probably want their space anyway

Thanks everyone for any help you can give

    Jules :)

Hi Jules - just one thing the Cruise you mention on 18th July on QE is from Rome (Civitavecchia) not Livorno !!! Livorno is the first port of call after leaving Civitavecchia.. Just thought I would mention - just in case.

Other wise go for it and just join in !!. You will all have a great time I am sure - hope so anyway - great itinerary.

  3. Many people have been successful with their rightful claims but Thomson and indeed all airlines initially deny liability.

It can take many months however.

My daughters have had to take Thomson to the Small Claims Court which seems to be the usual process, but it has been going on now for 18 months as Thomson continue to delay admitting liability. Seemingly there is a case Monarch have taken to the High Court which Airlines hope will go in their favour so then can avoid the payouts. Expecting settlement within next 2 months. Good luck and keep pursuing your claim.

  4. Well we must have just been lucky.

Have been on four Cunard cruises now and well I must have my early morning 'cuppa' soon after I wake up. Disappointed at first not having kettle etc in cabin but soon got into the routine of ordering room service - tea for two, and sometimes cereal depending on the itinerary for the day for 7.15am.

Room Service has always been spot in timing and the water hot and not tasting of anything else!

Ready then for breakfast in Lido/Brittania 8am onwards.

    Thoroughly recommended.

  5. Hi. After a rather stressful summer selling a long held family property, we desperately needed a break, so we booked last week on the QM2 from NYC to SOTON on the 19th. We love New York so are spending 4 nights there prior to the voyage. The vacation will also be a slightly delayed Ruby wedding anniversary celebration.

Now I have read quite a few posts about the QM2 and TA's (and seen some of the video's !!) but having sailed on the QE it will be our first time on the QM2.

We are obviously hoping that the Atlantic will be reasonably kind to us but do any of you seasoned TAer's have any really good tips please?

We will be staying in Midtown and I am guessing that we will need to leave about 1 hour to get to the Brooklyn Terminal - what time do they normally allow boarding from? What time do you think it best to get there? Any tips like that or about the QM2 in general would be most welcome.

    Thanks in anticipation. G
