  1. Hi! I'm consider taking this excursion during our upcoming cruise in September (fingers crossed it actually sails). Your review definitely makes me want to take this tour as I've been to St Kitts twice now and would love to visit the sister island of Nevis and this excursion sounds really fun yet also relaxing.

Quick question though... Do they make you wear life vests to snorkel? We are advanced open water divers with our own snorkeling gear and I know its a liability issue for the cruise ship/tour company but it drives me insane to be forced to wear one of those stupid things. Thanks for any info you can provide!

  2. Bohio Dive Resort, my go to place to relax for the day when at port in Grand Turk, will be closed the first week in October when we're there. Anyone know of any other "resort for a day" type places to visit on Grand Turk away from the cruise ship crowd? Thanks for any help you can provide!!

  3. Depends on the suite. We stayed in a Haven Spa suite. Liquor was not included in our suite. We did have a bottle of sparkling wine in our room upon arrival. The garden villas and owners suite do include Liquor. Not sure which other rooms do as well. Regardless of liquor or not, it was the most amazing experience of my life! I felt like royalty every second of the day. Wouldn't even know you were on a ship with 3,000 other people. Felt like a ship to ourselves it was so secluded!!!

  4. We'll be visiting St. Croix on Tuesday December 15th. My husband and I like to snorkel and relax on the beach and grab a bite to eat and have tasty beverages. It seems most of the restaurants at the recommended beach locations (Sandcastle, Buccaneer, etc...) are closed on Tuesdays. :( Anyone know of a good beach spot with an open restaurant and bar that day? Thanks for any info you can provide!

  5. I went to Europe for the first time on the Sunshine in 2013. Best vacation of my life. Some people prefer to travel to Europe on land vacations, but for our first time it was perfect. We didn't have to worry about transportation or hotels or much of anything. And we discovered what our favorites were.

For so long, I had dreamed of traveling to Venice. It just looked so magical. It turns out I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. But, I ended up falling in love with Barcelona, somewhere I had never wanted to visit.

I have no experience on inaugural cruises, but I think the Sunshine was the exception rather than the rule. And if little things are not perfect or finished, it probably won't matter. You will be so caught up in the magic of Europe (and probably so exhausted at night) that you may not even notice.

I hope you get your cruise!

I agree with Venice... I don't know why its so glorified. Both times I've been it was packed with people, stinky, and covered in trash and graffiti. The water in the canals is a hideous green color, looks like sewage.

  6. I did the Dream's 1st cruise out of Europe in 2009. I had a blast. Many of the ports we stopped at had custom signs welcoming the ship on her first cruise. I do agree though, a 13 day cruise with that many ports is extremely tiring. I remember my day in Naples/Capri/Pompeii was twelves hours of walking everywhere (with some buses in between)! I couldn't even go to dinner after that shore excursion. I simply went to bed so I could wake up for the next day's shore excursion. Also, all the hot tubs were not working for at least 1/2 of the trip so I couldn't even rest my sore tootsies in hot bubbles.

BUT it was still amazing. I have thousands of pictures from that trip and so many good memories! I'm ready to do it all again with my husband on May 1st 2016 because we're booked in Havana Cabana #5215!! Can't wait!

  7. I saw photos of Vista, and I gotta hand it to Carnival: I was pleasantly surprised by it. I was half-expecting a massive, uninviting-looking ship, like Oasis or Allure, but it looks pretty sleek, and even slightly reminiscent of more classic ships. The new outdoor dining areas and the sports venues should be awesome. I also would love to try the Seafood Shack, even with extra cost, although it feels like a paid version of the Conquest class's Fish and Chips venue.

I only have two gripes with Vista: (1) the suite-exclusive Havana pool, that limits access to one of the most scenic areas of the ship with a view of the wakes, and (2) I'm pretty sure it'll sport those god-awful Playlist Productions shows.

I also have a question. The Red Frog Pub is now called Red Frog Pub and Brewery. Does that mean it'll have a microbrewery in the back, or is that just a fancy name?

I 100% agree about the Playlist Productions being horrible. I feel so bad for the dancers. You can tell that many of them have real talent but the outfits and the choreography are just ....ick. I have no words to describe how cheesy their costumes are. I'll take the Vegas show girls in thongs back please.
