Shortages of all kinds of things on Edge.
Really surprised at the number of shortages there are on the ship. From reading the Roll Call from the first two legs I knew there were supply chain issues. Dubai didn't allow multiple container loads to be loaded - included many wines, beers etc.
Some of the remarkable ones that I see as a Celebrity issue are things like Brown Raw Sugar in al Bacio and the rest of the ship. Continued outages of many of the wines on the Premium Package is apparent every evening. One would have thought Celebrity could have locally sourced most anything in Singapore.
Imo most of it has to do with Food Safety.
Sourcing locally means that you don‘t follow your supply chain and if something happens, the company will be in tremendous trouble.
I was working in a big chocolate factory, and one day, the supplied butter was not good anymore.
So the head of production send workers over to buy butter at the local supermarket to keep on producing.
He was fired for that oversight… big drama and it was made sure that this would never happen again. And that is 20 years ago

Bora Bora has limited their port to passenger numbers of 1200 max. after reopening after Covid
>>Ships with a capacity of more than 2,500 passengers would be restricted to only Tahiti, Raiatea and Moorea while Bora Bora will only be allowed to welcome 1,200 cruise passengers per day.<<

We always book a rental car, pick it up at the airport and return off at the port.
Most car rentals offer a free shuttle to the port, I personally prefer dropping DW and luggage off at the pier, then drive to the car rental and return by shuttle.

In am afraid the new CEO and team have been mainly installed to execute significant cuttings of cost and not so much to maximize the customer experience.
However I hope that the visit brings some positive changes for all of us passengers.

Apologies for asking the same question: Did the Polynesian Folklore Group make an appearance in Papeete or did they stop that as well?
-
We have always booked with Avis, unlimited miles and insurance covered.
I‘d take the car only for 1 day to loop around the island and do the rest by walk.
If you don‘t know to drive stick, make sure that you rent the correct car. Our cars always had manual gear shift.

Did Celebrity treat you with a Hawaiian Folklore Combo?
-
We did this already 3 times and are looking forward to your trip report.
Too bad that Bora Bora limits access to larger Cruiseships like Solstice, it has been always the highlight on your cruises.

We have been on Edge during a TA back in 2019 and loved every minute on her!

I don‘t enter a long haul flight without my Bose QC20 in-ears.
They have a cable, but the NC function lasts for over 10 hours.
I never liked the over-ears as if you touch the seatrest with them, the vibration will be transmitted.

Have you booked the cruise already?
It's only 20euro per day when you choose the 'all in' price category to get the easy package when you book.
After you booked the cruise, the easy package costs around 32euro per day.
If you are going to have a couple of drinks per day, then they easy package will be more than worth it.
A glass of wine costs around 6euro plus 15% tax on board, a glass of Diet Coke is around 3euro, a bottle of water 1L is around 3euro. A cappuccino is around 4euro.

Here is my experience in June.
You can find the ticket(s) with the daily program the night before. Fill in the ticket and bring it with you, it will be charged to your cabin.
I forgot to bring the ticket with me, the staff provided me a ticket at the shuttle stand.
The price was around 17 or 18 euro in Helsinki and Stockholm.
Since I wanted to avoid the crowd, it was around 10am when I boarded the shuttle, it was quite empty.

Hi there, I have never sail with YC so I cannot give you any opinion.
You are travelling with 2 teenagers, have you consider booking 2 balcony cabins with connection door?
It will be more comfortable for everyone.

One severe outbreak on a cruiseship - no matter what line - and probably denial of going into port can put the entire cruise industry on their knees - again.
And that is the only reason, why you still need a test to board a cruiseship.
Personally, I have no idea where the issue is with testing. I‘d rather know that the person that I meet on a plane/ship/train has tested negative - so is not symptomatic and my risk of getting infected by him/her is not zero but minimal.

The noise, the commotion, the good but not excellent food. All of that has moved to specialty dining; quieter, less commotion, food prepared to order instead of en masse.
You may have to accept that people are allowed to have different perspectives and viewpoints. Yours and my opinion differ. I respect that. I'm not trying to change your mind, nor am I trying to say you are wrong. I do take offense that i've told another gentleman I find the MDR to be hot (it was on my last trip) and he refuses to accept my word, so I won't converse with him further. If I was uncomfortable I was uncomfortable and no one will gaslight me that I was.
It's just a meal on vacation. It's not that impressive or important to me. I dress for my comfort, not for being someones elses background scenery or to impress the staff. I'm repeating myself now.
It seems each time someone wants to ask a question or extend the conversation that it's really just a trap to insult my perspectives and opinions. I don't really appreciate it. I'll unsubscribe from the thread. I'm one of the 20-30% of men and women you will see on your next caribbean cruise wearing shorts in the evening and in the dining room.
Me, myself and I……
Rules are rules, stick to them or stay away, please!

We were denied a "downline exit" by X when we wanted to leave the Sillie in LaHarve transit to Paris instead of getting off in Southampton the next day.
My guess is that you are supposed to leave in the UK while Le Havre is part of the EU, so totally different rules in terms of immigration, customs etc.

Filling up reusable water bottles directly from the dispenser is considered to be un- hygienic.
You can do as follows:
Take a cup/glass, fill is up and then fill your reusable bottle up from there

Now that the new guidelines for cruises out of Southampton have been released, it is evident that we both count as "up to date" with our vaccinations (both have had 2 doses + booster). We were planning on taking (surgical) masks with us anyway (which we've been using for months) but I am now upgrading us to FFP2 (N95) masks, and we'll be using those on board. Given the reports of +ve cases on board - and the isolation that then ensues, this seems like a sensible precaution. I'll also be socially distancing as well. I'd rather not get sick - and if I am sick, I'd rather not make others sick.
Bravo!

When we where on Edge in 2019 on the first day, the Sales assistant told us, that on one of the coming days, they will run a promotion with lower prices on Apple products.
And they did. They where around 10% off.
Not sure if that happens on all ships and itineraries but it can‘t hurt to ask.

When there is nothing on the menu, that we really like, we order Filet Mignon.

Make sure you go to Blu for breakfast.
In our opinion, the it‘s much better at that time compared to MDR or the buffet.

It has been said before: If your health is compromised to a degree that you can‘t be vaccinated against Covid - you should try to avoid other people as much as you can - because you are basically double-unprotected.
A cruiseship is not a good place to be under those circumstances.

We have often been on Sushi on 5 with a prepaid dining package.
Always had ‚ all included‘ but we made sure that this was the case when making the reservations.
Lobster Ramen and Wagyu Sliders where our favorites.
Truffle Tuna also was phantastic!

I would ask the restaurant concierge to split the bill when going to there for dinner.
