Speaking of myVegas rewards, what happens to the reward/points when RCCL cancels a cruise?
-
I guess I have no complaint yet at 40 days.
-
I tried to L&S our 7/6/20 7 day Empress New England/Canada cruise to a 7/5/21 Empress 7 day Bermuda cruise and was told NO. Cruise had to be to the same region. Now the decision becomes 1) L&S to the 7/19/21 New England/Canada cruise, 2) take the 125% FCC and book the Bermuda cruise (probably an additional $500) or 3) take the refund. At least I have till June 10 to decide.

We have an 7 day Empress cruise July 6 to New England and Canada. Can I lift and switch to an 8 day Bermuda cruise on the Empress July 2021?
-
We are booked on a July 6 Empress cruise from Cape Liberty to New England/Canada. First of all, Canada ports are closed to cruise ships till 7/1. This could easily be extended. Second, what port would want a ship full of passengers from the NYC metro area to stop at their port. Based on the NY/NJ situation, way too dangerous.

Yes the ov cabins are very small on empress. No sofa in the cabin like other ships but there are just a couple spacious ov cabins. Check out cabins 7664 7164 also deck 8 and maybe deck 9 has them.
Same cabins on 8 and 9 are larger. 7664, 8664 and 9664 all have a second window. There are videos on YouTube.

Empress 7/6 to New England/Canada DBP still $55.

I am interested but it says on our cruise it's at 7PM. I would rather a lunch. Anyone know if Majesty will have a lunch time open up?
That's a weird time for the class, Usually it's 10 or 11 am on a sea day,

I'm going to be cruising a few days ahead of y'all on Grandeur (14th-23rd). I'm looking forward to walking in a lot of places (Portland, Bar Harbor, St. John), but I'm thinking HoHo (hop-on/hop-off) buses in Boston and Halifax. I'm really excited about Halifax -- especially the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic (along with the HMCS Sackville -- thanks for that reminder!), Ft. Needham Memorial Park (site of memorials to the victims of the "Halifax explosion" on December 6, 1917) and Fairview Lawn Cemetery, resting place of many victims from the Titanic.
Beware. The last time I looked at the Halifax HOHO bus web site it indicated they were skipping the Titanic cemetery due to road construction. I'd check it again before I purchased tickets.

Did the class previously on Empress with my 12 y/o son. We both had fun and enjoyed it a lot. We needed my wife's help to eat all the sushi the two of us made. Worth doing and we are considering doing it again on our July cruise.

We cruised to Cuba (I know lucky us) on Empress two years ago. The ship was much more casual than our previous cruises. Formal nights (I guess now known as Dress Your Best) were the full array of dress with very little in the way of "formal" wear. We are doing New England/Canada in July and are planning on "smart casual" for formal nights. Might even bring a tie!

Easily is the key word. You'll probably make it but I'd try for a 1 pm flight.

We like to bring an over-the -door shoe bag. We hang it on the outside the bathroom door and store our sunscreen , lotions, lanyards , chargers, etc. in it. It really frees up the limited counter space . Another tip I have read about, but never used, was to bring a small blow up swimming pool from the dollar store to use inside the shower to bathe small children ( which I don't have ). One last tip is to decorate the cabin door to help locate your room easier . Just don't put up anything that you'd hate to have taken. Sometimes people decide it's funny to steal other people 's things .
Agree about the shoe bag except we hang it on the inside of the bathroom door.

Empress is no different from any other Royal Caribbean ship in this regard. Read any thread on CC on this topic - and there are many.
RC does not enforce any sort of standards for how people are dressed, on formal nights or any other.
Wear whatever makes you happy.
We were on Empress 2 years ago to Cuba. As I recall the ship was much more casual than most. They might call it formal (or dress your best) but it looked like any other nigh in the MDR. IU agree with Merion Mom, whatever makes you happy will be OK.

You can take the Silver Line to South Station, and it's about a 10 minute walk to the Freedom Trail from there, or transfer (free) to the Red Line and take it to Park Street Station, right on the Trail
This is our plan for our Empress July New England/Canada trip. Park Street is right at the Boston Common. My 14 y/o son wants to visit the Granary Burial Grounds (Paul Revere, Samuel Adams) and the Central Burial Grounds (down Boyleston Street at the othe end of the Common). We saw them from our HOHO bus on our last trip to Boston and my son was ingtrigued. He also wants to see the Titanic Cemetery in Halifax.

Have a great time. Good thing you’re planning on using the HOHO before your cruise... when ships are in port it’s nearly impossible to get on/off the trolleys due to the crowds.
We found the same issue Columbus Day weekend 2018. Easy to get off to view a site/attraction but difficult to get back on to continue journey. Good overview of Boston but would question the need for 3 days. A pass for the T might work better days 2 and 3.

For our Empress New England/Canada cruise in July my 14 year old son has our excursion (on our own) picked out. We are going to take the T (Silver line to Red line) to explore the Granary Burial Ground (Paul Revere, Samuel Adams) and the Central Burial Ground. On our last trip to Boston we did the hop on, hop off bus (USS Constitution, Bunker Hill and Faneuil Hall) and passed these burying grounds. Hence the fascination with visiting them this trip.

You can download the RCCL app on your smart phone for free. Empress is supported on this app. You can review your cruise or a similar one for menus, activities, etc. I think you can also review deck plans on the app.

Oasis class ships might be too big for Bermuda?
You beat me to it!

I believe several of the Empress' cruises this summer visit Hamilton and St. George rather than the Dockyard.
-
Do you get a beverage cup even if the ship (Empress) does not have freestyle machine?
-
We did Christmas 2018 on Freedom and there was quite an expansive Christmas Day dinner. It started with some regular menu items but also included turkey, ham and beef wellington. Baked brie was a special appetizer. But I do agree desserts were nothing special. We did enjoy the dinner.

Deluxe package is back to $51 pp per day for our July 6, 2020 Empress New England/Canada cruise. Same as black Friday.
-
For our July 6 Empress cruise (Canada/New England) the drink package has been $55 for all of December. It was $51 on black Friday ($61 with vroom).

I used the 50K reward twice with no problems, latest was on an Empress cruise that was supposed to start on Monday (7/6). Of course the cruise has been cancelled. Do I get myVegas points back or are the gone with the wind just like my trip insurance?
