-
Wow, what ship?
Oops sorry Voyager of the Seas
Works out at less than $85 a night for a balcony cabin on a great ship

10 night South Pacific cruise on voyager of the seas guaranteed balcony 18th November 2015 $834!!!!! And we have paid $2500 for a junior suite for this cruise doh!
-
I think it was the Sostice's deals I saw the included premium drinks package....... its no wonder most of their summer cruises have sold out if that is included:D
-
I guess it brings up the subject in a broader sense of promos introduced after you have already booked......... I have heard of people getting money back when a cruise they have booked goes on sale afterwards
-
That's funny maybe I was looking at wrong cruise sorry about that

Hi,
We have already booked for Voyager of the seas South Pacific cruise 18th November and had a $200 credit to our tab included.
But now in advertising the cruise they are including a $1200 premium drinks package. Anyone think there's any chance of getting this package as well or only for new bookings?

Recently off the Navigator last few weeks. We signed up for one device unlimited internet and we are pleased with performance. I work with Internet at home and I am aware of what decent wifi speed is. The ship is by far not the same, but it is acceptable. You will notice faster speeds in the morning and late venting which is logical as more people are using it during the day.
Other points:
1. You will find spots on the ship with faster performance such as around Guest Services and some bars.
2. Surprised that we were even able to connect while in our inside cabin at times. Not better performance there, but we connected.
3. Performance of course not great for streaming services like Video Chats or streaming movies for sure, but basic browsing of websites, emails and such are OK.
thanks for the detailed reply. They have an offer that you can do a second device for half price but do you think it would be worth that or just use one device as a hot spot for another? Only problem with that is you have to be in the same place as your travelling companion.

Hi there.
from what I have read the new Quantum class ships will have the fastest internet with their own satellite dish.
I am going on Voyager of the Seas here in Australia on a cruise on the 18th of November, that is next month. I know it has been refurbished but does anyone know if it has faster internet or the same old internet that is familiar to cruising?
The cost at $200 for internet for a 10 day cruise is ridiculously high and if this is for bad service that would really annoy me. You would think with the amount we pay for a cruise it would be complimentary, especially when it is as bad as dial up speed.

Thanks for posting we were on that cruise so it is nice to look back on the trip thanks again
No worries Chester32, the clip also bought a lot of memories back to me of the ship, we did an around NZ trip a couple of years ago. Its funny how a sound can bring back memories, hearing that chime when you put your card in the machine to go out for excursions took me back there.
I did love the ship luxury wise but am going on the Voyager next for a bit more fun vibe. I enjoyed the fun aspect of the slide when we went on the Spirit, the only aspect I think missing on the Solstice.

True Beanb41 but I said new to YouTube not the documentary itself. I remember when it was because we went to Newcastle harbour to see her in being her first time there. In any case an excellent documentary for those researching this ship or cruise.

Hi,
just come across a Mighty Ships documentary new to youtube of the Celebrity Solstice doing its top end Australia for anyone doing research on this ship or cruise. I have done the solstice on a NZ trip and must say its a beautiful luxurious new trip, best suited to an older crowd rather than families with children.
-
Went on solstice on the 12 night cruise around New Zealand and the ship itself is hard to fault, one of the newest nicest ships ive ever been on, great shows, beautiful indoor pool.. Only fault would be if you have children the voyager may be a little more fun for them since solstice is more a seniors ship. We actually passed the voyager, we heard it had to skip going to 2 ports that we went to both due to winds, not sure if solstice is better equipped? Thise stops were milford sound and wellington. Our milford sound cruising was stunning, we had crystal clear weather, which is quite rare for the sounds..

Thanks for the info. Does it have a 'friends of dorothy' group? Ive always been to scared to go to one of those on a cruise ship fearing a group full of ole biker bears dressed like that guy from the village people:/

Im coming from Australia to do a US holiday from mid August to mid September and was thinking of going solo on Oasis or Allure. Wondering if many gay guys go on these ships or is it purely families?
If anyones going let me know:)

Hi,
Im coming from Australia to holiday in the US from mid August to mid September and was wondering how long before a cruise cruise companies usually announce their specials? 6 months? 3 months? 1 month?? or does it depend on circumstances of demand etc?
I was thinking to go on allure or Oasis as a solo traveller just so I can say I have been on the biggest ship in the world and also because it looks fun and stops at St Maarten so I can visit Maho beach where the planes fly in low.
From what Ive seen Oasis and Allure seem to be the most expensive but not sure if they have specials?
-
I was just wondering with, say Allure or Oasis with their stop at St Maarten whether it is far from Princess Julianna airport because I would love to see where the planes land extremely close to the beach.
Would you also have time to go see it?
would be interested if anyones had experience with this.

She's both big and beautiful, but unfortunately Newcastle Port doesn't allow you get up close and personal. We had to be satisfied with looking from a cafe on the other side of the harbour, since we weren't able to get to town early enough to see her arrive.
But it was certainly enough to whet the appetite! :-)

If you think she's big you may fall over seeing voyager or Oasis

this is a link to the Newcastle ports authority schedule which lists all cruise ship arrivals, should help

I work in Newcastle and enjoyed seeing the Radiance in port for the day. Pity it was such a cold breeze that day and surf was whipped up. I heard a lot of American/ Canadian accents. ONe thing I chuckled about was I overheard an older black american couple chatting and she was going on about a shopping experience in Newcastle where she must have tried to pay in American dollars, saying "well she said to me this is AWWWWWWstralia we have australian money here, and I said to her well we are on an American Ship!!!"
Hilarious lol

If you feel sea sick go straight away to the desk reception area and they can give you sea sick tablets. I found this invaluable on a short trip from Sydney to Melbourne was feeling awful and the tablets made me feel great for the rest of the trip.

in regard to salon type treatments, well if you want to pay $200 for a massage that you can get in any westfields for $40 - $50 bucks then go right ahead but the salon treatments are ridiculously overpriced so your best off looking for something like this on shore.
-
thanks for your replies... its funny we thought we got a good deal for the celebrity suite at $3000 each for 12 nights but you can easily add another $1000 to that for the tours especially the trans alpine train and overnight tour to Queenstown. Oh well better to do them than wonder why we didn't
