Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/20)

  1. SkystheLimit: Thanks. It's very possible we will be tired! The days start early and some go pretty late.
  2. Thanks, Gilly. I should have said we leave on 9/18. Actually, I do understand changing climates somewhat, as we live in the SF Bay area and it can be beautiful in the 70's one day and 90+ (F of course!) the next. I was told on my last cruise by someone from England that it would be very cold in late Sept. I said "Very cold, or just cool?" and she said "Very cold!" Yet when I read the average temps for Sept it says 70's, which seems nice. I do understand it can always rain (something we would love to have at the moment!) and I think it will be windy in Scotland and far north, like at the Shetland and Orkney Islands. But we're looking forward to it! Thanks.
  3. We wonder if any of you have a few restaurant recommendation for us near the May Fair Hotel in London. We will be on our 3-day pre-cruise before our British Isles cruise on Splendor in September. The days are pretty packed but we will be on our own for dinners. We'd like nice restaurants but not overly formal since I think we'll be tired after a long day. But we still like to eat! Also, if you'd like to give us a hint about what kind of weather to expect (Sept 22-Oct 4) that would be great too! Would certainly help with packing choices. Thanks!
  4. Just to clarify, you can use your FCC on any cruise not already fully paid. We've spoken to our TA and are able to apply it to our already booked 2024 cruise. This has been discussed several times above, so that is one less thing to worry about. Am I happy about having 9 sea days out of 16? No, not at all. But I don't want our trip marred by lots of negativity and complaining about it. My husband and I are planning to make the best of a situation which is not what we originally chose and paid for, but here it is.
  5. I think we're all aware that the contract we sign gives them the "right" to do or change anything they want, with no benefit accruing to us the passengers. But the real question is, SHOULD they? Is it really the right thing to do? I don't think I can ever trust Regent again. This is a total Bait-and-Switch. I would have NEVER chosen this itinerary to spend this amount of money on. And to be at the very last minute? Unconscionable. Apparently they are aware of our "disappointment" as today we received another letter offering a 20% FCC. Personally I still don't feel it's enough. I just feel very, very cheated. We've been waiting 18 months for this cruise (or rather, the one we originally booked) but now we have no enthusiasm for it whatsoever.
  6. My thoughts exactly. I would never have booked an expensive cruise with this itinerary. We live in SF area--why would we choose a day in LA?? We purposely avoid LA! We choose our cruises for destinations, not sea days. And it's on such short notice. We are extremely disappointed, yet what recourse do we have? I honestly think the $500 should be $5000 and cash refund rather than shipboard credit. Not happy! Any ideas of a group action?
