Is it easy to tet a taxi at the airport to hotel in french quarter.
-
thank you for your reply. We are cruising out of New Orleans, but my partner wanted to go on a paddle boat. Not sure why, but I preferred not to book it, just wait & see. So it is helpful to know we can just go on the day if we decide on it.
Also we will take the streetcar but wasnt sure what places were best to get off.
I appreciate your help xxx

My partner & I are in New Orleans at the start of April for 2 days before our cruise, we are coming from the U.K, and we are staying in the french quarter area.
We would like to take a paddle boat trip in the day time, would we need to book this or can we just turn up.
We will probably take the streetcar, do we go anywhere particular on it, or just get on it for the ride & the views.
Also any other tips of what to do would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

We did have FTTF, which was showing as sold out till a month before we sailed.
We arrived at 10.20 and were on board just after 11.00. So I would imagine if you got there for 10.00 you would board just after FTTF.
Have a lovely cruise, we did.

Thanks ReggaeRoy,
I think we will stick with Dr Caves & the hipstrip. Just wasn't sure what the hipstrip was, and if it was safe.

Hi,
Ive never been to Jamaica, and arriving at Montego Bay next month with Carnival Magic.
Ive read lots of posts on here, & was thinking of going to Dr Caves beach, & getting a taxi at the port,
I've also read that people walk to the hip strip. Is it safe to do this, & how do you get there, via the beach or is there a road. Once you are there is it safe.?.And is it easy to get a taxi back to the ship.?
The other alernatives I, myself & my man, was to go to Hilton Rose Hall . A.I. , or go to tge Blue Hole, which looks like it may be too far away from Montego Bay port.
Thanks for any advice you can offer. Xx

It is the same price $260 for 2 of us, must be what they charge. Thanks for the reply

Yeh I agree, lots of different prices quoted on here from Montego Bay with Liberty. We would really love to go there but given the cost quoted im not sure it would be worth all the travelling.
Ive heard different travel times quoted, 1 hour 45 minutes. Has anyone done this trip and how long has it taken to get there.
Thanks everyone for your replies, it really does help hearing from people who have experienced these trips.
-
Maybe we will have to look at something different then, it would take mist if the time travelling.

I sent an enquiry to Liberty Tours as no pride quoted on the site. I have been quoted $260 for 2 people from Montego Bay to Blue Hole, admission, lunch & transportation.
I also tried Courtney Taylor& they quoted $90 each plus$10 entry to Blue Hole, not very clear if lunch is included in this price, just states they will stop somewhere for lunch.
These prices seem a lot higher than people on here are being quoted, any suggestions for a cheaper quote.

Can anyone reccomend the best comedians on the Magic. We sail in March and would like to know the best ones not to miss.
Thanks xx

Thanks for ths review, we sail on the magic 22nd March 2015. Only our 3rd cruise, 1st time on Carnival & 1st time to the Caribbean.
Like the previous fellow follower, I would love to see the fun times if you are able to scan them.
Thanks Jan xx

I have checked 4 times today, every time it said sold out.
I thought you got FTTF for my March sailing with it attached to my thread, but im guessing it's for a different sailing.
-
It says on Sticky at the top of the page that no refunds will be offered for cancellations due to the Ebola scare. Also, says that the cabin they occupied will be left empty for this sailing. Not because there is any problem with it, just because people are nervous.

Also on Magic next March, though different itinerary, cozumel, grand cayman &!Jamaica, so I will be following your post for any hints & tips.
Will be 1st time on Carnival.

Im looking forward to following your review.
We are booked on Magic, same itinerary on 22nd March next year, me & other half. We are new to Carnival & only our 3rd cruise. Strangely this is just the 2 of us, no kids & no grandkids, due to school holidays in the U.K.
Really looking forward to this cruise,, having read all the wonderful reviews on here, & following the cruise critic boards.
We really want FTTF, but check it several times a day & its sold out. Also going to book the Cheers on the 2nd day. Never been to the Caribbean, so super excited.
I didnt know Galveston was an island!!. We have friends in Houston , who also have a house in Galveston so get to spend a week with them before cruising.
Cant wait to read more of your review, and any tips you have.

Thanks lazyart, I have looked on the port forums, they have some very useful information, so I've just got to decide what we want to do & with with which tour company. Have a fabulous cruise & hope you get to put some of it on here, & any good tips you can give me after your vacation, I love reading the reviews.
Mick, I have registered on the roll call, but didnt realise you can get alerts. Up to now, I dont recall anyone mentioning FTTF on there, but I will have another look. That is probably the best place to, find out from fellow cruisers, I do check most days in the hope some will be released.
I also want to do the cheers programme, I have read that we cant do the first day on cruises out of Texas. On my last cruise I Purchased it in advance on Royal Car, but I can't see anywhere I can do this with Carnival.
Thanks Jan xx

Thanks Kerry
This site is great for newbies like me , having never been with Carnival & never been to Carribean.
I have been reading lots of tips & plan to book a private tour in Jamaica & Cayman . Lots of recommendations on here. Sounds like a good idea for Cozumel, & seems Taxi's are easy enough to get.

This will be our first cruise on Carnival, only our 3rd cruise, so relatively newbies. Just me & other half ( ages 55 & 60 ) this time without grand kids.
1) Website says no hairdyers on Magic, several other posts say there are, only a few say they didnt see any. We are in an inside cabin 7302, anyone know if we will be likely to have one, didnt really want to pack extras.
2) Ports are Cozumel, Jamaica & Grand Cayman. Will we be able to use US Dollars or is another currency recommended. ( we are travelling from U.K. & bringing lots of $us for tips etc.)
3) FTTF is sold out, do I just keep checking, do they sometimes release more.
4) We are looking to do Stingrays & beach in Cayman & Irie blue hole & beach in Jamaica, & nice beach & shopping in Cozumel, any tips would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance for any help, love these forums they are so informative & helpful. Xx

I was also wondering if the cabins have hairdryers. We are in M161.
