I noticed that as well. My guess is that the link that is provided goes directly to the specific cruise line for the purpose of cancelling. I’m guessing HAL doesn’t have the technological where with all to handle that.

I finally got through yesterday after a 4 hour wait, but was able to cancel.

    Lucky you

I have been trying to cancel since Friday. Can’t get through  called again this morning at exactly 9:00 et said 2 min wait(sure) 1 hour 45min later was disconnected Called back not receiving any calls

At least I have some time yet cruise is not till 3/27.

We get Private Sales from time to time and they are usually pretty good deals.  The mailer may have both of our names on it, but in reality it only works for my DW!  I have to log in to her account and then the sale information and pricing appears, so try that (use both parties log ins) and see what happens.  My DW's name appears first on the mailings for some reason.

Usually the Private Sales are only for specific sailings, but I have used them for bookings up to a year out.

I never had to use a specific code, just my DW's login.

We just got off the Oosterdam on Sunday. During this cruise we earned 3 star status. We went to the mariner lunch but there was no ceremony that I know of. Our Pins were in our mailbox. Did we miss something?

There is no ceremony for reaching the different star levels that I am aware of only if you are receiving a medallion for # of sea days. Usually when there is a medallion ceremony those invited are the awardees and 4 and 5 * mariners then all mariners are invited to the luncheon. This was the way it was done on my last cruise in April. I think it is up to the.Captain on how it is done.

Non Refundable fares is a new marketing  idea for the cruise lines  so they know what cabins are generally open for sale as  refundable & to have less people cancelling before final payment . Imo not a good idea .These non refundable is a recent  marketing tool :classic_huh:

We carry the Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card & one of the prime benefits is free trip cancellation & free trip interruption & free baggage insurance up to $10000 each person  as long as that is the credit card used . We encourage people to check out this credit card . I am 80 yrs young & it saves me thousands in Insurance cost ;because at 70 years of age the insurance can be 10 to 12 % of the trip cost  .There are also rebates of $500 & leaving that there with chase for future travel gets a 25% bonus or $625 in travel dollars .There are other perks that are valuable for travelers as well . Imo a worthwhile exploration of that credit card  .earns 2 points per dollar .Great card in my wallet .Very Very happy with it & Chase service:classic_biggrin:

I checked out the Chase Sapphire Preferred card for trip cancellation insurance  but they do not cover pre-existing conditions.

  5. Been hearing a bit lately about Legendary Cruises, with HAL. We’re looking at 2019...But I cant find that designation, nor do the people that answer the phone know anything about that. Anybody know?

  6. You're right. Sel de Mer replaced Le Circque. My "oops".

Lucky you on it being offered.

It wasn't offered on our Rotterdam cruise last year and so far, hasn't been offered on our P'dam cruise.

Sea de mar is listed for the P’dam on my booking yesterday $49pp. Don’t know the date as I didn’t try to book

  7. We will be on the Rotterdam on March 11 for 14 days. What internet plans do they offer, and the cost ? We were on the Westerdam last October, and they have 3 packages, but all 3 offer unlimited times and for the whole voyage. I understand that the Rotterdam still has the "by the minute" packages. Any info would be appreciated.

Was on the Rotterdam last month and the pricing is as follows.

    100-minutes $55.00

    250-minutes $100.00

Sorry don’t remember the last one

  8. We were very surprised at the service (or lack of it) in the MDR. They weren’t rude, but rarely followed up after bringing the food and there were long waits between courses at times. They never offered more bread, check back often, etc. as we have had on other cruises. We had to wave them over and ask if we wanted anything else. From our observation it appeared that they had more tables assigned to take care of than I have seen on past cruises.

We did note this on the survey at the end of the cruise. We did not bring it to anyone’s attention during the cruise since it wasn’t horrific service, just not great service. We had never been on HAL before and thought it must have been normal for them.

We also just returned from 2 weeks on the Rotterdam.

You must have had the same waiters as we had. In all my cruises on Holland they were the worst. Not the normal service. This was the first time ever I did not give extra to our waiters

  9. I found particularly amusing that the next highest score (99) was given to the Rotterdam - the ship that, per so many vocal critics on this forum - gets such scathing reviews.

Can't say I am too happy about the Amsterdams' 91 score, considering we will be spending almost three months on her come September. That is her lowest score since 2000. Oh, well, she is scheduled for drydock in May.

Just returned from 2 weeks on the Rotterdam. She is in great shape. No pails or buckets catching dripping water.

Great job on dry dock, still a little rust on our balcony, but other then that she looks wonderful.
