  1. Well, whatever. I don't pay for any of it, and I don't really care if other people do or don't. The poster asked if other people do or not and everyone is answering that question. The nit-picking question started when someone said they don't feel specialty restaurants are worth the extra cost but that they do enjoy Johnny rockets, and then someone (you?) jumped on them about being a hypocrite or whatever. That person's point was that they don't see the point for spending money for dining room food they could get for free but admitted they don't mind paying for Johnny rockets. I didn't see why someone needed to jump on them for that and start a stupid argument so I was simply supporting that poster in that their thought process might be that they don't put the two in the same category because of the cost. People are always getting so defensive and confrontational on here, I can't imagine what life is like when not hiding behind a computer screen, because being so confrontational and picking at people just for the sake of trying to make people feel badly or feel stupid is mean. So, I was standing up for the person that was getting picked on and playing devil's advocate for why they may have seen the two as different categories.

Anyway, I see your point, but my point was, who cares? The person was simply answering the original question but admitted that for them, it isn't a hard and fast boycott because they do pay for Johnny rockets. I didn't see the need for you to nit pick at them as though they aren't allowed to make an exception to the rule, especially if it's because their reason is because it's a lot cheaper to take 4 people to Johnny rockets than Giovanni's or whatever. Your response was purely to be confrontational.

I totally agree. There are far too many negative posters on CC and there is no need for it.

Now to answer the OP`s question, we usually go to the MDR or WJ but have been known to try something new if we did not like the menu in MDR on a given day. On our upcoming Anthem cruise we are considering going to Jamie`s as there have been very positive reviews of the food served there. :)

  2. Not sure your comparison is valid in this case. Yes both motel 6 and Ritz Carleton can both be viable business and prosper because they are targeting different consumers but if motel 6 one day decided to charge Ritz Carleton prices without out changing their product I do not think they would be in business very long.

This is a mass market line and there are very viable alternatives to the RCCL product NCL, Princess, Holland and even Carnival with some of their new ships. I like most consumers purchase based on perceived value. I am one of the passengers who searches for discounted fares because of the value equation. I will say I would be willing to pay a lot higher fare if the product was a higher quality product but with all the cut backs in recent years the value equation is getting very shaky. I cruise 5 - 7 times a year on 7 days or longer cruises on the newer ships because they still provide the value I am looking for. If the prices go up even 15% or 20% they value will not be there for me.

I have tried all the other competitors products and some of them come very close to what I am looking for so RCCL decides not to provide a product at a price point I am willing to pay I have no problem taking my business to other lines.

Getting back to the original point if RCCL improved their product back to like it was I would be more than happy to pay a higher premium to sail on their ships. In my case it is not about the cruise fare but the value I get for my dollars spent.

In the example of sailing at 2/3 full at a 50% higher price being equal that assumes you can find 2/3rds of a ship passengers that are willing to pay the 50% higher fare. I suspect with the current product that may become a problem.

It does seem intuitive that if you can offset the fixed costs (fuel, depreciation, crew, maintenance, etc) of operation of the ship with very little incremental cost (food, cleaning) that should help the margin situation on each sailing. At that point any on board spending is an opportunity for additional revenue that would not exist with an empty cabin.

Bottom line the market/demand will determine prices as it has forever.

Agree with you totally. 8 pages into this thread and you have ( for me ) got it summed up very well.

  3. Below is a link to a thread on this board that lists the 2015 drink prices. I'm not sure what you folks are drinking but I found almost no drinks as high as $12.00.

    What am I missing?

I saw this list before the price increases, so this is another incorrect price list I`m afraid. So that is what you are missing!!

Also the person who put up the list says Quote I cannot vouch for the price accuracy.

So this list is not very helpful if it does not know if the prices they are showing are accurate.

  4. Letters going out to inform pax the ship is shutting things down for the cruise.

After the Oasis and launch fiascos resulting in cruise credits this time there is minimal precruise bribes, people should have the option to cancel.

These changes have been planned for months but wait to after final to tell passengers.

This cruise was overpriced as it was now your not getting what you paid for.

:confused::confused: Does anyone know what this post is about in English as I haven`t got a clue. :)

  5. Hi Megacruiser,

Just wanted to say a very big THANK YOU for your review on Oasis. It has made it a must do cruise for me in the future. As others have already said it is the best review I have ever seen on any cruise review. :)

I am looking forward to your review on Quantum of the Seas as I will be going on Anthem in her September 28th Sunshine in the Canaries Cruise.

Also I have been on Epic as well so will read your review to bring back the good memories of that cruise.

Thanks again for all your hard work,

    take care,

    Mark. :)
