  1. We were on the Reflection on the 10/8/2013 sailing. Out of 10 nights my husband could only get Drambuie 3 times !!! And all 3 times took a waiter to several bars to find this drink. After drink #3 he was told that there was no more available on the ship. This is not an unusual request but one that has not been met on several cruises. What gives Celebrity???

  2. I echo the comments about regional food choices in the MDR.

I truly miss the Promanade deck on HAL as it is great for early morning jogging . This will not change on Celebrity because of the ship design so I jog on deck 5 on S class ships & run back & forth for 3 miles in the early morning.

I rarely go to the shows anymore because they are too predictable although a cruise on the Infinity in March had outstanding entertainment.

Other than HAL & Celebrity I have not cruised on any other lines so I really am not as experienced as many posters even after 13 cruises.

  3. This is my first WW venture but there are several men & women at my weekly meeting who are life time members. All of them say the same thing you said- the maintenance is the hard part. But the successful ones echo the same thread- keep tracking & coming to meetings. I will reach the life time status & I know that meetings at least every 2 weeks would keep me on track. The added benefit that life time members are free as long as they remain within 2 lbs of their goal weight is another plus. I use e tools but do not track that way. I just need meetings as support. Good luck to both of you in your WW program.

  4. WOW! I was bored & was surfing the boards & found the WW thread. Good that so many are focused on healthy eating. I have been a WW since May & am down 30 lbs. Just returned from a Eastern Med cruise with a day in Rome at either end of the cruise. I had a plan to enjoy myself but not to make food & drink the total focus of the cruise. My leeway was a gain of no more than 2 lbs & I am happy to say my gain was .6 lbs. I set the alarm & early morning I ran/ walked 3 miles almost every day. I allowed myself a glass of wine daily but when in Rome we ordered wine at lunch & dinner. I almost always started dinner with a double portion shrimp cocktail. I tried to stick with fish entrees & sometimes just ordered salmon from the left page of the menu . I asked for no potatoes & added extra veggies. Ate lots of fruit . No dessert after dinner but around 10pm went to Oceanview Café for 1-2 small 2 bite desserts if I saw ones I really wanted.I never felt deprived. I hope to reach my goal weight before our next cruise in February on Eclipse but if I don't I will get to my goal weight at some point. Tracking & meetings work for me! Good Luck to all !

  5. We became elite status a few cruises ago. The drink vouchers would serve us just fine because we seldom got to the elite lounge. We are just happy with all of the other perks that the loyalty cruise status gives us. We do not feel the need to meet officers or attend elite only events. The laundry coupons, drink coupons, internet coupons etc are great!:D

  6. We just returned from an Eastern Med port intensive cruise that we loved & we did excursions in every port.

We have not been to the Carribean for 3 years even though this was our vacation destination for many years .Initially we chartered sailboats & sailed many places including the BVI , St Lucia, Grenadines. Once we began cruising in 2000 we let someone else do all of the work.

On our upcoming February cruise we will actually visit 2 ports that we have never seen & we will do excursions there. But otherwise we also view the cruise ship as our destination. It is so great to go somewhere warm in the winter. Even though Maryland does not have anywhere near the snow amounts that many of our fellow travelers have our older bones still get cold !

  7. Formal wear has become less formal with airline weight restrictions for luggage. If you are driving to a cruise port it is easier to bring formal wear.

For my husband we just rent a tuxedo through an online service that delivers to the ship thus avoiding the issue for him. The rental is relatively inexpensive so worry free.

Formal wear for me tends to dressy black slacks or a skirt with a dressy top. I always wear the same outfit twice on a 2 week trip with 3 formal nights. After all --- who remembers or even cares what anyone else is wearing?

My husband actually likes the formal nights more than I do because all he packs is an extra bowtie & his formal shoes since he has never been able to bet the correct sized shoe regardless of the order.

  8. The left side of the dinner menu is the same nightly ,offering shrimp cocktail.caesar salad, grilled chicken, steak, salmon, apple pie among other items.

The right side of the menu changes nightly. There is a wide variety of selections & a chef's recommendation.

You can combine selections from both sides of the menu & even request adjustments .If I selected from the left side ,the entrees come with mashed potatoes & vegetables & I always requested no potatoes & extra vegetables. My requests were always met.

  9. The left side of the menu stays the same all of the time. The right side of the menu changes nightly. You can combine items from either side at any time. On the left side you will always be able to have shrimp cocktail, grilled chicken, salmon, steak , apple pie, crème brulee to name a few.On the right side there is usually a beef, chicken, seafood & vegetarian selection in the entrée section.
