Could someone who will be in Bermuda the next few weeks, do me a favor and check to see if you can get the tram, without prior reservations through Island Tours? Also what the schedule is? I'd appreciate it.
We took the tram today. Did not bother with reservations. It left Dockyard at 10:30, 11:30, and 1:30.
Daniels Head was nice, very laid back, and uncrowded. Paddle Surfing was cool. Interesting and worth a try.

FWIW, we sailed on Summit on 07/06 in cabin 7049 and had no issues, nor did we hear of any from fellow cruisers.
Thanks. That is rather close to the Sweet 16's.

A older, revived thread about bedbugs has a few posters that claim they recently had bedbugs in their Summit cabins. The newer posts start on page 2.
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1196837
I am not sure if I should be worried as each of those posters seem to have only come to Cruise Critic to complain about this one issue. So far, the specific cabins claimed to have the bugs (and the total number of posts made by each poster) are:
2160 – 3 posts (1 roll call, then 2 bedbug thread posts)
6023 – 1 post
6037 – 6 posts (all 6 in bedbug thread)
6023 is a port side Sweet 16 and 6037 is next to the last Sweet 16.
Has anyone else here at CC been in a Summit Sweet 16 recently? I will be sailing soon and am both worried, and skeptical, about this.

This is Snorkel Park in the Dockyard. Does anyone know if they still have these?
-
I have not spent a lot of time on this board, so please forgive me if this question has already been answered here before, but ... If Hamilton and St. George want more cruise ship visits, why don't they increase the size of their channels to accommodate today's larger ships?

I am not an expert, but I have often heard that you should NOT wear contact lenses in the water.
"To prevent infections:
Minimize contact with water. Remove your contact lenses before you bathe, swim or use a hot tub."

I had the same question a few weeks ago...

do they (snorkel park) rent snorkel equip also - approx. price??? - thanks
Renting means not having to lug your own equipment, but it does not cost much more to buy your own.
Speedo Adult Adventure Mask, Snorkel & Fin Set $39.99
Aqua Lung Sport Kids' 4-Piece Santa Cruz Snorkel Set $29.99

Just sailed on the Summit in April 2014 - embarked on Saturday and had a fitful sleep thinking I was sweating. Woke up to bedbug infestation! Celebrity has been pitiful in its response.
Welcome to Cruise Critic! Interesting first post.
May I ask which cabin you were in on the Summit?

Thank you both for the additional info!

And yes it's only about a 10 min bus ride from the dockyard, but add on a 30 min walk.
Thank you so much for the reply! I was beginning to fear that no one here had even been to Daniel's Head! :) We would be cabbing it, so the distance to the bus stop is not a concern. I am very interested in trying out paddle boards and that is what first attracted me to the place.
When you say the beach is not as nice ... I know it does not compare to Horseshoe and its neighbors, but how would you compare it to Snorkel Park or Black Bay beaches? I read there is a cafe at Daniel's Head, true? And are there public restrooms as well?
I think the paddle boarding half of my group would like it, but would the other half that just wants to sit in the shade sipping an umbrella drink be happy, too?
-
Has anyone been to this beach? It seems like it would be a less crowded beach, and just a short trip from the Dockyard.
-
Black Bay Beach is the "glass beach" near the Dockyard. It is now forbidden to collect sea glass there.
No. Black Bay Beach is just a little farther walk down the road past "glass beach". They are close to each other, but very different.
Here is a map. Black Bay is at the far left, cropped to "lack Bay".

Time for NCL to put some more money into GSC and build a pier
Agree.
-
I see that you wrote all the gym work-out classes cost money. I thought I read somewhere that they provide zumba classes for free. Is this not the case?
Thank you.
Zumba was held in the Manhattan dining room, not the gym. It was free.
-
Snorkel Park is also a great option if you get some rain during the day and only have an hour or two late in the afternoon to hit a beach. No long taxi or bus ride to bother with. We did this and not only did we have the beach almost all to ourselves, but there was not even anyone around to collect the entrance fee.
-
I am planning on taking a case of water onboard, but will no doubt need additional.
Then why not just take 2 (or more) cases of water on board with you? You can bring your own soda, too. A nice thing about NCL!

Is the main difference the larger bathroom in the minisuite? How do the actual rooms themselves compare in size? I cannot get a sense of this from photos. Is the minisuite much larger? We currently have 2 connecting BC cabins booked for our family of 4 (one room for my husband and me and one for the kids) Thanks.
The ONLY difference is the bathroom size. AFAIK the rest of the room and balcony are identical.

The following fitness classes denote a charge:
Chiball Fire Yoga
Flywheel Indoor Cycling
TRX Suspension Training
Body Sculpt Bootcamp
Norwegian Fight Klub
Pure Form Pilates
Sunset Yoga
These fitness classes are free:
Rockettes Style Stretch Class
Fab Abs
You forgot Zumba!
Those were free, too, and so popular that they filled the dance floor in the Manhattan Dining Room.
-
They charge for almost every gym class, and there are quite a few. Gives the impression they charge for everything, but not quite. Using the equipment and machines on your own is still free. Everything in the spa is extra cost, adding to the impression.

Does anybody have any pics of one of the stepped out balconies to compare to a regular balcony? Some have called the balconies "small"...are they smaller than the Pearl balconies?
The mini-suite balconies are just as ridiculously small as the regular balconies. Only the one built on the angle is larger.
-
If I look towards the back I am going to see a railing & people standing at their balconies, looking forward I should see the railing curve inward somewhat and not see the people standing at their railing unless I lean over & look back towards the ship. Maybe it's not as drastic as it looks on the deck plans.
I see nothing wrong with the above deck over hanging as I ten to look at the sea more then the sky.
Looking forward you will see even more of the people standing at their railings as you will have a slight angle allowing you to see a little bit into their balconies, instead of just straight along the rail.
Remember that deck 14 is directly below the pool deck. You may have some extra noise from up there.

Has anyone stayed in one of the cabins where it steps out from the cabins forward? Seems like you might have a little better view looking forward I just used the cabins on deck 14 as an example but there are others on the lower decks.
I was in one of those exact cabins. Previous posters are correct that the larger balcony with even less obstructed forward views would be one cabin forward. We did have a slightly better view forward than back, but not something I really thought about until you mentioned it. Unless you really want the larger bathroom in the mini-suite, and that is the only difference between the 2 cabins, I would choose the next cabin forward for the larger balcony if I had it to do over again. If you plan to use the balcony very much, the standard ones on Breakaway are very small.

They go back and forth throughout the day. Final return is around 4pm. Find the Red tram near the Pink water sports info booth (where you can confirm my info and buy your tickets) and Bonefish restaurant.
