  1. Does anyone know of any good bouldering or sport climbs in Bermuda? I tried looking up routes on the web but could only find minimal stuff. I was hoping someone can help me with some Intel. And, if anyone knows of somewhere to go, is there any guided tours or even more important, any rules? Thank you.

  2. My family was supposed to(are booked) go on a Disney cruise to the Caribbean next year. Me not included. My mother just found out that the date they booked coincides with my friend's wedding, a wedding they really can't miss. I don't think they purchased TI. Is there any way to get their money or credit? Any secret tips so they don't lose $800?

    Thanks.

  3. cruiseruser35- I just returned from a 7 day on Breakaway and stayed in the studio. I absolutely loved it. I turned 32 on out first sea day, and the group I met was around my age. There are great people staying in the studios. It's all about how social you can be. Go to the lounge during the scheduled times. Also, some people in studios have other people they know on ship(but maybe wanted a separate room) so sometimes you might be adopted into a group too.

It's all about what you make of it. I definitely enjoyed the studio better than I did a full room on carnival last year.

  4. I am sad to hear this happened. People are sick and that upsets me to my core.

That being said... Although I know it is a corporation and a big one, I think the man, not the ship should be held accountable. I am sure the family will want a check, but like the worker who snuck into a woman's room a couple months ago, any one person can do something bad if they want. A business can't stop that. Background checks and interviews can only do so much.

I hope the girl and her family can be ok and heal through this terrible moment. I just don't want people(in general) to put the blame on cruising.

  5. I agree with tommy. Splurge for one. If you are into outdoor stuff, you'll use it again. It's kinda addicting. Either way, you need a large micro card (mine got full 2hr 20min into a outdoor race yesterday) for storage.

As far as for the dive, get a pole. Either buy one $$$$ or make one $. It'll let you film yourself as well as point it where ever you want. It's easy to switch settings. You can either video, or set it for shutter release every second or so for pics.

  6. Sounds like a great plan, if that's what you want to do.

So many amazing travel options, that the only bad choice is to never go anywhere.

I still have my studio in three weeks. And I fully plan on getting in at least a cruise a year. But I think it would give me someone options for travel. Also, if I had one, maybe I could get my siblings to bring the kids camping.

Oh yeah, and tailgating football games if course!!!

  7. Ok, I know this is about to rattle some cruising feathers lol, but I might not take a summer cruise at all.

I've recently been looking at travel trailers and am thinking of purchasing one. That may put a hold on cruising money until winter or next year.

  8. I did Bermuda last year, and this time I decided instead to do the Fla/Bahamas as it is over my birthday and I thought it would be nice spending more time at sea.

How was your Bermuda trip? I was thinking of booking one in June. Maybe catch a last minute deal.

  9.

Also, in case you are both interested, start checking the week or so before your sailing- you might be able to upgrade.

Note, that if you do, you can still get into the solo gatherings for the studio lounge in the evening, but your card won't get you in during the day.

I had a plan to do that. My roll call has planned a M&G and a slot pull and maybe a cabin crawl. So socializing seems to have a head start. Which was one of the reasons for a studio, for the lounge. But if I could get a balcony for $100 or less, I'll upgrade. I'm 30 days out and will start checking.

  10. I'm in a Breakaway studio the week after you, Mr. E...looking forward to it! I appreciate all the tips.

I was just reading your posts on your 4/27 roll call about cabin crawl. I was curious how it worked too, trying to fit people in a studio. But then again, I also know a lot of people are curious what they look like.

  11. In the past, I've written a message on the white board looking for others to dine in the specialities. We formed a group of six and it was great! Different restaurant every night! Going to try it again in April. As a solo, the price difference is not such a big deal!

    That's a great idea.

  12. Absolutely not!! I did not say that at all. If in the profession of dealing with these occurrences. He was hired, but the cruise line, or any business for that matter can not predict what one lunatic may do. I am on her side. I also know that any one person can be held for their own actions. Now if they find he had a history of breaking into rooms, sure, blame the company. But the way I read the article, that nutjob is a total crazy and snapped. Hang him for sure.

  13. I would not do the dining package as you might prefer eating with others in the MDR vs. by yourself in a speciality depending what the group of people do.

    .

I figured that would be the way to go. Cost wise, I didn't want to purchase it and then never eat at speciality places. I love food, but I also live in Jersey and finding a great place to eat is pretty easy. Especially with NY City and Philly so close. So unlike some people, I don't think I need the cruise to be the place for me to explore food options.

  14. This is a horrible event. I can't even imagine what she went through. I hope she recovers from any injuries physically and mentally.

I'm sure the cruise line will be somehow held responsible which is a shame. Even if they aren't, I hope they set her up with some free cruises and she has the strength to accept. Like in an any vacation, we all hope this never happens to anyone ever again.

  15. Taking Norwegian for the first time Easter Sunday and I booked a studio cabin. I'm actually very excited about it. I found I didn't need so much space in an ocean view on Carnival. I'm simple like that lol.

Any tips for meeting times in the lounge? Are the room stewards just as caring to a studio as they are other cabins? Any pro tips to get the best out of the lounge? Is the dining package worth it as a solo on breakaway?

  16. I went on my first solo cruise last year and I had an amazing time. I have my second trip booked for April of this year. I will be turning 32yo on the first sea day. I am real excited to stay in a studio cabin. This cruise is a gift to myself.

What motivates me more and more is when I tell people I cruise solo. I get a kick out of "You're nuts. I could never do that.". I am surprised how negative people can be about it too. But, I really don't care because it just shows how non-social they really are. I am one of the last single guys in my group since everyone is now married. So finding a friend to go was tough last year, but I am glad I couldn't or I never would have found the gem of solo cruising.

  17. If you're going to take the NEC (Transit train), I strongly suggest taking a time scheduled two departures prior to your "time cushion". Train patrols, sweeps and random bag checks are going to slow everything down. Secaucus Junction is one of the only ways into MetLife stadium, so needless to say, your train will be delayed.

Just having suit cases with you is going to cause inconvenience beyond belief on the train.

Enjoy the ship. Once you're on board, relax and don't let the travel there stress you out.
