But the really good news, is the bashing will continue here full force.  😏  for some, that is the real FUN.

Have been absent from the Carnival boards for a couple of years since we have been on other lines but are taking a Firenze cruise this fall,  I see that the same adamant Carnival cheerleaders and know it alls are still in full force.

Our Firenze cruise in September had the return time to Long Beach bumped from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. What time are they actually letting people off the ship, if they are arriving at 9:00 am? Meanwhile, our flight out of Long Beach was also moved to one hour earlier. I just need to figure out when we can get off the ship so we can change our flights.

We cruise in October but we have to leave for our flight from LAX so really wondering if the ship ever gets in early,

  3. We are sailing on October 19 on the Firenze and the ship does not arrive back into port until 9am  We had made plan reservations without realizing the time for 12:30pm from LAX,  Does anyone familiar with the LA area know if this is possible,  We will be arriving back from a 7 day cruise on Saturday Oct 26.  I am an older person and cannot move fast or do any running if that helps..  Thank you

  4. Thank you for the info. Certainly would never impose on another level but this is a first so need to have some indication of the deck and what is included,  Is it extremely windy on that deck or is there some shelter.  Is this area strictly for aureau guests or do other guests use it. Thank you,

  5. As a peon would never think of invading the exclusive yacht club,  We bid on an aureau from fantasia balcony so just need information on how to access it and do we show our cards as surely don't want to upset anyone especially the yacht club guests,  It's a new experience and looking for information,  Thank you

  6. Our room is located near the panoramic elevator on the 9th floor,  What floors does this elevator operate on the deck plans to me are not that clear .  If unable to use this is it a very long walk to the next elevator site,  We bid for an aureau room and did get the suite with the larger balcony does anyone have any experience with this type of room.  Thank you

    Hello, my MSC Cruise family!

Brand new MSC cruiser here, and although I am not new to cruising (I have 25 Carnival cruises under my belt), I feel like a newbie. I have so much to learn about this line, but it has revived my excitement about cruising, which is a great thing! I love Carnival, and I will continue to sail with them, but I am hopeful that MSC will be a line I can sprinkle in sailings with to keep things “fresh” and exciting.

I love doing live reviews of my sailings on the Carnival boards, and since we have WiFi onboard this upcoming cruise I thought you all may enjoy a live review thru a new MSC cruiser’s eyes. I plan to post each evening, and I will sprinkle in comparisons between CCL and MSC in case anyone on here has thought of cruising with CCL.

So, how did we come to booking this sailing? My mom began cruising with me in 2017, and she really enjoyed sailing in the Havana area onboard the Vista class Carnival ships. On one of our sailings, a fellow passenger told us about MSC and the Yacht Club, and my mom began researching and said she really wanted to try cruising with them. So, we booked a cruise aboard MSC for September 2020….butttttt we all know what happened there. Fast forward to March 2023, and I was planning our first mother/daughter post-Covid vacation, and none of the August ’23 Carnival sailings were ticking the boxes…and then I remembered MSC. I took a look at the website (which I hate by the way….it is really glitchy on both my work computer and my phone for some reason), and I saw there was a sailing August 20, 2023 aboard the MSC Seaside with Yacht Club cabins available. Heck yeah, I’ll take it! I snatched one up, and as I was researching I was a bit shell shocked at the price…in a good way! If we were to book a Havana balcony on Carnival, then add on the drink package (included with MSC) and Wifi (included with MSC), it would be more expensive than just booking in the Yacht Club with MSC! This is a great value!

We did status match back in 2020, and luckily our match (Gold for me, I forget what for Mom), is still in effect until this December. I love that MSC does this  program, and how they work it with the "sail every 3 years or start over" policy. Carnival has so many Platinum and Diamond members that it is getting out of hand and they are looking at revamping it. I feel like MSC's policy really keeps it so that their higher level member numbers are more manageable.

I also really like that MSC opens check in for your cruise 30 days prior to sailing, as opposed to Carnival’s 16 days. I tend to have too much going on all at once and can be scatterbrained and loose track of time and forget to check in until the last minute, so that extra 2 weeks was helpful. The process and questions are much the same, but MSC’s dang website keeps giving me an error when I try and print my boarding pass. I was able to download my e-ticket packet though  so hopefully that is enough. By far, Carnival wins with ease of printing the check-in stuff….if I could get MSC’s boarding pass to work, I would have said they are equal, but man their IT departments needs to get it together!

I just got the email this morning to personalize our YC experience. I filled it out, even though some people say the info isn’t transferred to the onboard staff. We shall see what happens! I love that they give you a selection of pillows to choose from, I am a bit of a pillow snob and just super picky about mine, so this made my day to see. I’m high maintenance, I know!

So, who is ready to see their favorite cruise line thru fresh eyes? Come sail away with me!

We were long time Carnival cruisers platinum members but our last cruise on Carnival was filled with a loud, crude and unruly passengers.  We tried our first cruise on msc in 1919 and no comparison, We've experienced real class like the way  Carnival used to be.  Have enjoyed several since along with NCL and RCL  I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as we have   One thing I don't understand about Carnival cruisers that they seem afraid to try other lines and why they are so terribly loyal and defend Carnival to the core,  I agree that Carnival has many good things and a wonderful staff and great food but a few very crude raunchy people (the crowd that loves the filthy sex jokes and bad language)  have sort of ruined it for us,  Enjoy your cruise,

Did I ever say I have not explored other lines?  You guessed it, I really am JH.  If someone likes anything other than your view, they must be:  an imposter, a gran employee posing as a poster or a relative.  Wait maybe there is another option, maybe it is because I enjoy the cruise line and prefer them to NCL, RCCL, MSC, Princess, etc etc.  Maybe I disagree with your view on the value for price.  Maybe what makes Carnival the FUN ships really are fun. I defend nobody, I post my opinion, just like everybody else.  You can agree or disagree, but that is what males CC work, all the different views.  Imagine if you will a world where we just accept that and not quiestions others.

Nobody makes anybody guilty for their choices, the only one that can do that are in the mirror.  I really have done 53 carnival cruises and sampled 6 other lines. I really do prefer Carnival, I have 5 more Carnival cruises scheduled (and 3 on other lines).  I have met JH and lots of others in mgt on more than a few lines, including RCCL, Azamara, MSC, NCL, Disney, Princess, Celebrity and more.  All of that adds up to….let's see, add the cruises totaled and divided by the number of ships currently sailing added to the number of homeports….zero.  Hate to burst your bubble.  So to recap, I have explored, I have sampled and I do prefer Carnival.  I can afford to cruise virtually any line and choose Carnival.  You do not have to assume anything anymore.  Now you know.  Oh, one more thing, thanks for following my posts, I can do an autographed picture if you want

Bully for you and all your credentials appreciate what you wrote as we are all entitled to our opinions,  My years of cruising are almost over as I am no longer able to do it due to age,  Enjoy your future cruises with your fun crowd,

maybe 53 Carnival cruises is not enough of a sample......I will work on that.  You are obviously correct.

Have followed your comments for some time and wondering why you are such a Carnival cheerleader.  Ater that number of Carnival cruises and if you are that affluent to have that many why you have never explored other lines and the amenities they offer with a different clientele. Why you would choose to constantly defend them as being the perfect line, I am assuming you are a JH affinio or relative of an employee who would never try another line,  Carnival was once a great line but of late has gone downhill due to its passenger roster not in its service,  They and JH have done a great job on making a person feel guilty if they choose another line.  It's a remarkable study in human nature how persons can be so easily manipulated Sorry you aren't enjoying some other experiences.  I do agree that Carnival has great ships and excellent service but sadly it's their clientele.

  10. If a person books a casino rate is one able to transfer this rate to a travel agent in order to get extra perk etc tips ot extra OBC?  Also what is the time frame if possible after original booking with cruise line for this to take place,  Thank you,

I agree with this statement, we split time between Carnival and MSC…we only have sailed Yacht Club on MSC….we just got off of a Carnival ship 2 weeks ago and I can tell you things are changing.  They have really cracked down on bad behavior.  Security was very visible, no more Bluetooth speakers, people were very well behaved.  They have also increased their prices significantly.  I will find out next week if they have all moved to MSC.

Sure hope this isn't the case for our fall cruise since bad behavior was why we left Carnival.  MSC has always provided such a lovely environment but that was two years ago when we traveled on her,  Would love to hear from someone not in YC to hear how it actually is,

Well in defense of my DW, she has cruise/traveled with me for 50 years, 2 lowers on the inside cabins, which could hardly accommodate 2 suitcases. After all these years of delayed gratification, always peering into suite cabins to see how the "rich and famous" lived, we decided it was the time to stop saving and start spending. We wanted to see if all the hype surrounding this luxury suite class is all that it is touted to be. We are limited to cruise ships coming to our nearby ports. So having experienced RCCL, NCL, Holland America, and Celebrity all in suites, we have landed on our 'new' favorite MSC Yacht Club for all the reasons I listed in prior postings. As we have aged, DW has become more concerned about being prepared in the event of emergencies that might occur. One suitcase is filled with disinfectants and cleaning supplies, it takes us an hour to disinfect our stateroom and again after the steward finishes (they do go from cabin to cabin). We like to dress for dinner every evening whether formal/Gala or not. Never shorts. Respect for the Yacht Club and our fellow passengers. Another suitcase for medications (read that a gentleman was charged $3000 for antibiotics for a sinus infection on NCL). Another suitcase for laptops (4) to keep in touch with other electronics. The other suitcases are her 'back ups'. Every time she reads about some passenger having a problem she has to pack something else. On the Divina we were missing a bag. It was flagged by security. In it was packed with two water floatation jackets and smoke masks. We have since had to leave those home as now we need the space for comfort food in the event of a port shut down.

Hope that gives you some idea about growing old together.

Thanks for the lengthy reply appreciated it, I didn't mean to be critical but hard to understand the luggage,  We too, even if we cruise in the peon class in a balcony do dress up and appreciate the finer things and appreciate proper attire as we have experienced on MSC,  hate the crude apparel on Carnival and after cruising them for years had to get away from the crude behaviors,  Would love to cruise YC but not in the plans.  Am in the 90's and feel blessed to cruise at my age and will probably be taking my last hurrah on MSC this fall with two of my older sons,  Thanks for your reply,

Actually you are not far off... When I couldn't fit her 12 suitcases in my car, her reply was "Buy a bigger car !"  The problem is she knows too much. This Assyrian bas relief depicting a larger coracle to accommodate her bags is analogous. The world's largest coracle is thought to have been Noah's Ark fitted with a roof and we know how much that held.
