  1. Not so. Dinner times have been adjusted slightly thru the years and continue to be adjusted on some of the special cruises like TAs' date=' Panama Canal crossings, and European cruises. I do agree that they are standardized now on Bahamian and Caribbean cruises.[/quote']

I was only addressing the regular Dream cruises for the time of the year they were talking about and for them the information is accurate. Could they possibly change, sure but they have been the standard times since the Dream started sailing for the standard cruises. • 5:45 pm - First seating • 8:15 pm - Second seating

  2. i'm pretty sure that there is no virtual porthole in the inside rooms of the disney wonder.

I believe the inside room virtual portholes are only on the fantasy and dream, but maybe i'm wrong. (was there an update during the dry dock?)

You are correct, the original post didn't state which ship they were talking about. If the budget allows, a veranda is the way to go for the extra area away from the kids and all of the light it gives the room. I like the more spacious feeling you get from a balcony even though I don't spend much time on it.

  3. We are looking at a 5-night Baja-Mexico cruise right now, and we are wondering if we should book Verandah or Oceanview. Cost is definitely a big deciding factor, but on the other side, with two kids, 7 and 2 yr old, I don't know how often we will utilize the Verandah. Any suggestions?

Since you have cruised on other ships I'm wondering why you are even asking this question. First off you might what to actually price a Disney cruise if money is a factor. You will discovery the cost is significantly higher than what you have paid for your other cruises, even for in inside cabin. If Disney is still in your budget, an inside deluxe family cabin with a virtual port hole is awesome. Plenty of room for 4. If you want a large real porthole, those rooms are nice too. If you want to sit outside, then by all means select a cabin with a veranda.

You will find that Disney cabins for each category are a step above what you have experienced so far.

  4. i still disagree

    if it's adult, it's adult

    no exceptions

i for one don't want babies there...i don't want strollers there....it's an adult venue so i'm there to be with adults...not babies...

and yes, i have kids....loved having kids.....though i was a high powered whatever, i chose to stay home for 14 years with the kids and it was the best job i ever had...

and i enjoy taking care of the grandkids now...

but if i'm some place where kids are not supposed to be, then they're not supposed to be there.....be they 1 day old or older...

if you can't part from then, then don't come..

    .

I totally agree with you and so does my wife who nursed both of our children.

  5. You know' date=' you are right! All I could remember from the Fantasy was "Wishes" and "Believe," and couldn't come up with what the third one was. And I found those two among the least impressive DCL shows on any ship.

That does make things harder to understand, since no, nothing has changed on the Fantasy. Beauty and the Beast will start in November on the Dream--that may cause some seating issues if there are only 2 showings.[/quote']

Aladdin & Disney's Believe have been showing on the Fantasy since it first sailed in March 2012. That was my point to starting this thread. That was a link for Fantasy Navigators I posted. I was on the Fantasy a couple of years ago and I'll be on it again Dec 23 2018. Seats didn't appear to be a problem then and as previously stated some people don't come to all of the shows for various reasons.

  6. As a relative newbie myself (albeit more used to 4-nt. cruises, where three shows and one guest performer is the comfortable standard), it's difficult to appreciate how privileged/spoiled the question sounds to say "They don't have a different stage show EVERY NIGHT for seven-night guests? They're betraying their customer's trust!"

That's a lot of performers, a lot of rehearsals, and it only makes sense that there'd be repeat showings, just as the BVT movie theater has rotations, and the seat/guest numbers would seem to bear that out...Add in Frozen, which might start going to other ships, and there might need to be a few older shows that could be put out to pasture.

You're free to do anything on the ship, y'know, you don't have to have a stage show every night of your cruise.

You make my point by stating what you are used to on a 4-day cruise and then you say I should not expect the same thing on a 7 day cruise. That is like your 4 day cruise having one stage show and a magician for one other night with repeat performances on the other two nights.

My point was typically there main shows or headlining acts every night on a 7 night cruise. It's a standard, not a privilege on most major cruise lines. Disney already usually uses a movie for one of their shows. I prefer live entertainment, so when I saw they will be taking away 2 more opportunities for fresh entertainment, I feel that for what I'm paying there should be variety every night. I have my third Disney cruise scheduled and yes for over $11,000 non concierge, I expect to be entertained differently every night as I have been on other lines for less than half this cost. My wife and family are driving this cruise, I was game for Norwegian, RCI or Carnival. I enjoy Disney, but I personally don't like this new scheduling option. I'd rather see 3 show time options on one day.

  7. The main shows only ran on 1 night for over 6 years, so I'm lost on why they would make this sudden change. To me it appears we are now getting less entertainment for our money. I already thought it was crappy that one of the entertainment nights was a movie, now this change really cheats the customer in my opinion. Other lines I've been on have a main act for entertainment every night.

  8. The negative carnival comments from people who have not been on them are ridiculous! Like any cruise line each ship and crew are different. My family has cruised with Carnival, Disney and RCI a few times. All were good experiences because I did my homework. We select ships that are not more than about 5 years old and have consistent good reviews. Carnival is half the cost of Disney and the food was just as good. RCI is a third of the cost of Disney and the entertainment and enrichment activities were very good. There are some things each line does better and overall I do like Disney the best, but we will definitely cruise with Carnival, RCI, and several other lines in the future. Why limit your options and base your decisions without first hand knowledge. Also, my parents have been on over 50 cruises with at least 10 different lines and they have no issue cruising with Carnival. Even though they are very well off they love the prices Carnival offers.

  9. They asked about the show Line-up. That WILL be different than any of the Navigators out because Villains Tonight was thankfully put out of our misery and is no longer running. They have been showing a movie or something on that night since early August. Beauty and the Beast (BATB) will begin its run as one of the three production shows with the 11/6 cruise. But it has not been revealed if that will go in the middle slot Villains occupied or if they will change the order around.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

My bad, I thought that was common knowledge and they had mentioned that in their post. I missed they wanted a confirmation. I also had no idea what the abbreviation you used stood for. It's all good.:)

  10. Yes. But BATB starts its run with the 11/6 cruise, so it will not be on any Navigators before that.

I'm not sure what you are talking about Beth. They are asking about a 3 day Dream cruise that will occur April 2018. The Navigators I placed a link for are for a standard 3 day cruise that they are taking and they are the most current ones on the Disney blog without muddying the water with a Halloween cruise. This information will give them a good idea what they can expect, so they can start to plan.

  11. Hello all! 3 families including ours will be on the April 2018 3-day cruise. It'll be there 1st and we are Platinum members. They wanted to try out DCL. I had wished to do at least a 4-day cruise but the price during spring break did not justify the difference. What shows will we be expecting on a 3-day cruise? We haven't done one this short at all as we primarily take the annual 10 days or more European DCL cruises. We skipped this year for the ABD Rhine River cruise this July 2017. It was fabulous by the way!! Anyway, DCL website suggested shows including Believe, Golden Mickey and Beauty and the Beast. Are these what we should be expecting?

    thanks in advance

This navigator link from the Disney Cruise line Blog for the Dream should help you plan. Of course things can change, but I think this will be pretty spot on for your cruise.

  13. None, Disney is in its own category and that is why they can charge so much. You need to be more specific as to the experience you are looking for and the make up of your family. My family has cruised with Carnival, RCI and Disney. All were very different experiences, but we enjoyed each one of them for many reasons.

I do suggest generally picking a newer ship and I recommend using the cruise reviews in Cruise Critic to narrow your choices.

  14. My family and I have sailed on Carnival, RCI and Disney a couple of times. All of the servers were at least very good and a few were excellent. I have high expectations for service and have no problem talking to both the server & manger if service is sub-par as my wife can attest to on many occasions. You must have just been unlucky on your cruises which is very unfortunate. Cruises are my favorite way to vacation primary because I have almost always experienced very good service. I will say that Disney service stands out as superior overall compared to the other lines my family has sailed.

Good luck in your hunt for Daniel. My main point is in my experience you are more likely to get a very good server with Disney regardless of his or her name.

  15. Interesting. I thought St Maarten also sustained considerable damage, including the port area.

It did, this is old info. Here is the latest from the Disney site for the current and next few Eastern Caribbean cruises.

    September 23, 2017 – 9:00 a.m.

Disney Dream Sailings - September 22 and beyond

The Disney Dream is expected to sail as scheduled on Friday, September 22.

Disney Fantasy - September 23 and October 7 Sailings

The September 23 and October 7 Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean sailings are being modified to include ports of call in the Western Caribbean. These two revised sailings will now visit Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; and Falmouth, Jamaica.

Please know that further changes may be needed as Hurricane Maria runs her course and the Caribbean islands continue to recover from the impacts of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria and that we will notify Guests should additional changes be necessary.

  16. Insuremytrip and USAA (if you can use it) are both far superior than anything any of the cruise lines offer period! Better coverage, cheaper, and far more flexible. I even have experience using USAA to cover a death 45 days before the cruise date. All money spent was refunded and a few options were offered to make the best out of a very unfortunate circumstance.

  17. As a 220 pound adult I found the Murphy bed very uncomfortable! I slept on it the first night, but switched to the couch for the rest of the cruise. The couch is a single and it slept great. I wouldn't recommend the drop down bed for an adult. My son is 160 pounds and he said the Murphy was fine for him and he also likes the drop down, but my son can sleep anywhere. This was my experience on the Fantasy.

  18. Try this link for the Disneycruiselineblog. Open up the menus and daily Navigators. My family will be on the fantasy for Christmas. We plan on wearing special PJs to dinner. Also, all of the regular shows will be playing. There will just be extra Christmas magic each day and throughout the ship.
