We booked cave tubing in Belize with a private tour company. In this circumstance, I wanted to be able to research the company (using these boards) and pick the one where we did not have to carry tubes, where there were mesh bottoms on the tubes, the tubes were clipped together... and not take a chance with the unknown company that Carnival might use.

 

When this "deal" was announced, the Belize operator dropped their price by $10 to beat Carnival (which they got back from us in tips). The tour operator did at the end of the day thank us for not booking through the ship. More money in the hands of locals, etc.

 

We have never had a problem with a private excursion and personally enjoy the smaller group. We have never had a problem getting back to the ship on time.

We have a cruise which will be porting in Roatan. I have an adventurous 7 & 8yr old that would like to zip-line. Because the cruise-sponsored excursion only offers zipping for 8+ we are looking at other options.

Has anyone ever heard of or used South Shore Zip Line Adventures? http://southshorezipline.com/contact/index.html

I can't find them on tripadvisor.

If my family of four has an outside excursion booked, will I receive 110% of the difference in price for one person! or is it for all 4 of us?

Thanks mitsugirly, I was trying to figure out how to PM you questions but then found this site doesn't allow that.

 

I'm still debating booking direct with playa mia, it would only be a couple dollars more to book direct (including 32 transportation). Since they said 3yo will be free. That would be booking 2 adults AI and the kids buffet.

This way we would have more time than the ccl excursion, so I might cancel and book direct.

Did you see if drinks available for kids in the buffet area? Like fruit juice?

What did you decide to do? Also trying to figure out if it is worth it to book direct.

We are sailing March 16th as it is Spring break for my kids, too.
