Hello First Time Cruisers:

 

Here is an in-depth listing of all daily activities, schedules, shows, etc... onboard the Rhapsody of the Seas. Please note that this information was gathered from our lastest cruise onboard the Rhapsody on May 2, 2004. Also, when refering to 1st and 2nd seating, this means for the main dining room. All activities, schedules, shows, are subject to change. This schedule comes directly from Royal Caribbean, so please do not ask me about time changes, etc... Remember, throughout the entire cruise, you will need to keep your watches set to Central Time Zone(Ship Time), otherwise you may miss the ship when you return from your shore excursion.

Day 3 (Tuesday)- Rhapsody Spectacular-Starring The Magic & Grand Illusions of LaRaf. Showtime for all guests is 10:45p.m.

 

Day 4 (Wednesday)- Headliner Showtime-Starring Dynamic Entertainer Glenn Smith-Best of Las Vegas. Showtime for 1st Seating is 9:00p.m., Showtime for 2nd Seating is 7:00p.m.

 

Day 5 (Thursday)- Production Showtime-Starring The Royal Caribbean Singers & Dancers in "Rock On Broadway". Showtime for 1st Seating is 9:00p.m., Showtime for 2nd Seating is 7:00p.m.

 

Day 6 (Friday)- Headliner Showtime, Starring "Tribute: A Salute to the Temptations". Showtime for 1st Seating is 9:00p.m., Showtime for 2nd Seating is 7:00p.m.

 

Day 7 (Saturday)- Farewell Showtime, Starring "The Hill Brothers" and featuring The Royal Caribbean Singers. Showtime for 1st Seating is 9:00p.m., Showtime for 2nd Seating is 7:00p.m.

trvlhorse - go back to the beginning of the first post, and you will see that there are 2 formal nights, Mon. (our first day at sea) and Thurs. (after we leave Cayman).

I knew you would be thrilled to see this.

I know..It seems like time is dragging.We booked last year in May,and it seemed forever.This year,we booked in April.

I got an opportunity to do some work in June in July,then we start school again,where I will be working 2 days a week in August,so maybe time will fly.

I know there are 2 formal nights. I was wondering how formal do the passengers dress on this cruise? I LIKE to dress up, but don't want to be out of place.

Thank you so much for this information. For a first time cruiser it is a relief to know there is so much to do during a day. Please forgive me if this is a stupid question. Do you have to make reservations for the shows, trivia games dining room or classes? Thanks in advance for all replies.

On most cases,its just first come.Shows etc.You go to the shows,depending on when your Dining times are.Bingo,talks,trivia games,etc are open to all.There are some classes and seminars that you have to sign up for.The wine tasting,tour of Gally,are a couple that come to mind.There is a fee for some classes in the fitness center,yoga etc.And of course you have to make any reservations for Spa or Salon services.

After posting all of that info., I felt as if I had given birth to The Rhapsody of the Seas. Typing everything took about 3 hours, but I know many people will appreciate this. I wish someone would had done this before I went on my first cruise.

 

brn2crz: I forgot the new Captain's name. Waiting from a friend of mine for the answer.

 

Epaul3: I have never been on a summer cruise(leaving in about 2 weeks-June6th) so I can not answer your question about teenagers yet. When we return, I'll let you know.

 

trvlhorse: In the first formal, you will see men wearing coat/tie or suits. Women wearing formal evening gowns. In the second formal, you will see everyone at their best...men in tux, women in long elegant evening dresses. However, during both formal nights, unfortunately you will see some that do not belong in the crowd...jeans w/blue blazer/boots. They were allowed in the main dining room dressed that way. I only saw one man get refused at the entrance. He was wearing a blue blazer type of jacket, bathing suit, no tie, and cowboy boots. I think he was drunk...he looked like a panhandler on the street.

 

TweedleDee: No, you do not have to reserve anything. As for the dining room, you are assigned a table(for the duration of the cruise) when you made/make your reservation, so there is no need for reserving in the main dining room.

 

Folks, in case you do not know yet, some activities on board do cost money. Since I only played Bingo, I can tell you it will cost you $35 for 7 games...the price is about average...$5 per card. I know the Rock Climbing Wall and Spa do charge as well. As for table and card games, I do not know, but don't be surprised if they cost as well. Just to give a heads-up on what to expect.

superdave57: I do not know when they started charging for the Rock Climbing Wall on the Rhapsody. I personally did not inquire about it while on board but some other fellow cruisers did and were told that there was a fee.

superdave - On previous posts, I saw that if you attended a special rock-wall session (with instruction, I presume), there was a $35 fee, If you just showed up and got equipment another time, there wasn't. But everything is subject to change, of course.

MANY, MANY THANKS! I'm sailing the Rhapsody with family in October. I've cruised before, but they were asking questions about the entertainment that I couldn't answer. I really appreciate the effort you put in to post this information. Hope your typing fingers are OK!!

 

TWEEDLEDEE: Nothing wrong w/Nederland. I'm in Sugar Land now, but I grew up there and still have kin in that area. The PN-G / Ned rivalry seems silly now but it was a big deal in H.S.

I'd love it if someone would be willing to post here if they have cruised on the Rhapsody in May of any given year. I'm waiting patienty for RCCL to update her sailings for the summer of 2005, so I'm curious as to what I might expect to pay for her.

<MARQUEE>A day at sea is better than a day at work</MARQUEE>

There is no charge for climbing the rock wall. We just got off the Rhapsody yesterday. I climbed the wall three times and never paid a dime - as did one of our dinner companions. I'm not sure of any $35 instructional class. We watched at the rock wall for some time and never heard anything nor saw anything written relating to instructions at an additional cost. The staff was very helpful and gave plenty of free instruction when asked.

Ok..I am curious,How did you know I was from Nederland.?I am sure I mentioned it somewhere,but not recently.

It was a huge rivalry huh?I played volleyball,basketball and ran track all throughout school,and developed many friendship with PN-G students.I have only been back one or two times,since I left in 89.Not alot has changed.

Kyriecat...I think I have spoken to you on the boards before,but can't remember for sure.What year did you all graduate.

I am NHS class of 90. My DH is 89. I also have a sis (91), and 2 sis-in-law (92 & 95). My parents and DH's mom still live in Nederland so we are over there at least once a month for something.
