It will be revamp into a casino ship much like the Pisces.

We live in the US. Many travel agents and the NCL line did not have prices yet.

Of course you need to understand Star's euphemistic language to understand what you are looking at ;) .

For those who don't know, anything called "Club" on a Star ship is usually a casino. I guess on AQUARIUS the Star Club, Genting Club and Admiral Club are all casinos.

Basically, the majority of the ship's public space will become casino space, as befits her new role.

You are quite right about the names "Club" Doug. Star Cruises knows the Hong Kong market very well, hence the reconfigurations of some public rooms into rooms for "games of chance.";)

The Aquarius will fit in perfectly in HK for the HK locals, with just enough public lounges and bars for other diversions for the non casino crowd, small as they may be.

Casino ship like the Pisces. Daily, cruise to nowhere meaning, all gambling in international waters.

Mike, on Libra the Star Cruises website says renovate to cater to the Taiwan market. The last time they said they are renovating the Gemini to the Australian market they replace the casino with a dance floor and lounge. I think the opposite will happen to the Libra.

"Some"? By my estimation they are taking over basically everything but the restaurants and show lounge.

I am sure she will serve this market well but really I think she is a bit too nice for it. Better to put LIBRA on this run (with the attendant extra casino space) and put AQUARIUS in Taiwan.

What a pathetic waste of a good ship doing Mickey Mouse overnight gambling junkets . Surely there are not enough people checking in for this voluntary taxation to warrant Star tying up two (2) vessels in Hong Kong as basically floating overnight casinos ?

The claimed longer itineraries are pathetic - 2 night jaunts to nearby places in China that hardly excite .

Think of all the exciting possibilities for Aquarious out of Hong Kong to Singapore, Australia, Phillipines, via Tiawan and Korea to Japan and Vancouver and Seattle and it is all so sad .

It may seem odd to we Westerners but believe me, they know what they are doing.

With all those huge casinos and passengers gambling non-stop through the whole "cruise", they should be raking in those Hong Kong Dollars!

I also feel that Libra would be a better ship for overnight cruises ex-HK, and Aquarius should be used for higher end cruising. As for the short 2 night cruises to nearby Chinese ports, Star Cruises will evaluate this at the end of the first season and most likely make adjustments if needed. We may see Aquarius making calls to the Penghu Islands in Taiwan in 2008.

The tariff/rates for SuperStar Aquarius have not been released yet.

They should be made public sometime in April when Star also releases the new itineraries and rates for Pisces.

I finally received info from a Singapore travel agent. The balcony cabins are already booked for the cruise I wanted. We still do not have rates in the US. Can anyone tell me the best way to book?

anybody booked for her "maiden" voyage yet??? its so exciting as the arrival into hong kong coincides with the anniversary of some sort(a huge event i heard).

It is indeed a big event. It is the 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong being returned to China. This occurs on 01 July.

Although Aquarius arrives in HK a week earlier, the itinerary will be altered somewhat to coincide with the anniversary celebrations.

Star Cruises has sold all their cabins to one travel agent here in Singapore. As of yesterday they have only 50 pot-holes cabins left.

I thought only balcony is fully-booked. As far as I know, window; porthole; inside are still available. Maybe theres only 50 left with the particular agency.

Ship is already in dry-dock and most staff transferred over. Entertainment highlights have already been posted and in about 12 days time, we'll see the Aquarius operating her first cruise!

I'll also be onboard the relocation cruise.

My husband and I are happy the ship and crew are in place. We are very excited about this cruise as it is our first trip to Asia. We would be very happy to meet all of the Cruise Critic members if it can be arranged.

Ship is out from drydock! Will be doing her first cruise from Singapore, one-night high seas. 6 days to go until she leaves for Hong Kong, hooray~
