Lunenburg Posted July 25, 2018 #77 Share Posted July 25, 2018 Thank you for your insight. I now begin the process of choosing tour guides for Buenos Aires and Rio and Montevideo We used https://www.dobrazilright.com/ in Rio and you can buy tickets online for less than $25.00US for the HOHO bus in Buenos Aires at https://www.buenosairesbus.com/index.php you can translate it into English and if you look at additional info under each route there is a map showing the location of the stops and for each stop you can see what is nearby. (Other sites want up to $45.00 US for the HOHO bus.) In Montevideo the port is an easy walk to downtown. You will usually find tour buses waiting for passengers as well as people offering tours both walking and by minibus. Cabs have a card in the back showing the fare based on the number showing on the meter. There is a place to change money near the cruise port. It is an Abitab and has a blue sign. They will change from or into Argentine and Brazil money too. Many places will take US dollars or credit cards but not everywhere and you will find ATM's fairly easily ( mostly inside Malls or Banks or supermarkets) which will dispense dollars or UY pesos but often not more than about $200US at a time and some chip cards do not work here. There have been quite a few ATM's blown up recently and they are being moved inside. Also do not accept any money with dye stains on them - they are from the blown up ATM's and are not considered legal tender.
