madhens Posted September 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2017 My grandmother and I are sailing on the Diadema out of Barcelona October 16. ************ and some posters here have mentioned a change in the itinerary (dropping La Spezia/adding Palermo). Costa's website hasn't updated the itinerary (though given the issues with their web site, I wasn't surprised), but when I called Costa today, they didn't see an itinerary change, and insisted La Spezia was still on the itinerary. Have any cruisers been on the Diadema in the past month or so? What was your itinerary? The only thing that worries me is that I'm planning on buying tickets to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel so my nana and I don't have to wait in line, and I don't want to book it for the wrong day! Any advice would be appreciated.
G.M.T. Posted September 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2017 Can you supply links to the posts about changes? The only ship that I can find going to Palermo over the next couple of months is the Costa Fascinosa. http://www.cruisemapper.com/ports/palermo-port-140?month=2017-10#schedule The Diadema cruises are like bus routes where passengers are getting on and off at every port, changing ports and / or dates would be a logistical nightmare - rearranging passengers schedules. I can not see this happening.
madhens Posted September 20, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted September 20, 2017 This post: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2523185 mentions an itinerary change in the first or second reply. The site I booked through had also shown an itinerary change for the past month or so, except when I checked today - boom! La Spezia was back and Palermo was nowhere to be seen. I agree - it seems changing the ports would be a logistical nightmare, to say the least. Even though you're not a fan of the bus-like aspect of the Diadema, it looks like she's adding Palermo and dropping La Spezia by December, at least according to Costa's web site today: http://www.costacruise.com/usa/cruises_list/costa_diadema-201712_201712.html?afDurs=&afPRanges= Hope this helps! G.M.T. Posted September 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2017 The actual changeover from La Spezia to Palermo is on the cruise leaving Barcelona 27th. November, well after you intend to cruise. Have a great cruise with your Nana.
