question on luggage/Viking transfer to airport after cruise

We've not used Viking airport transfers before, but we are on our upcoming Basel-Amsterdam cruise. For our transfer off of the ship to the airport, do you have to have your luggage packed and out the night before like on the big ocean cruises? or do you just put it out in the morning? I am asking as it will affect what carry on luggage we bring...Thanks

We have sailed on Viking before, but we've never used their transfers. We are sailing from Basel to Amsterdam and my question is about airport transfers in Amsterdam from the ship to the airport. Do you have to have your luggage outside the stateroom the night before like on ocean cruises if they are handling the luggage? Or since the ship is small do you just leave out your luggage in the morning? Trying to decide about which carry on to bring and the answer to this question may impact planning. Thanks.

Luggage is left outside the stateroom. During your final daily briefing you will be given the time that your luggage has to be placed outside your stateroom as well as color coded luggage tags. Since everyone has different departures they will will be grouped accordingly. Some people may have to leave well before dawn so a light breakfast is available on the terrace throughout the night and morning. Before you board your transportation to the airport your bags will be waiting for you to identify and then they are placed on the bus. The time you need to place your bags outside is typically a few hours before your ride to the airport. Most people tend to leave them out overnight but it really depends on your departure time.

Adding to above, the time you leave the ship will depend on both the time of your flight and travel time to airport. Viking will get you to the airport approximately 3 hrs before your flight. AMS is about a 30 minutes ride from the dock but they will allow some extra time for loading, etc. Luggage goes out into the hall 1-2 hrs before that.
