WoodyWindy Posted August 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2018 Greetings American cruisers - welcome to Bucksport, Maine! While I know this is not your scheduled stop, all is not lost. Since we're pretty close to your original port, most (or all) of your scheduled excursions will be able to run as planned. That said, I hope you can take a bit of time to sample some of our little village's unique offerings. First, I must tell you, if you have arrived on Sunday or Monday, many of our shops will be closed. Unfortunately, that's just a fact of life for a small rural community that isn't really focused on tourism. That doesn't mean we don't have a lot to offer. Just be aware that not everything will be available every day. Here are some great things to do... The most obvious attraction as you step off the ship is our Riverwalk. Climb the hill to get to our Main Street businesses. Take in a movie at the local cinema, right across the street from your dock. Watch the marquee for some of the latest mainstream and popular art films. The Dairy Port offers both soft-serve and scooped ice cream treats. Browse through the selections atBookstacks, Huckleberries, GoodDeals Antiques Stubborn Cow stained glass. [*]Great dining is available at Local Variety Friar's Brewhouse (Run by actual Franciscan friars) Harborview Café MacLeod's Restaurant Verona Wine and Design Bucksport House of Pizza (and other Italian goodies) [*]Check out the cemetery on Main street, and look for the boot on the tombstone of the town founder. [*]If the Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory are not already on your tour schedule, check out these amazing sights. I hope you enjoy your stay! Note: This post is derived from one originally I made welcoming the American Constitution on one of her first voyages. Since then, many American Cruise Lines ships have payed us visits of varying lengths, so I decided to update it to make it a little more comprehensive.
