JoJo1973 Posted February 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2018 Just want to share this idea for Apia for anyone going to Apia on future cruises. I had planned this wonderful trip for 14 people but unfortunately Princess cancelled Apia for us (after the free cancellation date, thank you very much). But future cruises can hopefully benefit from my 6 hours of research and planning... Our planned shore time was 7am to 4pm so this is the plan. Get rental car & driver from Samoana Car Rentals. Their office isn't far from the dock, but there wasn't a need to go to the office. I had arranged a driver. $100 Samoan Tala (about $40 USD) for the driver. A bargain considering you would need to pay $21 ST for a temporary drivers license. We had reserved the largest van, a 15 seater. They also have 12, 10, etc. I had figured with gas, driver, and insurance the cost per person would be around $20 USD for the full day plus about $11 in admission fees. I used google maps to map out a full, fun day, stopping at 3 swimming holes and visiting a garden/temple: 7 am pick up ATM stop 33 minute drive 8am - 9am Piula Cave Pool. Entry fee 5 ST. 35 minute drive 9:45- 11:30 To Sua Ocean Trench. Entry fee 20 ST. 27 minute drive 12-1 Togitogiga Waterfall. Free. 23 minute drive. 1:30-2:30 Baha'i temple & Gardens - the temple is only one of 8 buildings in the world with this architecture. Free. from here it's only a 15 minute drive back to port. If we have time, we can stop at the Robert Louis Stevenson house for an exterior photo (it's 20 ST to enter so wasn't planning on this)
