having a 2010 destination wedding is msc a good cruise to choose?

Hi i'm recently engaged!!!!

 

I'm having a destination wedding in 2010....I discovered that mcs cruises are so cheap in price and kids are free..it would fit my budget perfectly ... it sounds to good to be true... i was wondering if it is nice..clean....fun ..is the food good...classy..organized.. are kids running wild....i mean if i want to have my wedding here i need it to be perfect..

 

any comments....everyone i ask has never heard of this cruise line ...Why?? should i chance it and have my wedding here... it has a pretty good ports of call very confused... please help

You mentioned 'perfect' and destination wedding in the same context. I"m afraid you might be setting yourself up for disappointment regardless of budget.

You can do a search and see how the ORchestra ranks in other areas as well (food, service, etc...) Unfortunately, she's near the bottom in every category. The good news is that she is near the bottom in price also.

 

Read the reviews....... both here and on the review page of Cruisecritic. I think you will find your answer quickly.

my other choice is adventure of the seas it has much better rating on your list and my mom has been on rc and loved it

Personally, wedding on the MSC cruise is not that good...

One of our neice got married on the Liberty of the Seas in 08/2007 and it was fantastic, in fact, she actually got married in Montego Bay rather than on the ship because the priest can only married you in port days from RCCL and the price from Royal in not cheap to get married on board. Anyhow, eventhough the wedding was not on the ship but they treated us very well, gave us private dining room on wedding night for 60 people. Very well done from Royal.

If you want to get married on at sea day, (middle of the ocean) only Princess priest / captain can married you. Think about it carefully...

My wife and I were in the exact same position last year when we went on our honeymoon. We decided to save the money and book one cruise on the MSC Armonia in the Baltic and the following week a cruise on Norwegian in the Mediterranean. We are going on a cruise for our first anniversary on Norwegian so I think says a lot about our opinion of each cruise line.

MSC wasn't all that bad, but I would not recommend it for a honeymoon since they don't have any honeymoon packages and lack the customer service of other cruise lines. The food on MSC is very salty and I would advise to order fish when ever you can since the beef on board MSC is a joke.

In summary, the best part of a MSC cruise is that we got to know many people from other countries other than the US, but I probably won't take another MSC cruise.

I was best man on Golden Princess & I recommend that ship for weddings. They have a beautiful chapel & the wedding was televised back home so everyone could see it. Princess is the only line where the Captain can marry you at Sea. I was just on the Emerald Princess & the Chapel was just a room. The wedding was quite reasonable with the string quartet, flowers inc. After the ceremony we all went to a formal tea< a special coktail hr & reserved dinner in a specialty restaurant. GOOD LUCK!!

Our daughter was married last week during the February 7th cruise on the Orchestra. We chose this cruise last summer because it was budget friendly for our guests, especially those with children. After reading all the reviews in January, I was very nervous about how things would turn out. Well, all I can say is that everything was perfect! There were 35 of us and we all had a great time. The wedding took place on Grand Cayman at the Grand Old House. The ceremony was on the beach, followed by a cocktail reception (drinks and passed hor d'oeuvres) on their veranda which had exquisite views. Once back on the ship, we had another private cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m. It was supposed to be open bar and dry snacks so we expected peanuts, chex mix, etc. Much to our surprise and delight, they had waiters passing hor d'oeuvres, including salmon, caviar and others. They were beautiful and delicious. We then treated our guests to dinner in the 4 Seasons restaurant. The staff went out of their way to make sure our needs were met. Early in the cruise, I met with the head Maitre d' to go over the logistics. They set the tables for the sizes we requested (some 6 tops, some 4 tops) and I provided name cards to make it less confusing for the staff when seating people at their tables. They were very easy to work with.

 

Would we do it again? Yes.

I just returned from the Orchestra 7 night stay. This is the WORST cruise line ever! My friend was almost molested by an employee of the ship. He guided her into a storage room and locked the door and began kissing and fondling her. She remembered what he looked like after recovering from her panic attack. She pointed him out when given a book of employee pictures. They tried to confuse her by showing her women and all other nationality of employees. We never heard from them as to whether this employee was talked to or even still had a job. Security simply chose to sweep this incident under the rug. We are consulting an attorney to sort this one out. Good luck MSC !

Hi we actully sent a wedding group on the Musicia summer of 2008 for a honey moon with many of the wedding party the bride was from Italy so maybe that made a differance but they were very !!!! happy:D

Sorry to hear Golden having problems, I was on it twice but its been awhile. I did sail on the Orchestra & loved it, just thought I would mention being able to get married onboard.
